QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is a medical procedure that should be discussed between doctor and patient. It is not the governments place to determine what is medically necessary and what isn't. This is a slippery slope allowing the government to control what is medically necessary.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Neutral

Planned parenthood provides more services than abortions. Financially vulnerable females use Planned Parenthood for other service such as cancer screening. These services are needed and should be funded.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

A person has a right to make medical decisions for their own body. Dying with dignity can be medically necessary. For those with debilitating terminal disease should be able to make decisions that are best for them.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Pennsylvania has an issue with using taxes for things other than what they are designated to. One example is the conditions of our infrastructure. Our roads and bridges are in need of repair or in some cases replacement. Funds that should have been used to make repairs have been used in other areas. Leaving a gap in the funding for infrastructure. These areas should be looked at and those funds should stay where they are allocated. Once this is completed then we can look at all of the taxes implemented and see which ones can be cut and or eliminated.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would cut any unnecessary spending to have a balanced budget. Once we identify the areas of need it will be easier to identify the areas of waste. Then cutting the spending in those areas will help to balance the budget.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

If this means raising taxes, then no we should not fund it through college. However, the system in place now for students to be able to pay for college is predatory lending on behalf of the government loans. Most students do not understand the financial ramifications of those loans. The loan process for students should and needs to be changed. Or more education to the students so they understand the lending practices.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

I think that a private business should be able to do business as they see fit allowing the free market to dictate that business's success or failure through free association.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Government should not have the authority to close anything. We are free society. The governments role is not to dictate, but to give accurate information for constituents to make inform decisions.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

All of these options are or could be flawed. Each has complex issues that would need to be settled in order to be viable. Clearly the system we are using now needs overhauled in that the insurance driven model has pushed the cost to the uninsured to ridiculous levels. I would like to see some option that drives down cost with as little government oversight as possible, but have yet to see such a model.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Again, we are a free society. The governments role should be to accurately inform the constituents of health needs and allow then to make the best decision for their families. With that being said, we have been able to use vaccines to control and eliminate some diseases that have killed or crippled thousands of people in the past. So the role vaccines play in our lives should not be diminished. As for a school requirement there are other options then public schooling. Some of those options do not require vaccinations to be enrolled. Parents have ability to choose what is best for their child. And to that, I think that school funding needs to be addressed to make sure that each child has the resources needed to make those options feasible. As for employment, the free market allows the citizens of PA to find a position in any company that fits their goals, and needs. While not compromising their views on vaccinations.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

While all terrorism should be condemned, it seems that our involvement in foreign affairs tends to propagate this problem more than it helps. The simple answer is to stop involving ourselves in wars we have no business being involved with while advocating for peace wherever possible.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

We need to keep in mind that we are a melting pot of culture built by immigrants. We should be inviting of the kind of innovation that that culture breeds. That said, there should be a regulated process in which we welcome guests and new residents alike. We also need to address the economic issues that drive illegal immigration, from the heinous trafficking to the more reasonable sanctuary seekers.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The United States was built by immigrants. Ellis Island has the Statue of Liberty, and written for all to see is “Give me your tired, your poor, / Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” We should be allowing those who follow our laws and regulations to come to our nation. If a church or another organization wants to sponsor refugees then they should be allowed to do so. With the stipulations that they entirely fund the needs of those refugees. It should not be done so with tax payer monies.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

Much like health care many of the systems have nuances that need to be addressed in order to be considered viable. However, ultimately more choices are better than few.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Disagree

I believe our morals are derived from culture and experience. While raised with a Judeo/Christian background, I understand that it can be a good framework for a moral compass. I, however, understand that there are other cultural and/or religious backgrounds that may provide just as adequate bases for moral guidance. I fully believe in the importance of the separation of church and state.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

In a perfect world we wouldn't need non-discrimination laws.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Disagree

Separation of church and State dictates that the State should not involve itself in religious activities. However, we have added benefits to those who are married including insurance, healthcare/insurance, and taxes. So the government should not be withholding benefits to citizens because of their beliefs or personal preferences.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised in a household with a Christian background. I believe my beliefs and values mostly mirror that structure. Although I would consider myself agnostic.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

I would agree with this if we could eliminate the cost of obtaining the necessary identification to vote. Currently the cost of a state issued ID is $23.50. There should not be a fee associated with your inherited right to vote.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Ballot access should be more accessible to third parties and independents. Laws restricting them should be overhauled.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

In the past few years we've seen and economic, cultural, and growing financial devides in this country that should not be ignored. There no doubt in my mind racism plays a part in this as well. I don't know if I'd say that it has risen to the level of danger to domestic security, but if not addressed sometime in the near future I worry it will be.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) In that, generally more government oversight tends to lead to worse production value. However government does have a role to play in protecting its citizens from having their rights infringed on by businesses or other citizens. Therefore, oversight needs to happen but should be limited.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

While fracking has boosted our economy it has done so at the expense of our farm lands. Very few companies are out of compliance and are being fined for polluting the land or water sources. One way to correct this behavior is by issuing fines. The problem arises when companies then calculate the fines into the "cost of doing business." Those companies who continually pollute our state should no longer be permitted to frack.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To represent the views of its constituents and to protect the inherent rights of the people.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

It is not easy for third party candidates to get interviews or even participatein debates. While the media likes to say they give equal airtime to all candidates. What they actually mean is the give equal time to the 2 major parties.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No, I have not.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

Criminal justice reform. Farming, and women's rights are just a few of my legislative priorities. You can find more information about each of them on my website. Pennsylvania should be working to gain financial independence to limit federal control over our priorities. Pennsylvanians should be making decisions for Pennsylvanians.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Neutral

We do need more funds for mental health. A reduction in the resources for police departments would mean a lack in the training that I think could help that situation. Although, perhaps a look into where their funding is allocated could make up for that.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The laws and regulations we currently have in place are sufficient. We do have problem with not sufficiently screening for mental health issues. We do need to increase education of firearms and firearm safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

This is a slippery slope. If we allow the victim of a crime to sue a manufacturer of a firearm, will we then allow a victim to sue a knife manufacturer if the are stabbed. What about a car manufacturer if they are injured in an accident? Where does it end?
