QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
This decision should best be left between a patient and their healthcare provider.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Closure of churches should only be done so under very strict public health guidance, especially when the target demographic is mostly likely to be impacted and activities of the church are conducive to spreading the public health problem.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States should work on foreign policies that strengthen our Islamic allies in such a way that builds up their societies in a positive way. We must learn more about the cultural differences and stop treating these areas of the world as if they are cultural monoliths.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Agree
I strongly support Israel, but am concerned about their continued oppression of Palestinian areas. I don't want to use BDS pressures, but unfortunately I don't want to have them continue their behavior either.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.)
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
When there is a concern of public transmission and a vaccine has been tested and determined to show that reduce the effects of transmission, vaccinations should be recommended. If the public health problem is severe enough, they should be required.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The tax tiers in Missouri should be updated a bit to better reflect income levels of today and not a century ago.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Newer expenditures are going to have to be pushed off to a later date unless the cost of keeping those items cost more than replacement.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Disagree
If you look at investment in the Northern triangle, immigration from the area decreases. We need to focus on continued investment and stabilization of these areas while also focusing on those who employ and exploit undocumented workers as well as improve accessibility of eVerify.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Any law abiding citizen who is willing to make the journey here through the proper channels. Our population is shrinking overall and if we don't replenish, this country will shrink like European countries and Japan.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Disagree
School Choice and private schools take money away from the general budget and further more from rural schools. We need to look at funding public education for the benefit of society, not the individual students.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
No one should be above the law.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Neutral
I believe funding mental health and community programs will decrease the need for police funding, but redirecting the funding ahead of the development of these alternative programs is putting the cart before the horse.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Those who are involved in misuse of firearms or have demonstrated or threatened violence towards others should probably not have access to firearms.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Agree
If the dealers and manufacturers have promoted their product in a reckless manner or in such a way that promotes misuse or illegal use, then they should be open to litigation.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
A regulatory body to provide for the common defense of the people from enemies foreign and domestic.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Liberal
Overall I am considered progressive
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priority is fully funding education in Missouri and rebuilding rural Missouri through community based programs that help foster growth and protection of small schools while empowering small businesses and family farmers.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Disagree
This would assume that countries that are not Judeo-Christian do not have a framework of morality. I know that's not true. Other countries exist and demonstrate morality without a Judeo-Christian belief system.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Bigotry towards various gender identities have been demonstrated. For that reason we should move to add them to a specially protected class.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Disagree
That would indicate that those who are not accepting of a monotheistic religion are not married and that those who are same sex couples are not accepted. I reject this notion for being bigoted and used to oppress others that don't fit in the definition of normalcy of others.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Agree
While I love this country, I have to recognize there are some applications of our laws and systems to oppress others who don't fit a specific demographic. These issues aren't always readily apparent unless you happen to fit the demographic that's not supposed to get ahead.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My religions and spiritual beliefs are heavily influenced by the Catholic church, though I stray. I personally believe that I shouldn't oppress others who do not have the advantages that I have had. I try to adhere to a code that if I have the means, I have the responsibility to aid those who are in need.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Agree
Until we can provide photo identification free of charge, I have to disagree with this. Not everyone is a driver and not everyone has expendable capital or time to get identification updated.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would require that Missouri provide photo identification free of charge to those who need it as well as add hours and funding to the Missouri Department of Transportation so that they could better serve employees who are off shift or work multiple shifts.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
There have been some situations where racism has played a role in our domestic security. I don't know if it's extreme enough to be considered a national threat, but there is enough movement that I believe hate groups should be monitored for activity
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Agree
Some considerations should be made. This is a complicated and difficult subject, but we have leadership and CEOs that reflect certain groups while our prisons reflect other groups. Until these particular areas are a bit more homogeneous in makeup, we should consider reparations.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. We need to consider the long term ramifications of climate change.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I believe that natural gas is a good transitory fossil fuel, but ultimately the U.S. needs to shift to alternatives.
