QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Women who are the victims of rape or incest should not be required to pay for a procedure to avoid a pregnancy from violence. Low-income women should not be trapped into a dubious pregnancy termination procedure by unqualified physicians.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

As the Constitution allows us to pursue life (one's own life) and the happiness derived from that life, in cases where clear minded individuals suffer from a serious malady or various maladies, they should have the option to express when the end of his or her life should happen.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

This issue should not cast either side as evil. Only women endure the physical and mental effects of the procedure. Then they live with it. It is not a decision taken lightly and if it is available to a survivor of incest and rape, then it must be available to all women. I trust women to make the right choice. I would hope that choice would be life.

ECONOMY

Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.

Disagree

There are other ways to close the wealth gap. An example would be for the government to insure a "straight-line" mortgage. This allows equal payments to principal as it does to interest for the life of the loan. They effect would allow people to pay off half their mortgage in 15 years rather than 22 years. It would free up equity (wealth) for them to move forward and I improve their lives. If we can help the citizen by providing fair debt terms, then people will create their own wealth.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

The government needs to be audited in all divisions to eliminate wasteful spending. Government should operate like any citizen, on a budget. Medicare and Medicaid should not be used to fund additional government spending.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Lower taxes for the individual, families, and corporations. Interest and fees on late filers should be reduce or eliminated in order to induce a full payment. If it is possible, simplify the tax code to a flat tax of 8%. Government is eternal, it can wait.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Culture sometimes vilifies religious organizations. The government has to hold the line in assuring that all religious organizations can practice without obstruction.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

If the services are normally provided to the public, then those individuals and businesses may be required to comply. If it is a special request or unusual performance of a service, then the rights of the individual or business needs to be upheld.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

The State should provide a safe environment for the church to exist but make no laws favoring any church.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Vaccinations should be required to prevent the transmission of devastating diseases. The community in which the school resides should make the decision as to what they deem a safe vaccine, and a deadly disease.

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. The United States wastes money on many other programs and countries. The government has the ability to provide a healthcare option for low-income persons. If an individual opts for a private health insurance, then they should receive a tax credit to offset the cost of funding the government insurance.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C) The United States has become to involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty, unless in imminent danger. We have too much debt to robustly help other free nations. Once our fiscal house is in order then the US can again go to the aid of countries needing our help.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

The people of Palestinian need to realize that Israel is not an enemy. Free and open societies begin when trust is established. Until then Israel needs to maintain their vigilance.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Communism is the threat. It is a cancer which practices patience and infects slowly.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

No government is successful in eradicating a thought, perspective, or belief once established. Those who have nothing to lose will never stop their bad acts. For our own safety we must monitor these actors through partnerships with those who want to see a stable and prosperous world. When needed we must take the fight to them to eliminate any future bad acts.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Close the border until a reasonable policy can be implemented.

State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone who follows merit-based procedures.

VALUES

Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God. It's man's interpretation of His word is where I have questions.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Voter ID present at voting. No mail in ballots unless requested by the voter. No ballot received after the polls close should be counted.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

This is unobtainable. To many questions that can't be resolved to even begin a cogent discussion. In what form is a "reparation"? It seems to be a topic singularly used to divide people of all colors.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. Domestic security is threatened when the government and politicians seek to divide people through victimization.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Neither. The environment can thrive with traditional forms of energy as technological advances are curtailing the pollutants to the environment. We only need to be better stewards without forcing unproven substitutes upon society.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

Because the last forty years of spending has put the U.S. on the brink of bankruptcy, we have to tighten the belt until we return to manageable debt levels.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://stevecortes.substack.com Steve covers it all best.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My work ethic comes from growing up on a ranch. I put myself through college and became employed in various advertising and television jobs. I moved to Las Vegas in 2000 and worked construction erecting buildings and cell towers. I then transitioned to finance and began a career in asset management and commercial loans. When systems are broken that is when I thrive. I grew up never feeling that any of my freedoms granted to me by God, applied through the Constitution, were ever in peril. It is my drive to make sure that they never are.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

We put good people in bad situations every day to make judgements calls based on their training. We need to defend them in any circumstance.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Current background checks suffice for the applicant. It appears the government is failing in the review.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
