OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Pro-Choice; The current reversal of Roe vs Wade was upsetting to many, including myself, I continue to research the Supreme Court reasoning. Was this truly a situation where the initial judgement shouldn’t have been made at the federal level or even the state level? Now that we have the technology to know that a human heartbeat or soundwaves can be detected in the early stages, I would look to my constituency and additional research sources if the discussion becomes an issue to be amended.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Increased taxes for corporations and upper class citizens. Previous administrations have favored these corporations and classes.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would like to reform wasteful programs (too many to mention)...

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

No, this is a form of discrimination.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

If criminal negligence is confirmed.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Safety - I understand that freedom can be interpreted in many forms but I believe that respecting the rights of those who have no choice but to interact with the un-vaccinated is also unlawful. This isn't a simple answer.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

I believe we need to focus more on

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Disagree

With the current technology available, I am not convinced that a wall is necessary.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who are fleeing from genocide and other mass life-threatening situations. Through proper govt. channels.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

As a board member of a public charter school, I have seen first-hand what choice does to the health of a community and the families and students who are granted that choice.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

As a gay male, non-discrimination laws need to reflect equality for all.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

Again, as a gay male, I believe the bible has been distorted and used to further the marriage agenda. Love is Love.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I believe that through increased technology, voters should be able to vote through facial recognition, thumb print, etc.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Did not answer

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

It's the only way we can truly repent for how we have treated the underserved.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Choose not to answer

I need to do more research before answering this question.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect freedoms and provide security to all citizens.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am running on the Democratic ticket but still have moderate views. I believe that many of the government systems are extremely broken and have suffered from severe neglect over the past decades. I would do what I can to begin changing the systems and communicate the changes and impact on the citizens throughout my district if elected.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

Just as with any other job, everyone should be held to a standard. The very few "bad" cops should be fired just as a "bad" employee. There are HR systems in place to do this in a justified way. I also believe that crime has changed. Ongoing training is necessary to help protect the officers who put their lives on the line daily.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Neutral

The "Defund the Police" campaign was extremely exaggerated. It was not communicated well and the rhetoric took hold. As I understand it, the funds were being redirected so police officers could have the assistance of counselors, etc. when faced with mental health issues on a scene. That said, I would like to see what funds are being redirected. If they truly do enhance the security for our officers, then no. If redirection would assist officers in doing their job, I would agree.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

No sale of automatic riffles. Gun owners would have to apply and take a background check, etc. before obtaining a gun. Growing up in a small rural community, I see the importance of guns and the respect that comes with owning one. I have never understood the use of an AR for civilian use as of yet.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Disagree

Unless the gun itself is faulty and no recall had been issued.
