QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I disagree with this. I believe that we have the right to public education. In my opinion this starts in Kindergarten and ends in high school. There are so many options for trades schools, technical schools, scholarships, grants etc. As a person whose only debt is college debt, I believe that I earned that debt and I should pay that debt. Giving away anything de-incentivizes people to work hard or even finish the degree.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

My children both went to public school and it always bothered me that they would learn about other religious holidays but Christmas was something that couldn’t be talked about or celebrated and instead was called a “holiday party”. I don’t mind that our students learn about other religious celebrations but that should include all religious celebrations, even Christmas. Our country is founded on a Judeo-Christian tradition.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

I believe that we have religious freedom and when we discriminate against those that pray, we are violating their religious freedoms. All religions should be treated equally.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

A check on the power of the superintendent of public schools. Ideas that are proposed by the superintendent should be thoroughly vetted by the school board members. They are not simply a rubber stamp for whatever the superintendent wants. The school board members are responsible to their constituents- voters and parents. The school board has a responsibility to the students, parents and community to make decisions that best fit the needs of the schools and the communities that they reside in.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The school board should have input into the curriculum of the schools. The curriculum should be transparent, because each school board member represents the members of that district and the community. Currently the curriculum is unknown to the parents and taxpayers, which causes a lot of controversy. Freedom of Information Act should not have to be invoked to learn about curriculum and library books in our public schools.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never. Parents and taxpayers should never be restricted from coming to school board meetings and discussing the hard topics, their concerns and their suggestions. Violent or disruptive behavior should not be tolerated, however, controversial topics should not be avoided and voters/parents should never be silenced.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, American History, Personal Finances- Financial Literacy, Physical Fitness, Information Technology, Art and Music Vocational Learning and Foreign Language The rest should not be taught in our public schools.

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

I do not believe that this should be taught as part of our curriculum. This can be an opt-in after school program for those that choose to be apart of these topics. These types of classes should always come second to the basics such as reading, writing, science, math, and social studies. Parents must always provide written informed consent.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

The federal government cannot coerce school districts into mandating curriculum in exchange for federal dollars. Currently JCPS receives an estimated $18,000 per child, per year, which is higher than what many of the private schools charge per year and public school graduates are not receiving a private school education.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

American History should be taught accurately and not encourage racial hate and division.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

School Choice is a myth that our current school board wants the tax payers to believe. Community schools should be an option for those that choose to enroll in. Magnet and traditional programs should be available to all students in Jefferson County.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian woman and instill my values and beliefs upon my children. We are Catholics and believe in one God and Jesus Christ.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents are the first educators that a child has, and this type of education should come from a parent. However, I believe that around the age of puberty, anatomy should be taught to of age children about how their bodies are changing. This does not include sex, abortions, birth control, sexual identity or anything that will sexualize children, there should not be pornographic material introduced at ANY time in a school system. Sexual education should be on a clinical level in Health Education, only.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Physical and emotional health outcomes should be age appropriate and taught that sex means something and can be emotionally destructive to some. Contraceptive methods should be age appropriate but taught in a clinical teaching aspect. Consent - again age appropriate- we should teach our students that its ok to say no, and that no means no. Abstinence- should be glamourized. Human anatomy and the reproductive system should be taught during health as well. Stages of pregnancy and fetal development- clinical and age appropriate.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

I have been on the Tony Vannetti morning show, a Community Outreach show, and the True American Podcast. I have media requests for the future, but as of this deadline, those are the only ones that I have been on.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a JCPS alumnus. I grew up in a the Portland neighborhood to parents that did not finish high school. I never believed that I could go to college because no one in my family had went. I became a teenage statistic when I became a mother in my senior year of high school. I had my daughter, finished high school and struggled as a single teenage mother with raising a child when I was still a child myself. Many years later I met and I married my husband James. We had a son together. My son, Alex, is one of the biggest reasons that I am running for school board. He was relentlessly bullied at a JCPS school and I have been fighting for the kids of JCPS for many years before I ever stepped up to run for school board. I started fighting for the children at JCPS by trying to pass an anti-bullying law, named after my son Alex, who has persevered and grown through this tragedy. I have successfully earned three college degrees and became a professional training supervisor at a local specialty pharmacy. I have taught at local colleges and I worked at Job Corps with disadvantaged youth and became a mentor and friend to each one of them. I used my story to enforce that "it doesn't matter where you start, only where you finish." I believe that our school system is providing our students a disservice by not prepping them for life.

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Disagree

I think that a person that is carrying a weapon should be thoroughly trained. I think that the defense for each school falls into the hands of our SROs. Teachers have a lot of issues in the classroom and adding a gun in the mix seems like a recipe for destruction. If a teacher is allowed to carry, they must go through rigorous training that provides them the skill that is needed to defend the students and the school. Their training should be equivalent to a police officers training.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

They should not be able to require vaccinations beyond what is traditionally mandated for public schools.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree
