OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be handled as a Ninth Amendment Matter.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

This is a wonderful thing for people to do for others. If Planned Parenthood had not been available after my mother suffered two spontaneous abortions, I would have probably not carried to term myself. When government is involved, however, we must ask if a thing is wonderful enough to justify sending people with guns around to ensure that thing is fully funded. That would interfere with the individual's right to free exercise of religion.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

Again as a Ninth Amendment matter.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

The tax code is the purview of the Legislature, or the Colorado Department of Revenue, not the Secretary of State.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Anything not explicitly required by the Constitution. Again, when government is involved, we must ask if a thing is wonderful enough to justify sending people with guns around to ensure that thing is fully funded.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

I do not consider Education to be an appropriate activity for governments. I will only support government-sponsored schooling to the extent required by the Colorado Constitution, and give all private schools, and home schoolers (see 2 above) as much freedom to operate as possible.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

That would interfere with the individual's right to free exercise of religion.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

For initiating force against people or defrauding people.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Government involvement in healthcare has been nothing but disastrous. In particular the Covid response has done far more harm than good. Government officials should stop practicing medicine without a clue. And, one more time with feeling, when government is involved, we must ask if a thing is wonderful enough to justify sending people with guns around to ensure that thing is fully funded.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Government: NONE, Private schools and private employers: on a Ninth Amendment basis.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Quit being the biggest bully on the planet. Quit terrorizing people in the Islamic world. End all undeclared (per Article1, Section 8, of the U.S. Constitution) wars.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

I have no Theeee Riiiight Answerrrrr on this one. BDS stratagems on each of these and all other subjects should, separately, be up to the individual.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Disagree

As the Declaration of Independence put it so well: "He has endeavored to prevent the Population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new appropriations of Lands." Back then they were talking about King whatzisname the Third. These days, the current King whatzisname the Third has no say in it, so you'll have to identify which "He" or she yourself.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

As Emma Lazarus put it in "The New Colossus": "... your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, ..." ... and not to forget those who suffer religious, political, or economic threats to the point where they fear for their lives and the lives of their families.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

Especially the last three, and ultimately get government out of education, relying on charitable People to set the standards, in each school individually, for accepting charity pupils. When government is no longer involved, sending people with guns around to ensure that thing is fully funded, such people at the local level will have much more flexibility about all that.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

And part of that framework is, as Sec. 4 of the Bill of Rights in the Colorado Constitution puts it: "The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination, shall forever hereafter be guaranteed; and no person shall be denied any civil or political right, privilege or capacity, on account of his opinions concerning religion; ... Nor shall any preference be given by law to any religious denomination or mode of worship." as one of the limits on our government

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Neutral

Gender Identity is nothing but a bunch of labels which people freely choose to hang on themselves. The laws should treat this as a Freedom of Expression matter and otherwise butt out.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

Other religions define it differently. No government has the right to enforce this definition at the point of a gun, as General Johnson did in Utah. See #1 above.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Choose not to answer

You Voter Guide people are slanting your questions like a New England roof. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, no matter how CRT eventually shakes out.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

The universe I see around me seems deliberate. All else is open for discussion. As for using government sponsored, or tax funded, force in this area, I have pledged myself "so help me God" to the Colorado Constitution, against all enemies, foreign and domestic. See #1 above.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

There are plenty of other biometric ways of identifying a person. All of these have their own drawbacks, too.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

1-4-1101. Write-in candidate affidavit of intent. and 1-4-1102. Time of filing affidavit. must be modified so as not to conflict with Sec. 5 of the Bill of Rights of the Colorado Constitution, which says: "All elections shall be free and open; and no power, civil ofr military, shall at any time interfere to prevent the free exercise of the right of suffrage." "Right of suffrage" is defined in Black's Law Dictionary, 5th Ed. as "... right of a man to vote for whom he pleases." (when this was first laid down, women would not be included for several decades, yet.)

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Of course. The provision that no person be deprived "of life, liberty or property, without due process of law." appears in two different places in the U.S. Constitution. If that can be set aside for racism, or any other lame excuse, there's no domestic security for anyone.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

If discrimination on the basis of race can be proven to have been forced on that person, then that person should be restored and the injury remedied.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

See what I said on the previous subject about reparations and restoration. This is not a simple A or B issue, and the longer we put off dealing with it, the worse the mess will be. Laws and Regulations imposed cluelessly and hurriedly by government will do more harm than good.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Choose not to answer

You are slanting your questions like a New England roof. There are fracking methods that do not contaminate the underground water supply. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

As the Declaration of Independence said: "... that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, ... That to secure these rights Governments are instituted among Men." Most emphatically governments are NOT for solving every little inconvenience or capricious desire someone can dream up. Again, one more time with feeling, when government is involved, we must ask if a thing is wonderful enough to justify sending people with guns around to ensure that thing is fully funded.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

Pretending that there is a simple conservative-liberal spectrum is another example of slanting your questions like a New England roof. We'll just have to agree to disagree on all these. For readers interested in how multidimensional this question actually is, visit https://www.theadvocates.org/

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Sorry, I am just not that kind of glamor-seeking personage.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am running for Secretary of State for Colorado. I can support the Legislature with analyses of interactions among laws, I've noticed no one has even counted the number of laws in the Colorado Revised Statutes lately, so I can only give a crude estimate of "the better part of 100 thousand" for now. The best I can do as Secretary of State for Colorado is RECOMMEND the legislature make a priority of repealing the most complex, confusing, contradictory, and just plain multitudinous laws until we are back at a point where individuals have some hope of being law-abiding citizens again.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

These people are paid with OUR tax dollars to have the law be obeyed. The best way to do that is by the example they set. Corruption and Cronyism are simply situations where special people are allowed to wink at the law.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Agree

Let's begin defunding the police at a revenue stream called "Civil Asset Forfeiture." THAT money needs to go back to members of the community it originally belonged to before the court made the cute move of depriving them of due process by putting, not the person, but the street address, or VIN, or pile of money on trial so that due process is bypassed. Just ending that racket will improve the mental health of the community, not to mention the integrity of law enforcement.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

If "we do not need assault weapons" and "we do not need high-capacity magazines" really make a difference, how about keeping them out of the hands of EVERYONE, rather than allowing certain "special" people to have them while us peasants do not?!? On August 24, U.S. Marshals crashed a funeral in West Virginia to gun down Jason Arnie Owens, an unarmed man, without giving him any opportunity to surrender. Let us have equal protection of the laws!

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

It is the person who pulled the trigger, not the person who made the trigger assembly, who is responsible for where the bullet goes. Does anyone seriously believe it is the company who got the guns for the Feds who's responsible for putting the people at that funeral in deadly danger?!?
