QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I trust women and I trust doctors and I leave to women and their doctors decisions about their healthcare.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Who are we to play God? If the “Right to Life” people are against abortion, then how can they not be against this?
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Taxes on small business should be lowered. Income taxes should be lowered, especially at this time when relief is in dire need for Hoosiers. Chain businesses should be required to pay taxes instead of tax payers bearing the brunt of the taxes through income taxes, property taxes, and consumer taxes.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
The State of Indiana has a balanced budget. In fact, they have a massive surplus.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Agree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
If these so called religious businesses are employing individuals that are not religious, then those employees should not be subjected to their Employers religious beliefs.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Any time. Churches are not above the law. If there is a pandemic then churches should be required to follow the same rules and laws as everyone else. Church is not a building. Where two or more are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst. Meaning church can be in one home, car, park, anywhere.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I am in full support of universal healthcare. It is important that everyone has access to quality healthcare. The government spends money on far more foolish things than healthcare, so why not take care of their constituents as they should be.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
At all times. Vaccinations are put in place to protect us from getting as sick, or even from death. It is about taking care of your community and those around you.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
As I am running for State Representative, I would prefer to answer questions that pertain to Hoosiers and the state of Indiana. If I were running for Congress, I would be more than happy to answer this question. My goal and target are the individuals in House District 93.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Neutral
I believe that the border should be secured in a way that would prevent drone from entering, along with securing our pros of entry. It isn’t the border that is the problem.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Everyone should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. This is a land office immigrants. How is it okay that we are here, but yet we should restrict everyone else? This is the land of immigrants after all. There souls be no restrictions on people wishing to immigrate to the U.S., it is also difficult enough for people that want to be here to get here. Impeding the process even further is not the answer.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Disagree
Tax payer Voucher programs and charter schools rob our public school systems. If parents want to send their children to a different school, then it should be understood that they are the ones financially responsible for that choice.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Disagree
There are no morals or values in our government. If that were the case then we would not be hearing about how politicians have cheated on their spouses, or have done things that were not very Christian.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a bind between two people. We do not get to dictate who those two people are.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Catholic man. I grew up in nondenominational churches and then converted with my immediate family in 2015. I believe that we have got to do better at taking care of our community, especially our elderly. I believe that family is important, especially your immediate family, however just because you are born into a family does not make that your family. Your family is wherever you are welcomed and free to be yourself without any judgment. I believe that religion is flawed and that it is about experiencing faith and not religion.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
The process to vote should not be like an experience at the BMV. There should be no road blocks in the way to democracy. If you are registered to vote then your name is on the list. That list soups be electronic and should be synced by the minute across the system to help insure that voter fraud did not happen. However, the likelihood of voter fraud happening is less than 1%.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would propose that Election Day would be a paid holiday to allow everyone to get to the polls. I would remove current restrictions in Indiana to make it easier for people to vote. I would have mobile voting buses, or vans to take to those that are not able to get out and vote when transportation is an issue.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is in fact a threat to domestic security here in the United States, as we can see from the Presidential term of Donald Trump. Racism has always been an issue in this Nation that has gone left unchecked for far too long.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost to keep our home clean and livable.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of the government is to help guide and oversee the day to day workings of this Nation. They are chosen by the people to work for the people. Too many times that is forgotten.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Liberal
I believe I’m taking care of the people, and not focusing on money more than human life.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Please see my answer above.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
I have never been convicted of a felony, or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am not driven by lobbyist. I am driven by the people and I will always be driven by the people. I do not work for the lobbyist I am elected by the people to do the work that they want. I am in need of volunteers and could use your help to flip Indiana House District 93. Please visit Andy Miller for State Representative on Facebook to learn more.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Disagree
Police officers are not above the laws that they took an oath to uphold. As we have seen in cases in the past some officers take force too far and they have a tendency to do it toward people of color.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
I believe that our public safety and our mental health issues and community programs need to be fully funded.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Doing away with constitutional carry is one of many ways that we can protect public safety. With our current mental health and domestic violence concerns, planning guns in the hands of everyone is not the answer! Doing more strict background checks is another way to protect public safety.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
