QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Disagree
When life actually begins is a tricky question. As a biology major I have studied and considered this question for 50 years. I believe an IUD is an acceptable, sometimes the best, form of contraception. It prevents implantation, not fertilization. After the heart starts to beat the embryo is far from viable, and has little resemblance to a human being. Legal protections should belong to the full formed, fully functioning, reasoning, human being I believe a woman must have dominion over her body.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Disagree
Planned Parenthood provides a wide variety women's health services, and should receive taxpayer funding. There are instances where an abortion necessary health procedure.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Disagree
It is already law that any child born has equal life protections, this is an attempt to make it harder for women to access healthcare. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists called it dangerous.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Preventing pregnancy is not an abortion and is a women's prerogative. If a pregnancy is a serious threat too a woman's physical or mental health it should be allowed. Rape and incest are valid reason for an abortion.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
It is the government's responsibility to guarantee a livable wage. Each individual is responsible for finding and keeping a job which provide an income. Individuals with special needs that prevent full time work deserve funding to meet their needs and preserve their dignity. Those taking care of family that can't care for themselves are preforming a job and should be compensated.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
Some regulations over private business are necessary such as those that protect the welfare of citizens, prevent monopolies, and ensure competition. Business must ensure the safety of their workers, hire without discrimination, and pay a reasonable wage.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
Other countries successful pay for education through college. However this process would need to be strategic and thorough oversight. Our country does not have a sufficient skilled labor force, especially higher degrees to fill needed jobs. A college education simply incurs too much dept. Targeting certain high need areas would be a good place to start, teachers, nurses, doctors, and social workers for example. High impact could also include tuition for community colleges and trade schools.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Indiana currently has a huge budget surplus. Education however is far from fully funded. $500 million dollars were spent last 2024-25 on private school vouchers. The majority of this money subsidizes students who were already enrolled in private scho
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Whom one loves and marries is simply none of the governments business. All marriages should be honored and treated the same by the law and by the government.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
The constitution prohibits the government from establishing a religion or favoring one faith. Yet taxes are given to private parochial schools, the ten commandment are displayed in public spaces, historical events and scientific facts are altered to favor a religious belief. Government officials are allowed to promote through government channels their personal religious beliefs. This is not upholding the constitution, and undermines religious freedom for all.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
Any religion can practice their faith, within confines of the law in churches, and in non taxpayer supported venues,
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Tax payer funds should not fund any entity that promotes specific religious belief.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Agree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
In order to support universal healthcare coverage out of pocket costs need to be lowered, eligibility increased, and community infrastructure and barriers need to be addressed, especially in rural communities. Funding for expanded health insurance, policies implementing price caps on drugs and services, increasing subsidizes for insurance for low income families.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Neutral
Military strength is a deterrent to war, but diplomacy, strong partnerships, promoting stability and general welfare around the world are equally strong promoters of peace.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Disagree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Any one not fleeing prosecution, or with intent to break our laws, should be allowed to legally to pursue citizenship. This means creating a robust process for vetting immigrants and allowing expedited citizenship. Our economy is suffering from an aging, shrinking population. We need a work force and tax payers, not to mention the very real humanitarian crises faced by many immigrants.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
A framework of respect, justice, and mercy, regardless of its origin is necessary.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Quaker, we are seekers and believe there is that of God in all people. I do value the testimonies around simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality. I believe our purpose is to exemplify love and mercy, to care for our neighbor, which is everyone, and our world.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
In order to register to vote a photo ID is required, there is no need to repeat this requirement other than to suppress and intimidate voters.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Agree
Voters should choose the candidate not the elector.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, the repeal of the voting rights act is unfortunate proof of institutionalized racism, as are illegal ICE arrests. The targeted injustice of any group threatens all of us, it undermines the foundations of our democracy. That any of us could be next, is not just a theoretical possibility, it is a unconscionable reality as citizens have been murdered in our streets.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am on several boards and committees in my community which has allowed me to become familiar with issues we face and potential solutions. I am on our district's school board and our legislative liaison, I am active in the Indian School Board Association, and am clerk of First Friends Meeting. Until declaring my candidacy I was on the INLWV state board and lead our education advocacy team. I am on our county's Healthy Communities board, ReNew Castle's board which is striving to revitalize our down town. I have helped establish the Henry County Childcare Network, Hagar's Hope, a women's transition facility, Affordable Housing solutions of Henry County, and our back to school festival which just served over 500 families in our area. I am president of Hope Initiative which helped establish the last four organizations.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
no
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I care deeply about all of our Hoosier neighbors. Indiana has had a super Republican majority for over 20 years. They have neglected health care, childcare, public schools, infrastructure, and our environment, especially in rural communities. These are foundational aspects of our well being now and even more so for our children's future. I want to build a better, sustainable future for all Hoosier families.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Disagree
Legislation and laws should be based on moral values, not specific religious law.
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
Most schools have, and the ability to have them should be fully funded, SROs that are highly trained specialized police to work in schools.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Common sense laws including secure storage, red flag laws, and eliminating high capacity rapid fire weapons.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Legislation that would strategically and sustainable fund public education, childcare, and healthcare. This is a forth, but is equally important and that is to revise the voting process to eliminate straight ticket voting and establish apolitical redistricting.
