QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Neutral

I need to look into this further. I do not want to prolong anyone's suffering, but we must be careful to have proper protections so we can prevent murder, too.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

This is the private decision between a healthcare provider and their patient.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Choose not to answer

I do not know enough about this concept to have an opinion... yet.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Agree

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Wealthy people and companies should be paying their fair share into their local community.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

Separate. Completely separate.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I will have to learn more about this to form an educated opinion.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

I am not yet versed well enough in foreign relations to have a stance on this.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Choose not to answer

I am not yet versed well enough in foreign relations to have a stance on this.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Terrorism of any kind is an important issue, and I will seek to learn from top strategists and experts about opportunities to address this issue.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

I believe there are many layers of change that are needed in order to address border issues, and building a wall is not the most effective option.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Refugees, under any circumstances. Temporary or permanent workers. There may be other situations, but these are the two that I know about right now.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Agree

If there is lack of access to a certain shade of person, there is something that needs adjustment.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was brought up in Pentacostal and Baptist churches. I value human life, equity, and doing good for whomever you can. Being of service to our community is what I am meant to do.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

There are other ways to prove who you are. Especially if the issue surrounds the state being unwilling to issue FREE photo identification to ALL citizens.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

All people should have the right to vote from age 18, no matter their criminal status/history and no matter their current housing situation.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Choose not to answer

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The tribalism of humans can cause great division in society. We, as Americans, should be finding ways to bring people together and respect others. We are a world leader, and we should act in ways that support that fact instead of promoting separatism even from governmental offices and being ridiculed by the world. Mutual understanding needs to be built so mutual respect can be nurtured.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Disagree

We need to care for our Earth and humans more.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

This really is not the best way to quantify a candidate. Labels can confuse the issues. I would like for everyone to know that I can collaborate with anyone on behalf of my communities. I will lead with people in my heart and mind.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

People can check out my Twitter/Insta/FB feeds for more information @LeBrun4LA.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I want to see WEP/GPO repealed. I want doctors in charge of private, medical decisions, and all healthcare and Rx should be affordable. As an educator, I want to see positive change nationwide regarding early childhood education access and K12 outcomes in historically underperforming areas. I believe less standardized testing will help teachers and schools focus more on students' day-to-day needs. Disaster response/relief needs to be considered by a task force who can streamline this process. Learning more about insurance companies and their regulatory bodies is important to me. I want to know more; so, I can be of service.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Neutral

If they act completely under departmental policy, the department should be held accountable as a body. However, there comes a point when everyone should be held accountable for their own, individual choices/actions.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Agree

We need more of these programs to avoid the need for more and more policing. Community Policing also shows promise for our society.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support COMPLETE background checks for ALL gun sales. These would include juvenile records, criminal records, and mental health indicators. No person with a domestic violence charge should EVER be allowed to legally purchase a gun. I will continue to learn more about this from public safety experts, but this is my baseline.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Choose not to answer

I need more information about this issue.
