QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Available without constraints in early pregnancy. Open to limitations later in pregnancy with exceptions.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Remove state tax on groceries. Increase transparency and availability of data on how money is used.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Did not answer
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Neutral
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
Religious Liberty is an important tenant of American life. It is problematic when it becomes a euphemism for discrimination. Instead I see Religious Liberty as focused on protecting the rights of minority and oppressed religions. Also ensuring religions have the right to help the poor, the marginalized, and the immigrant in spite of laws that might otherwise limit their ability to do so.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Did not answer
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I tend to support B, but I am open to solutions across the spectrum that will alleviate the significant healthcare burdens being placed on individuals and families.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Did not answer
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Did not answer
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Disagree
Yes, the border needs to be secure primarily to prevent criminals from entering our country, but the focus of alleviating the crisis at the border should be on updating our antiquated immigration policies that make is too difficult from individuals to immigrate to the U.S. legally.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Not criminals for sure. But we should be more permissive for those who already have employment in the U.S. and those who have family already here willing to provide financial support.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Neutral
My kids are in a great charter school. I understand that not all are of equal quality though. I'm concerned about programs that would take money away from the public education system. Many of these programs seem to benefit those in urban areas disproportionately to those in rural areas. I do think there is space for home schools to receive additional support from the public education system, by which they could benefit from public school funds.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Choose not to answer
Yes, our values have been the platform of the society we live in. Although I am Christian, I don't believe that Judeo-Christian religions are the only source of values that make a good, productive society.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Neutral
Historically systematic racism has had an effect on our institutions and laws. It shouldn't have a place anymore. We have made much progress in this area over the last century. Any that still exists should be rooted out.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I'm Christian and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have a regular scripture reading and medication practice that influences my desire to reach out and help others.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
If government requires photo identification then we must ensure that that identification is freely and widely accessible to all voters first.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I am content with our current voting practices in the state of Utah
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Did not answer
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
I tend to disagree. Mainly due to the political difficultly in agreeing to who and why those reparations should be given. But I am open to being swayed by a good argument for such.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Somewhere in the middle. We must be careful and deliberate.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Choose not to answer
I would need to better understand the issues at play here.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all citizens of our country.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I'm more fiscally conservative, but more socially liberal.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Choose not to answer
Need more information.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Agree
Police are being expected to do too much. I support narrowing their focus to criminal activity and providing additional community resource officers specialized in addressing issues involving mental health.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Enforce the laws that are already there. Require background checks for all gun purchases. Require concealed carry permits with training. Promote more responsible gun ownership, including the use of safes. Red flag laws. Raise age of gun ownership to 21.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
