QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Did not answer

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

ECONOMY

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Did not answer

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Did not answer

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Neutral

I do believe that America is a melting pot of many faiths. I honor the Pledge of Allegiance and what it stands for and that we are one nation under God.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Did not answer

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

EDUCATION

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

I feel parents should be able to speak, unless they are being physical or disrespecting guidelines. We should all be able to exchange ideas respectfully.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, American History, Personal Finances, Informational Technology, Physical Fitness, Art & Music, Foreign Language, Vocational Learning, (SEL taught with focus on character building, ie. Kindness, Integrity, Self Discipline, can be beneficial to our youth, without political tone).

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Agree

I believe any Sex Ed information should be shared with parents, in order to have a team effort on what our children are about to learn. It can open conversation and learning experience. In some cases a child may not be able to handle such materials and should have the option to not participate. SEL, if taught without political tone, can teach a child character building qualities such as integrity, self-discipline, kindness and character.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

Our children are not the main focus in WCPSS. Teachers feel their hands are tied, and they do not have admin support. WCPSS learning loss is at an alarming rate. Math1 scores at 79% non proficient proves we need to focus on programs that will help our students with academic recovery, especially Math and Reading. Our current curriculum is failing our students, and we need to put our funds towards what will work for our students, and provide the support our teachers need to do that.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Did not answer

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

Every child is unique. Each family should be able to evaluate and pursue what works best for their child's learning experience.

What is the function of the local school board?

Local school board should represent their community visions and values through policies, curriculum, and goals, to meet our students educational needs. Their main objectives should be the best outcome for our students. WCPSS is boasting a 90% graduation rate, however, our Math1 high school math students have 79% not-proficient scores. Our 3rd grade reading is 50% not-proficient. Our students are not failing, we are failing them, by not addressing such a learning loss, and advancing them to the next level, without the skills they need, and without the fundamental building blocks. Our students and teachers are being ignored. As a school board member I will work hard to create solid policies and programs that best support our students, and teachers. I will advocate to remove ineffective spending, failing curriculum, to get back to basics, remove politics out of the classroom, remediate our current learning loss, and provide our teachers with the resources they need to have a successful classroom.

Do you support the National School Board Association's characterization of parents who speak out at school board meetings as "domestic terrorists"?

No

I will never understand how a concerned parent crying out for help, to be heard, and advocate for their child would ever be considered a terrorist. These are very serious words. The current board has ignored facts, pleas from the community and lost site of their goals, the welfare of our children. I see many, many parents coming forward with great concerns trying to advocate and help their children.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

School Board should approve curriculum and evaluate resources. Teacher input can be very valuable when determining what will help our students succeed. Teachers are frontline. They work directly with students and families, and see first hand where our children struggle and what is most effective. WCPSS is not using our teachers expertise, or family input, as an evaluation tool that could help our children reach higher levels of retention and comprehension. If the curriculum is failing our students WCPSS should adjust accordingly.

Who has the ultimate right to control the education of children in public schools? (a) parents (b) teachers (c)school boards.

Parents vote in a school board that align with their core values and visions. For that reason I believe parents would have the majority say in how their child’s education should look. We depend on the teachers expertise to teach our children educational material to help them reach their goals, and become a productive citizen. The school board will help define that success by providing the proper guidance, tools and resources needed to reach those goals.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Title IX has been effective in helping students stay safe, and protected from sexual harassment.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Fifth grade is a common age to introduce age-appropriate educational material to students about body development and health. As they enter middle school further discussion about healthy decisions and developmentally appropriate materials can help young teens with a better understanding of their bodies, and make better decisions. Ultimately parents should be responsible for educating their children about any sensitive subject matter, and determining age appropriateness for their specific child. Parents should be aware of content available, and work together to help students navigate such materials.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Age appropriate discussions can educate students on human anatomy/the reproductive system; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; physical and emotional health outcomes; consent; abstinence and contraceptive methods. Based on grade level, age appropriate materials should serve the purpose of educating students with a clear understanding of facts and safety.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Did not answer

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Parents should always be responsible for any medical healthcare of their child.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

School is for education. All medical needs should be left to families and their doctors.

EQUALITY

I support the teaching that an individual, solely by virtue of his or her race, is inherently racist, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Strongly Disagree

The idea of teaching someone they are racist is divisive. Unity comes when we bring each other together. We are all created equal, and we should treat each other with respect, kindness, and care.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

Our community will vote to have a candidate represent their moral values, therefore, it is important to know they align with what the community needs.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I consider myself a conservative because I believe in free market, and limited government control over our every day lives. I believe strong family values and morals help provide a healthy community.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have been volunteering with our schools for the past 11 years, and counting. With two teens in high school, I have had many opportunities to work with the teachers, and students first hand. I have seen the struggles they face. I will work hard to support our teachers and provide the resources they desperately need to have a successful classroom, and welcome the opportunity to share ideas on how to best serve our community. I believe a leader does not necessarily start with all the answers, rather always takes the extra step to continuously learn, and move in the positive direction towards their goals. I will work hard to get to the source of challenges we face and bring teachers, parents and students together to achieve the best outcome.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

Did not answer

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

Enough documentation has been provided to show that this is harmful to the development and well being of our children.
