QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Agree
Private agencies should not be a resource for instruction in public schools. I believe in education, I feel that certain matters should be taught in a controlled manor, developed by professional educators using age appropriate material. They may be used on a referral basis through a school social worker if necessary.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Disagree
A life may be considered a human person at fertilization. On the other hand, others attribute person hood once the physical appearance of a fetus resembles the mature human form at about week 9 of gestation during embryo genesis. Often, it is not just the life of the embryo that needs protection. Until a life is functionally able to sustain itself independently than the needs of its host/mother should take precedent.
ECONOMY
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Disagree
I do not support taxpayer money being used to lobby state legislature, that is why we have elections. Taxpayers already vote for legislatures that support causes that concern them. Hopefully they choose candidates whose values align with the majority of its constituents.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I absolutely support government funding for a more educated, less financially burdened society. As a developed country we should already have a fully funded education system. Government funding in theory helps level the opportunity playing field. Education without the heavy burden of suffocating debt should not be reserved only for privileged that can afford to fund their children's education. A highly educated, skilled society benefits everyone.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
I believe that an open unbiased dialogue about religious beliefs is beneficial if it's done in a respectful manner for the purpose of expanding knowledge on a subject. The open dialogue should be presented in an unbiased way for the purpose of educating .and not used for religious recruiting or shaming.
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
School districts should not participate in discrimination at all. The LGBTQ community has the highest rates of suicide among youth more than any other demographic. As a publicly funded institution districts do not have the right to hurt and discriminate against the people that they pledge to help. Individuals do however have the right to make whatever consumers choices they feel align with their beliefs.
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Neutral
I do not believe public schools have the right to enforce students to pray. Religious beliefs and practices are so varied it wouldn't be prudent, but individuals should have every right to personally pray and practice their individual religious practices privately even if it takes place in school.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Government agencies should not require vaccines, but they should be allowed to make restrictions to protect the general health of the population. If there is a deadly ,highly contagious virus that can be controlled by the use of vaccines you have the right not to take it. The institution should also retain the right to restrict your access to and protect the general population.
EDUCATION
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Parents should be given the right to free speech. If that free speech incites violence or causes harm to another group of people then protections should be put in place.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
1. Emotional Learning 2. Language arts 3.Math 4. Science 5. American History 6. Critical race theory 7. Vocational learning 8. Personal Finance 9. Information technology 10. Political Activism 11. Arts and music 12.physical fitness
American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Disagree
I do not think that our nations founding principals were actually based on liberty and equality for all. They were specifically directed to protect those who established our country. I think that education should be based on truths not reconfigured stories.
Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Disagree
These subjects are technically science. they should be taught in the same way. We do not have to op-in for other science classes.
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Neutral
I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Agree
We need to equally represent everyone who contributed to the success of our democracy. We have taught for generations that the only significance that African Americans contributed to was their skin color made them ideal chattel for the purpose of picking cotton. The truth has more dimension than what we have been taught..
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Agree
What is the function of the local school board?
The local school boards purpose is to serve the children and parents of its district. They should observe, analyse and research the best curricula, teaching practices and provide a foundation for the district. They school board should refer to parents, students, and administrator to ensure that the foundation is beneficial and does the most good.
Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?
Choose not to answer
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
There should be a concerted effort to get the input of multiple sources. The school board as a whole does not spend its days in the actual classrooms with students, teachers and parental opinions should count. The board and Superintendent should make the final decision based on choices that are beneficial to the most students.
Who has the ultimate right to control the education of children in public schools? (a) parents (b) teachers (c)school boards.
It usually take a concerted effort to educate a child. Ideally the board establishes the foundation , the teacher educates based on a given set of standards and goals and the parent has the ultimate responsibility based on individual abilities, goals, and family culture.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a christian
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Disagree
Competition based on personal identification rather than biological sex creates an unfair advantage for female participants.Males are usually biologically stronger and built different. There are exceptions that may be considered, but in an effort to address most circumstances I support using biological sex for competition.
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
I think that 7th grade is an appropriate age to introduce proper sex education. Children are exposed to sexual content at a much younger age, but middle school is a good place to start appropriately explaining what they are seeing and hearing in music, television and on social media.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
1.Physical and emotional health outcomes 2. Consent 3.abstinence 4.Human anatomy/the reproductive system 5.Abortion methods 6. Stages of pregnancy and fetal development 7.Contraceptive methods
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Choose not to answer
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Neutral
It depends on the situation.
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Disagree
EQUALITY
I support the teaching that an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist, whether consciously or unconsciously.
Disagree
People are not born racist. It is an affliction that is acquired.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Strongly Disagree
A candidates moral values are one of the main things that should be used to choose a candidate. The elected official represents you. You would want them to have integrity and high moral standards.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
