OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

It should be a private decision made by a pregnant woman and a doctor.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

I do not support further government restrictions.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Choose not to answer

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

No

No. This would create a black market for these pills.

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Strongly Disagree

I disagree. The free market is far better at helping individuals with social mobility than central planning. Government meddling in the economy creates and sustains the gap.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

We should work towards getting rid of the income tax and corporate tax. This will allow individuals to keep their hard-earned money and allow businesses more flexibility in hiring and keeping good employees and giving them benefits.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

I disagree. We should work towards a separation of state and education. This will allow the free market to work and allow more innovation and competition. This ultimately maximizes choice and opportunity while driving prices down.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

None

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Currently C while working towards D in the long term. Government involvement in health care creates bureaucracy and drives up prices. We need price transparency, innovation and competition in healthcare just like in any other market. Repeal certificate of need laws to provide more options and ultimately lower prices for consumers. In a free-market system where government doesn’t steal money from the people and create endless red tape, we can still have charity and set up safety nets to help those who really need it.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Government should never require vaccinations as it leaves citizens no choice and violates their bodily autonomy. Private employers should have the liberty to make that decision because employees have chosen to work there and can leave and go to another employer who does not require it.

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

To the extent that the state funds education, it should fund students and not systems. Instead of paying x amount of dollars per child in the public school system, it would be better for the state to give that money to the parents and let them decide how best to use it to meet their child's educational needs. However, in the long term, we should be working towards parents being able to keep all of their hard earned money and use it as they see fit for their children's education.

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

Never. There should always be transparency with parents in what the curriculum of their children contains.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never. Parents should have full access to their school board and be able to give their input.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Yes. Even if one does not practice organized religion or practices one outside the scope of the Judeo-Christian tradition, there is a moral framework that is necessary for a system of limited government and individual responsibility. All the great religions of the world share some version of the golden rule.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

No. We don’t need more laws around identity politics. This does not solve any problems, but it does create more virtue signaling.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

No. The US has had many bad moments in its history where it failed to live up to the ideals set forth in its founding. However, the ideas of limited government and individual liberty, when practiced, allow for the maximizing of individual happiness and prosperity regardless of race. Some current policies, like the war on drugs, have disproportionately hurt minorities. That is because government has overstepped its boundaries and not respected individual liberty.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God, and I base my moral compass around the golden rule of treating others as I would like to be treated.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

No. In today’s technical age, we should be able to have a photo ID of each person who votes.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Did not answer

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Any failure to treat a person as an individual (and not a member of a class) is a threat to domestic security. Our society should be based on treating each other as individuals. Otherwise, we can have no system of justice.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

If we had a free market system where private property was respected, people would be able to sue if their property is polluted. The free market is much better suited for keeping the environment clean than central planning. Choice and competition, when accompanied by property rights, would provide the best way forward in keeping our environment clean.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Government, to the extent that it exists, should only protect individual liberty. It should be as close to the people as possible as this ensures more transparency and accountability.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

I am libertarian in my views. Government creates more problems than it solves by meddling in everything including the monetary system (central banking), acts of aggression overseas, healthcare and education. People thrive when they are most free. If we lived by a basic framework of don’t steal, hurt or commit fraud, we would maximize peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, our government has excluded itself from those basic principles and we have had to suffer the consequences.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My legislative priorities are to expand housing affordability, restore our criminal justice system and expand educational choice. To expand housing affordability we should remove zoning and unnecessary land use restriction that makes it more difficult for builders to build in demand housing. To restore our criminal justice system, we should hold bad police accountable and eliminate victimless crimes such as drug use and possession. To expand educational choice, we should restructure funding to give parents more choice in where and how their child is educated.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Disagree

No. A free society is not consistent with law enforcement being above the law.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

No. However, we need to hold police officers accountable for bad actions and we need to give them less bad laws to enforce (like drug prohibition).

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The only restrictions I would support are age laws. Similar to alcohol policy, we should draw the line somewhere on how old you must be to legally purchase a firearm. As we allow 18 year olds to serve in the military, I think 18 year olds should be able to legally purchase a gun.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?

Yes

Yes, in terms of public-school K-12 athletic competition, biological boys should not compete on girls sports teams.
