QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Agree
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
ECONOMY
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Disagree
It is certainly appropriate for school board members to advocate to the General Assembly for legislation that would be beneficial to our students and constituents. But school districts should use taxpayer money for educating the students of the district--not for lobbying.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Pre-K programs such as Head Start have had mixed results, at best. And many high school graduates are better served by taking avenues other than college (e.g., learning a trade). Thus, universal funding from pre-K through college does not seem to be a wise way to spend taxpayer money. With that said, though, I do believe that a robust public education system is necessary to have an educated citizenry. That public education needs to be focused on fundamentals, such as reading and writing English, arithmetic and mathematics, science, and history.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Liberty is more important than safety and it is not the government's job to decide medical treatments. Accordingly, government-run entities should not be permitted to require vaccinations. As far as private employers are concerned, I believe that one's freedom to make medical decisions such as whether or not to take a vaccination is a civil right, and employers requiring such conduct as a condition of employment violates employees' civil rights. And further, forcing one to make the choice between feeding his family and violating his conscience is morally wrong.
EDUCATION
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Every parent should be able to speak--the First Amendment guarantees citizens the right to petition for redress of grievances. While reasonable time/place/manner restrictions are permitted by constitutional jurisprudence, we must be careful that these are truly viewpoint-neutral and not weaponized against parents who make statements contrary to the views of certain board members. And I strongly believe that all comments at school board meetings should be a matter of public record.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
Vocational Learning, Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, American History, Personal Finances, Language Arts, Foreign Language, Physical Fitness, Art & Music
American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Strongly Agree
Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Strongly Agree
Frankly, some of the topics addressed in these frameworks are inappropriate in public schools at all - but to the extent they are offered, I support requiring affirmative opt-in by parents.
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
Federal dollars almost always have strings attached which take away local control. I strongly support local control over our children's education--especially when contrasted with centralized control from Washington DC.
I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Strongly Disagree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
What is the function of the local school board?
To represent the taxpayers/citizens if their county. To decide how to spend funds allocated to the schools. To hold school administors accountable. To ensure transparency in matters of budget, policy, and curriculum.
Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?
No
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The School Board should have this authority, and in exercising this authority, the Board should represent the interests of its constituents. Also in exercising this authority, the Board should take into consideration the recommendations of classroom teachers and parents.
Who has the ultimate right to control the education of children in public schools? (a) parents (b) teachers (c)school boards.
Parents. While School Boards and teachers play key and critical roles, it is parents who have the responsibility to educate their children. And it is incumbent on the Board to make sure there is transparency regarding what is being taught so that parents can make educated and informed decisions.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a follower of Christ and every day do my best to live up to His teachings. I believe this country was founded on Judeo-Christian values. There is a reason why our national motto is "In God We Trust."
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents are responsible for teaching sexual education to children. And it is up to the parents to decide the appropriate age. I do not oppose teaching about anatomy and the reproductive system in an age-appropriate way. But when it comes to matters of sexual intercourse, this should only be offered if parents opt-in.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
human anatomy/the reproductive system, physical and emotional health outcomes, abstinence, consent, stages of pregnancy and fetal development
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
John Adams said "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People." He was correct then, and is correct now.
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
And if the child is in need of emergency health management, efforts should be made to contact the parents as soon as possible.
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Strongly Agree
EQUALITY
I support the teaching that an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist, whether consciously or unconsciously.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Disagree
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
As a registered nurse who worked on the front lines during COVID, I have the knowledge and ability to push back when “public health” is weaponized against our children, like it was during COVID. Our schools should not have stayed closed, and forced masking of our children was detrimental. I, along with many others went to work on the front lines despite the risk because that was our duty. The best nurses are advocates. I will advocate for the children, parents, teachers and taxpayers of Forsyth County.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
None.
I support mask mandates.
Strongly Disagree
