Our tax system is outdated, it puts a heavy burden on homeowners by extension renters. In a means to keep state taxes low, while simultaneously underfunding education causes an undo burden on our school boards. This causes the boards to raise the school tax to compensate, by doing nothing to reform our tax codes we are doing a disservice to both rural and lower income areas.

Some believe that cutting funding for one area or another is going to help balance the budget, this is simply putting a bandage on our bleeding economy. We need to address the underlying issues, we as a commonwealth are putting money into our economic system while not bringing in anywhere close to the same. The idea that cutting corporate tax with draw business to the area is a outdated hope which is crushing both local businesses and incentives companies who pay low wages to underfund their workers. We should be incentivizing the creation of jobs, but they only way to stimulate economic growth is to create jobs that allow people participate in our economic system. Not just go to work, go home and pay taxes, this model is outdated and our legislative body should be able to recognize that and adjust accordingly.
