OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

People have a right to determine their own end of life choices, the government should not be involved.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape, Incest, danger to the life of the mother, or if the baby is unviable. This is not a federal issue however and must be left up to the states and the people of those states to decide to what stage of pregnancy it should be allowed. I personally am against it from conception.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Strongly Disagree

Protections for corporations should be reduced or eliminated, there should be not too big to fail. If corporations were allowed to fail and did not have the safeguards it would allow small businesses to grow, that is how we raise people to the middle class and what make American Great.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

The deficit is one of the biggest threats to this country, and we need to work to reduce it aggressively. Government needs to be shrunk down to the size envisioned in the constitution with the limits set in that document.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Flat rate sales taxes for non-essential goods. Corporate income tax on corporations with more than 20 shareholders with the exception of Co-ops and S-corporations.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Neutral

I do not think it is at risk but the freedom to practice it does need to be protected at the highest level, that is why it was included in the first ammedment. The freedom to practice religion in good faith needs to be safeguarded for all religions.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

We have a right to decide who we associate with, and that includes as a business. If a business discriminates, it will be held accountable by the people, and they will not be in business very long. Especially in today’s woke environment.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

There should be none.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

After the vaccinations have been in production and in use for a time period sufficient to be evaluated for long term effects. At least 5 years. What the government does should NEVER be forced on businesses or private institutions. Private businesses can do as they like and require what they like based on their own risk assessments. It is up to the people to decide if that is acceptable or not.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Get out of the middle east. Treat everyone with respect. Repeal the Patriot Act

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

We need to secure the border.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Disagree

I do not support the government blackmailing states with our tax dollars. I do not have an issue with conditions being placed on money used for a specific purpose. Such as if money is to be used to assist police departments and those cities decide not to cooperate with federal law enforcement, then that money should be able to be withheld. Money that has nothing to do with that purpose should not be touched, however.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I am for a liberal immigration policy provided background checks are performed. Ellis Island style. I want to make it easier for people to do it the right way. We currently have a labor shortage, especially in agriculture that could be addressed with increased immigration. This would also reduce the number of people trying to sneak across if they can do it legally. This country was based on immigrants, we should not forget that.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Neutral

Discrimination in any form should not be practiced by the government nor any of its contractors. I belive in the free market to handle discrimination in private industry.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

We can look at history through an accurate lens without tearing down the institutions of the country with a belief they are fundamentally flawed. If we look at it honestly, we can actually work towards fixing the issues without tearing confidence in these institutions.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am Roman Catholic and believe in the teachings of the Bible. I also believe that God gave us free will to decide on our own if we will follow his teachings and that if we use the force of the government to force people to follow his teachings, we are taking away what God has given. Not once did Jesus ever ask or demand that the Romans enforce God's word. I will not use the Bible to determine how I vote in Congress, I will use the Constitution, I am a constitutional conservative and if the constitution is not clear I will represent the people and seek their will as their representative I believe in freedom and liberty to decide our own path. I firmly believe in the separation of church and state, I cannot and will not force anyone else to follow my religious beliefs. It does not mean I agree with your path but I will fight for your right to make your own path. What you do is your responsibility, not mine. That is what freedom is.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

A photo ID should be required to register. I am in favor of community grants being given to assist those without the financial means or knowledge to obtain required documentation and I am in favor of no cost ID cards, if the Government will require it, they should provide it.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

We need voter IDs, without them 1/2 of the country will not trust in the election system. In order to register to vote it should be required. If we use drop boxes, they need to be under surveillance and failure of officials to do so needs to have real consequences. Mail in balloting is not going anywhere in rural Minnesota, it is the only way to ensure that all citizens in this state have the chance to vote and maximum participation should be encouraged. Mail in ballots must be provisional and in person voting would void the mail in ballot. Volunteers that work with the elderly to help them vote in nursing homes need to be supervised and the ballots needs to be witnessed by a care giver to ensure it is the voter who is voting.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe it is. Racism causes hostility and hopelessness. That is what makes people think they have nothing to lose. We need to acknowledge that racism does exist and work to eliminate it. We must do that as individuals, the government cannot force us to do the right thing. When they try to force Americans to do anything, it only makes it worse as we tend to dig in when anything tells us what we have to do. I believe with all of my heart, that all men are created equal, as the Declaration of Independence states and that anyone who believes otherwise is surely not a patriot.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

I am torn on this one, we need energy independence and it will likely not happen without fracking however the studies showing increased disease occurrences and pregnancy complications around fracking site are very concerning. As a famer who counts on underground water for my animals and produce the reports of water pollution as also concerning. Right now, I just do not have enough facts yet.

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My three priorities are reduce the deficit, end the drug wars, veteran's issues, specifically suicide and reducing government interference in our lives..

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Disagree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Convicted violent felons and those found mentally incompetent by a judge after due process and interviewing the perspective gun owner. No one size fits all, each case must be adjucated individually.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
