QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

It should be available in cases of life & death emergency for the mother or the child. It should also be offered as an option in cases of rape and incest. Ultimately I am pro knowledge & pro preventative.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I believe in free markets & voluntarily funded business. Government subsidies are always abused.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

I agree but I am not a hard believer. Each individual, who is of sound mind, should have the option available in particular situations. However, if it were an option it should be one of the last, if not the last option available.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The United States tax code is a total of 6,871 pages long. I cannot think of a single aspect of my life which is not taxed. I would roll back as many regulations as possible for citizens and local businesses. The people have a right to keep more of their money and make their own decisions.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Without any specific options in front of myself, I would look at various programs, initiatives, committees, locations or organizations who is receiving tax payer funds. I would reevaluate the situation. Based upon the individual case, I would introduce "sunset clauses". Either a program has reached it's intended goal, therefore is no longer needed. Or a program is inefficient, costing us money, in which case it either needs a more efficient replacement or repealed altogether. There is always improvements that can be made to benefit the public. The most import part of this for me is being transparent with my constituents.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Absolutely nothing that requires the labor of others is a basic human right. More importantly, not everyone needs to go to college. The schooling system itself should be taken out of the public sector and moved to the private sector. Open up the free market which creates competition. The incentive to provide the highest quality education for the cheapest price expands exponentially. With the ability to move freely within the market, necessity and innovation will lead to wonderful thinks.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Everyone has the right to association, individuals and business. A business has a right to refuse service for any reason. The customer has no right to do business in any particular business, they do have every right to choose another store. No one person should be forced into an agreement against their will.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Under the same circumstances a church can close the government, never.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

D) Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded. I want to make sure everyone has access to affordable healthcare, which is expensive largely due to government involvement. The healthcare industry is not only able to regulate itself, but is more than capable of spearheading a movement to provide healthcare for as many people as possible. There are people who need help in society & the resources should be there if they are willing to help themselves.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

This is kind of a difficult question. First and foremost, government never has a right to require any vaccine outside of a employment situation. As of now, a school has the right to make whatever requirements they see fit due to them being a government institution. Which is a perfect example for why getting government out of schooling would be a great idea. The parents and students would both have more choices. Employers are the difficult part of the question. Technically they do have the right to do so, yet the employee has a right to end the voluntary employment contract that the employee agreed to so that they can take their labor to another employer who doesn't require it. As an employee I believe there is a right to try and keep your job while refusing the required vaccination. So I would beg the question that it largely depends upon circumstance.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The two first thing's we need to do. First, stop bombing their country. Second, pull our troops home. We would not tolerate another countries armed forces on our soil. They are no different.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Agree

The devil is in the details. The name sounds great & I would not be able to put my full support behind it until I have read through everything. In general I am not in favor of Sanctions or Boycott's, they hurt local citizens.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

There are many reasons to keep a strong boarder but at this current moment just being able to restore law & order along the boarder to get the humanitarian crisis under control. From there we can we can catch our breath and figure out the next move.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone should be allowed to immigrate. The citizenship process also needs to be reformed. As far as qualifications for citizenship, it should be anyone who can add to the overall improvement of their community & largely improve the country over all.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

I believe the parents & students should be able to decide where they receive education & what type of education they receive. Teachers should also have the ability to seek better employment opportunities. It is not the responsibility of the state to decide anything regarding the education of a child. That is the responsibility of the parents. The taxes that are collected for the purpose of education needs to be following the student, not funding the school boards or district administration.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Neutral

Although our founding fathers were Christians, I wholeheartedly believe in the separation of church & state. Which is a value that was incredibly important to our founding fathers. This is an important aspect in a functioning government. If someone is legislating from a religious position, that is a violation of every non-believers freedom of religion. Anyone reading this would not want someone of a different faith legislating for their religion.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

At this point in time, I have yet to hear a creditable argument for the need of such legal protection. Ultimately, government has little to no place in most social discussion. There are plenty of issues the government has addressed that it has no business addressing. As with everything else, I am welcoming to a discussion of ideas & beliefs but at this time I view this as a non issue for government.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Neutral

As mentioned above, I believe the government & religion have no place within each other. I adhere to the US constitution which does not address marriage. I do not believe government has any place in marriage, regardless the orientation of those being married. This happens to be another social issue that government has no business addressing.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

This is a very difficult issue to address within 500 characters. The United States is not a fundamentally racist county. There is a shameful history of racism, no one denies this. Racism still does exist, which is terrible. These two facts do not mean the US is fundamentally racist. We are in fact the least racist county in the world. CRT is nothing more than the Marxist "class struggle" rebranded to use race instead of economic class.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My personal relationship between myself & God is just that. Between myself & God. My personal beliefs are mine & not every belief I hold is right for everyone. Which is the exact reason that I will not legislate from my personal beliefs but from the position of expanding liberty for ALL. I am sure that everyone who reads this will disagree with at least one thing I have said. There is nothing wrong with this. This is the most important diversity. The diversity of thought. This is what makes our communities so wonderful. As far as my "values" are concerned, the ultimate value to me is liberty. Liberty for all, not just one group. Liberty is my top value because I want you, the reader, to be able to live the exact life you are envisioning. As long as that life you want does not involve the violation of someone else's rights through the use of violence, theft, coercion, or fraud. I believe the institution of government, which is supposed to uphold our rights, has been used to abuse these right's. Every two to four years both sides argue over who will wield the power of government over the "losing" side. This is exactly what our founding fathers had warned us about. This is despicable & it needs to be stopped. We are ensuring the demise of our beautiful country due to what has essentially turned into team sports. We have largely placed political party over country. Either side seems to be drifting further & further apart with little hope of being able to work together. This is why it is more important that ever to roll back the power of the state. Even in it's current form, if one party ends up in power they will have the ability to enforce their beliefs on the other through the threat of violence at the hands of the #1 killer in the 20th century, government. We need a sense of balance restored back to our communities & I believe the only way to do such a thing is to expand liberty for all. The government cannot solve societies problems & asking it to do so is an abuse of the institution itself. We are a strong community when we work together for a common goal. When we come together to work on any issue in society, we will overcome. When our communities come together, our country is strong. However, if the intended goal is to oppress your enemy with the power of government through laws, that will only lead to the same outcomes as so many totalitarian countries of the 20th century. It is true that there is a enemy trying to destroy the US through the use of lies & emotional manipulation. This is even a bigger reason to roll back the state. Take away their power to inflict their ideology on you through the use of violence. Which is why I hope you will vote for me, Jacob Johnson. I work tirelessly to expand the liberty for all. The more power you, the individual, has than the less power the institution of government has. Only when society has more freedom, will we be able to fix the issues in society that government will only make worse.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Requiring some form of ID to prove that a person is eligible to participate in the electoral system.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism exists, no one is arguing it does not. What does not exist is a modern boogieman of racists around every corner. Actual acts of racism are being devalued by constant cries of everything being racist. The very fact of society babying this situation should show exactly how against racism the vast majority of society is. Racism will never be eradicated completely. No matter how terrible an ideas is, there will always be people who believe in it regardless of the evidence presented to them. This is why people even now believe that the earth is flat. Just because these terrible ideas exist does not mean we stop educating those with them, which is what we have done. Instead of intellectually attacking a terrible idea with better & more intelligent ideas, we threaten people with their careers & social status. And unfortunately, the fact that racism has been placed front and center as the absolute worse thing a person can believe, we are ignore issues in society which are much worse & more prevalent. Slavery still exists in this county & it is known as child trafficking. Objectively speaking, child trafficking is a universally larger issue in society than racism is today. If racism is what you want to fix in society, I think you should. But we need to honest with ourselves that crying wolf will prevent any progress made towards ending racism.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

There is absolutely zero way to quantify who the reparations should come from & who they should go to. There is absolutely zero way to calculate in any accurate sense how much the value of a human life is worth. Therefore the monetary value of the mistreatment of that life cannot be calculated. The way we fix things is to never forget the past, be honest about what happened, & to make sure it never happens again.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. This is closer to my belief but it gives a narrow view. I find a great value in protecting the earth & keeping it clean. I do not believe the vast majority of current green technology is any better than burning coal or using oil. Government regulation is notorious for making things worse.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

I do not believe there are no issues with this way of extracting energy. There have been issues in the past. But the technology is leaps and bounds above strip mining. I believe we should be constantly improving ways to extract resources & the best way to improve is for financial incentive to improve to be the driving factor.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Generally speaking, the purpose of government is to secure & protect the right's of the individual & act as referee in society. Largely the biggest duties would be to maintain the security of the nation through a military & to maintain a judicial system for violations of contracts that cannot be solved civilly.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

The issue with answering this question is a matter of the definitions of these terms changing so much over time. I few myself among the classical liberals, such as Ben Franklin & Thomas Jefferson. However the term "liberal" means something different today. I am not a moderate by any means. I have very strong stances on almost everything. I am largely conservative in many ways but do not agree with many aspects of the modern conservative movement. I am a voluntarist who loves the United States.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

The answer is no to both questions.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

What I hope to accomplish is to roll back inefficient & wasteful regulation that only continues to waste tax payer money, roll back unnecessary regulation that only impedes individual liberty, & also help in preventing any legislation that will restrict individual liberty.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

Police officers should be held to a higher standard. Removing the ability of consequences when someone has made a bad decision, will only promote immoral & unethical behavior.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Police departments having less funding & mental health & community programs having their funding will work. First I believe that police departments should have higher qualifications to be a police officer. Police officers should have mental evaluations, more noncombative training, & many other things. Social programs are notoriously underfunded but some are inefficient. More money does not equal more effective. Detailed internal evaluations need to be done for what they need to help more.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Restrictions on firearms do nothing but punish law bidding citizens. Criminals do not follow laws, therefore any law passed will not stop a criminal. The solution is education of firearms. Even if you never intend to own one, the basic knowledge of firearms & firearm safety is the only way to protect public safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

We do not sue vehicle manufacturers after a vehicle accident, as it was not their liability on any level. We cannot sue fast food restaurants for making people unhealthy after eating their food. Firearm manufactures are not responsible for the unlawful use of their product.
