QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When the mother chooses in first half of pregnancy and by exception in second half.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe individuals and businesses should be free to operate their business as they wish and suffer the consequences of public opinion.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Stop bombing countries that practice Islam and stop supporting Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
I would support anyone's right to boycott and divest from Israel. Sanctions are imposed by governments and will harm individuals without ability to affect change on Arab-Palestinian status.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Medicaid and Medicare aren't going away. I believe that government solutions are greatest at creating new problems.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I want to say that private institutions can do as they wish, but that also requires that governments aren't allowed to select, prefer, or subsidize those institutions over others.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
End it. An intermediate goal could end the regressive nature of taxation through transportation taxes, food taxes, property taxes, and regulatory fees.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
All of it, but economic development spending seems the most egregious that subsidizes major corporations at the expense of local taxpaying enterprises.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Disagree
Every prohibition has created a black market with repugnant behavior. The restrictions on moving people have created such a black market that preys upon the poor from other countries.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The people that want to live peaceably in the U.S. and when they want to.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Charter schools is least of this group, but school choice is so good I strongly agree.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Did not answer
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Government should protect an individuals natural rights, and when it exceeds the original purpose it does so at the cost of the original purpose.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Choose not to answer
I am neither conservative or the modern definition of liberal. I would consider myself a classical liberal. In all things, I believe that most people are better than most government.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
During my last campaign for District 10, I called for the condemnation of AG Jeff Sessions at the 2018 Libertarian National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. https://www.facebook.com/al10boyd/videos/1849185028527933
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priority is first and foremost to fulfill the duties of a Representative of the people of District 10. I believe that many problems and questions posed to the legislature in Montgomery can be solved with less government and more power in the hand of the people.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Disagree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Neutral
Government has all authority to alter the legal definition. Government has no business in the sacred.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Neutral
I think there is more to CRT than institutions are fundamentally racist, and I'd be willing to listen to the breadth of CRT.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am pleased to share this planet with so many wonderous creatures. I believe I should be mindful of the world and the people around me, and therefore strive to make this a better place with the time I have been gifted.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would stop the gatekeeping that hinders third parties from reaching the ballot. The primary system favors those most true to their respective party, but steers our leaders away from a representational government. Anything that can be fixed is just a bandage for the wound of taking power and autonomy away from individuals. Power belongs to the people.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Did not answer
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
There still disadvantages that remain today, but this generation cannot atone for the sins of the past. There are people of all colors that still struggle. I don't believe choosing some over others based on race will fix any problems or improve racial tensions.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
At this point in time I am closer to A. There is a point when rather complying with regulations, companies will relocate or resource their materials elsewhere to avoid environmental laws entirely, so there is even environmental harm as a consequence of these environmental laws.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I don't know a lot about it, but I do believe that oil companies should bear the costs and damages to those affected by its process.
