QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Abortion is something I personally strongly oppose; however, abortion remains legal before a heartbeat is detected in Texas. This limited time for abortion is currently protected by law and should be a personal choice. It has no place in our public institutions, especially schools.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I strongly support this statement about human life beginning at conception. Snuffing out a life, no matter how new, is a tragedy I would not want anyone to have to endure.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The reduction of private property is a huge blow to freedom and greatly reduces the financial stability of the community. A productive economy relies on private property ownership as much as free trade without bureaucratic red tape.

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Disagree

Taxpayer money is best used to fund in school teachers and programs that directly touch students. Lobbying the state legislature should only be considered in cases that would direct more money to student learning.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Government should promote education for our children through funding. Children are indeed the next generation of leaders who must govern our state and nation. They must be well educated to recognize and stand up against tyranny in all forms. That being said, the current education system is nearly broken. Pre-K has turned into drag-time story hour and anti-racist indoctrination camp. That must not be funded. Public education is a wonderful idea to make sure children from all backgrounds are able to have the opportunity to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and succeed in America. This is the vision of Franklin and Webster who championed the public education programs in early America. This needs to be the focus now. Focus on learning skills needed to function in an ever advancing technological world. Reading, writing, math, science, computers... these skills are valuable for all. Public education for elementary age should be focused on the basics. This should be funded by local taxpayers and helped by state governments to make sure no locality goes under-funded. These years are key to forming the basic skills to be a productive member of our communities. Public education for secondary age should be more variable depending on the interests of the child. There should be CTE tracks for those interested in certifications and licensed jobs. There should be apprenticeships for trades and professions that don't require advanced degrees. There should also be advanced academic tracks for those engaged in higher learning after secondary school. The main problem with current public education is the 'one-size fits all' approach. While everyone will use basic elementary math in their life to balance their budget or make daily purchases; not everyone will use calculus or general relativity theory in their daily life. What place should the government play? The government should ensure availability for public education for all that desire it. The government should also put standards in place to ensure the public education is valuable to each individual and the society as a whole. To that extent, schools should be funded by taxpayers.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

Unfettered Christianity is desperately needed in our communities, especially at school.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

Prayer is a necessary discipline for all people. Jesus says "pray continually" and this must happen to keep your eyes on Him throughout your day. Removing prayer from school is one of the worst decisions ever made.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

1) Hire and fire the superintendent. 2) Set the tax rate. 3) Approve the annual budget. 4) Set the district performance goals. The school board also nominates key individuals to committees like the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). The school board acts as the representatives for the taxpayers in the school district to make sure our tax dollars are being spent in alignment with community expectations.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

One role of the superintendent to set curriculum and determine resources. The school board can direct the superintendent through setting district performance goals and approving the budget. This approach only works well if the board has done its job effectively hiring an outstanding superintendent. Unfortunately, the Round Rock ISD boards have done a stellar job at finding really bad superintendents for the last few cycles. This means we need a very strong board of trustees to try to wrangle in the current superintendent.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Parents should never be restricted from speaking in school board meetings. Aside from following Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA) provisions, every open meeting should allow comments from parents, teachers, and community members. Discussions and comments should remain civil and on-topic; however, no voice should ever be silenced.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Mathematics, American History, Science, Art & Music, Language Arts, Personal Finances, Vocational Learning, Information Technology, Foreign Language, Physical Fitness

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a conservative Christian.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Biological sex is the only defining characteristic to consider for athletic competition.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

The parents are responsible. School can offer an opt-in only program if the local community is in favor of such education.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

I do not support the teaching of Sex Ed.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?

Objective 1 is my highest priority. Parents have been and always will be the backbone of a child's education. It is the schools job to come alongside parents.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Strongly Agree

I support mask mandates.
