ENDORSEMENTS

LIBERAL (1)

OTHER INFORMATION

Zeke Streetman has committed to governing with gun sense as a priority.

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

That's up to the mother

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Higher corporate tax rate

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

military

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

If you can't discriminate based on race, then you can't discriminate based on religious affiliation.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Severe emergency situations, and when sustained patterns of abuse arise.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

A

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

If they interact with the public or people who may have auto-immune diseases.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Probably leave the mess we made alone, and let Asia Minor heal. Stop supporting the Israeli conquest of Palestine.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

This doesn't seem to be working.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Disagree

Why? Our Economy needs jobs, and we have a whole line of people begging to work and become great citizens, we're shooting ourselves in the foot by ignoring people who want to become Americans.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free. Specifically people that have been negatively impacted by American activities abroad, so South America should be fair game. I imagine a United Americas, where we have easy travel and international connection to bolster our Economies and allow for trans-continental protections.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Disagree

The rich will probably always be able to afford private schools, but taking public funds, for public schools, and using them to fund private schools is entirely unjust, the majority of students, at least in Tennessee, should meet people beyond their own social scope, and have excellent public schools to go to. We have successful models of public education across the world, privatizing it is just going to stifle the kids who need education the most.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

The founding fathers were deists, who conceived of a nation without a governing religion, so no, we don't need Judeo-Christian values, they are welcome, but our government is based on unalienable rights that go beyond any religious doctrine.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

Marriage has been a legal union since before Christianity was founded, before the word God was invented, so no. Plus, historically marriage has been pretty fast and loose, so restricting it to just heterosexual marriage is a farce based on historic misconception.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Agree

The founders owned slaves. They had a 3/5ths compromise. Historically Black areas have received much less in housing than historically white neighborhoods, not to mention the implicit war on drugs and inequality within our prison system. It doesn't have to be this way, but it is and it's going to take a while to fix the problems our forefathers wrought.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am an Atheist. With that I believe that as human beings we have to fend for ourselves, and that we can't depend on any external forces to improve our situation. When we die that's the end for us. Our primary goal should be to ensure that our offspring and future generations inherit a livable and just land. And I would gladly bear the full brunt of hell, simply because our brothers and sisters are there. I am confident that our future can be a bright one, but it will require work and sacrifice.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Extend Early voting in as many places as possible, and make election day a national holiday.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, it seems like white supremacists are organizing, and there is a significant number and they are angry and armed.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

At this point I think direct reparations are impossible to divest equally, so our goals should be to use any money for reparations to be used for community development in undeserved communities. Go where the needs are now, and improve the infrastructure and public education. We need to be thinking about the future as opposed to the past, though we should be fully aware of the past in our decision-making.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B. If we make our home uninhabitable, then we're doomed. The environment effects everyone, and that's a greater number than those that would benefit from the jobs produced by reducing regulations. I also don't think the first premise is accurate, regulations can produce more jobs and benefit the economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Disagree

Go to where there's fracking and try and drink the tap water.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Provide for the welfare of the people and ensure civil defense and domestic tranquility.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Liberal

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Nope

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I want to build affordable housing, sustainable energy, and an effective health care and education network in Tennessee.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Agree

Crime has causes, and those can be addressed, and should be in order to impact meaningful change. Plus we've been giving the police military weapons and that seems a bit excessive.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We should limit the categories of guns available and the amount of ammunition anyone can purchase at a given time.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Agree
