QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is a personal and private healthcare choice, as such, it is something that needs to be decided privately by the patient and their medical provider. Thus, as an elected official and legislator, it is not my place to give opinion on someone's personal healthcare choice. It is only my place to provide legislation and support for constituents rights to privacy and rights to make their own responsible individual healthcare choices, without governmental interference in those decisions.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Abortion providers are healthcare providers. As healthcare providers they should be eligible to receive government funding just as any other healthcare provider is.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

We provide death with dignity through euthanasia to our pets because it is considered humane and compassionate. Why would we prevent the same for people who can actually convey their terminal health wishes to their healthcare providers? This topic, the same as abortion, is a healthcare issue that should be a private decision between the responsible individual it effects and their healthcare provider, without governmental interference in those decisions.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Make everyone pay their fair share, this includes gas drillers (aka, the fossil fuel industry) who are not paying and are also taking well over $3.8 billion dollars a year in giveaways from our commonwealth. Why? Because the status quo politicians continue to choose their billion dollar corporate sponsors and self interests over their constituents. The current unfair tax system leaves small and medium-sized local businesses who pay their taxes to shoulder an unfair share of the burden because large companies pay nothing in corporate taxes. End tax loopholes for the wealthy and provide clean up the tax code to help hard working families so they can pay their bills and also provide small businesses some breaks that have been historically reserved only for the multi-billion dollar companies that do not need them. PA's small businesses provide a large portion of our jobs, they deserve equality and tax relief to sustain and grow their businesses. Lower consumer taxes on gas, the lower rate could be absorbed if the large corporations paid their fair share of taxes. Lower property taxes for all and remove property taxes all together on those over 65, if the state and federal government paid a bigger share of the public school taxes, which many other states do, the local governments would be able to reduce the taxes needed to support the districts schools.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Currently under democratic leadership both the federal and state government is budgeting responsibly. The federal government is working down the deficit passed down by the previous republican leadership and the state has not only rebounded from the republican deficit they were handed, but their is now a surplus in a rainy day fund. As far as spending, there is always room for improvement by taking a closer look at the effectiveness of the programs that are being paid for and reallocating funds when it is found money is not being spent well. One thing that I would not have supported in PA is the 2022 reduction in the PA corporate tax rate for large companies. While the republicans complained the tax rate was driving away large companies, the reality is 73% of the large corporations, including the most profitable multinational companies in the state pay no money at all in corporate taxes to our state. Those non tax paying companies include cable companies, insurance companies, energy companies and pharmaceutical companies. Why exactly are they paying nothing, when we the working class and small business people paying more than our fair share?

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

I support extending public education for community college and Trade or vocational schools.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

Services offered to the public as a whole should not be allowed to discriminate against others, regardless of moral or religious beliefs. If an individual or business wants to only serve a specific population, than that individual or business should privatize and only be open to a members only population, such as a private members only club, which is closed to the public.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

A church that does not abide by the laws of our state or government as outlined in their business filing status should be subject to the same treatment as any other business. When those laws are broken or not adhered to, then if warranted by law it should be closed.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Employers should be allowed to require when there is a purpose or scientific evidence that by not having them it will put the individual or others at risk for grave illness or worse, and when such requirements do not discriminate against a specific protected class. If an individual does not want to vaccinate, if a viable alternative is available it should be offered. From a safety risk perspective, employers are expected to maintain a safe work environment for all employees, this topic is a safety issue. Restricting employers on this issue, could potentially leave the employer open to liability risk. Ultimately, if the person does not want to agree to the terms of their employer for employment, they have the option to work for a different employer. This specific topic is a perfect example of why Unions are still vital and important to our country. This issue and others are topics a Union can assess and evaluate for their Union members to ensure the rights of employees are being respected.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Monitor, manage, cut off supply and finances.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

Israel should withdraw from the occupied territories or grant Palestinians under its control full rights, but this is something that is far more complicated and something those groups involved need to resolve for peace.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

While security is essential, spending endless amounts of resources and money on securing a border is not the complete answer to immigration. If our immigration policies and processes are improved than the actual physical border itself would become less of an issue.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Law abiding persons that do not pose a threat to our country or citizens and that go through the proper legal processes for entry.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Disagree

While I do strongly support school choice, I do not support voucher programs or any other programs that take away from the public school system and give to private schools.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

Religion has no place in our government and needs to remain separate from it.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Every human deserves equal rights under our laws. When a specific class is not receiving equal rights, such as this class, than it is important to include the class in our laws to provide equal rights protection.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

The religious part of marriage should always be excluded from any governmental authority in the name of separation of church and state. Leaving only the legal union of marriage for government legislation. As a government, we should never discriminate between classes or groups because all under our constitution are to be treated equally. Thus the government has not only authority, but an obligation to change legal union of one man and one woman to union between two people.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Agree

Bans on CRT would be a ban on telling the truth of our history. The recent uproar on CRT bans in our K through 12 grade schools is political rhetoric, CRT is not even taught in K-12. CRT is valuable in helping us see how racism has affected our country and provides an understanding of that affect that can help us create fair policy and legislation for all.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in a higher power, and believe we all have an individual right to religious freedom of choice. As an individual personal choice, the line between church and state needs to remain intact.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

Photo identification requirements would discriminate.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Protect and strengthen our right to vote, offer more ways and access to vote, stop gerrymandering, campaign finance reform (which does impact voting), get rid of the electoral collage and let every voting voice be heard.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. it creates disenfranchisement, which in turn creates anger and violence.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Neutral

I do believe reparations would help close the disparity gaps created by racism, but I would like to explore the research further on this topic for a more confirmatory response.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Disagree

While I understand the pro's to fracking, the con's of doing so out way them. I also understand while ideally it needs to stop asap, we have not yet developed enough alternative energy solution to be able to flip a switch on stopping our dependence on fossil fuels. So no, I do not support fracking, but I do support weaning off of our fossil fuel dependence as opposed to flipping an off switch without sustainable clean energy replacements.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To organize and unify a large group of people (our country) so that (paraphrasing our constitution), we can provide justice, tranquility, common defense, general welfare, and rule of law to ensure the liberty and posterity to all those within our large group, the United States of America.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

My views very widely. In some matters I am actually very conservative (e.g., responsible individual freedom, strong national defense), whereas on other matters I am very liberal (e.g., protecting civil liberties and individual human rights), . Thus, overall I would most likely average out as a moderate.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am not a politician. I am a pay check to pay check everyday PA resident that is tired of the status quo politicians that continue to ignore our voices in order to cater to their large corporate sponsors who fill their pockets. I am running because I want those greedy politicians to know that it is not ok to continue to ignore the constituents that elected them so that they can satisfy their own greed at the expense of us, the hard working middle class. We deserve so much better than what has been given to us in the rural forgotten area of PA District 124. My priorities for us, the people are: Affordability: Fiscal responsibility in government; property tax relief; equitable funding in education; living wage; affordable housing Accessibility: Universal healthcare; improved support services for seniors, veterans, and those with disabilities Accountability: Environmental responsibility, equal rights for all The time for change is now. For far too long it has been business as usual in Harrisburg. It is time for a candidate who understands what it means to have to work within a broken system. It is time for a candidate who will work for YOU not corporate interests. It is time for A NEW DAY, A NEW WAY, with a non politician who is one of us fighting for us.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Neutral

Each circumstance needs to be investigated fully and a blanket immunity should not apply.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

While I strongly agree we need to dedicate and provide more mental health and community programs to assist police departments, I do strongly disagree that the funding for those services should come from the police departments which are already severely under funded.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We need to ensure responsible gun ownership, including back ground checks, closing gun show loop holes, red flag laws, and a ban on assault rifles.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Neutral

In some instances, but not in all. This is a situation by situation issue that should not be answered with a blanket concrete answer one way or another. If the dealers and manufacturers are negligent or somehow otherwise promoted the violence, then yes they should be held liable.
