Strongly Agree
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Neutral
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Every child deserves a free public education according to the Florida Constitution. Therefore, I believe education funding should cover the required needs to educate each child in order for them to become productive citizens.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Strongly Disagree
EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
The primary function is to create and approve policy. Along with approving the school district budget and any expenditures that are $50,000 or greater. In Volusia County we also have the responsibility of selecting, hiring, evaluating, and or terminating the Superintendent and School Board Attorney.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The state of Florida provides school districts with an approved list of curriculum and resources such as textbooks, software programs, and technology to select from by following the district approved curriculum adoption guidelines on a rotating basis. The adoption process includes all stakeholders including parents and students in the selection of materials and resources. The final selections are then placed on the school board agenda for approval.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Never
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Strongly Agree
Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Strongly Agree
The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Strongly Disagree
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian; I have accepted Christ into my heart and believe that when I die or when God returns to this earth that I will join him in Heaven. I also believe that I will stand before God to be judged for how I lived my life here on the earth. Therefore, I live my life to honor him by being a servant leader, listening carefully to learn, and showing kindness to all. Finally, I believe our lives here on earth should exemplify God's love for all.
I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Each child's parent or guardian is responsible for teaching sexual education to their child(ren). I believe it is the parent / guardian's decision on when it should be introduced and / or taught to their child.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
I only support the teaching of the "Changes" Program with parental consent which includes how their bodies are changing and the human anatomy / the reproductive system.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.
Strongly Agree
ELECTIONS AND VOTING

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am currently the Vice Chair of the Volusia County School Board representing District 1 while actually representing all students. I also Chair the Volusia County Schools Internal Audit Committee and serve of the Board of Directors for the Florida School Boards Association as the representative for Volusia County. I started my career as a teacher at Enterprise Elementary in Volusia County over 35 years ago. I have taught at both the elementary and secondary levels, been an academic coach, reading coach, and a district administrator for Federal Programs and Grants. As a district administrator, I had the opportunity to work with all departments due to the job roles I fulfilled as Project Manager and then a Coordinator. I had experience in writing the Title I, Part A, SIG 1003(a), SIG 1003 (g) grants along with other smaller grants while managing the budgets, distributing the allocations, approving the expenditures, and monitoring and collecting documentation to prove compliance for all grant requirements. I also participated in full federal audits for the different grants I was responsible for overseeing. In addition to these roles, I also coordinated over 20 summer programs for many years to assist students with maintaining their academic skills and or receiving remediation or enrichment opportunities, and managed the district parenting team to provide learning opportunities for parents and access to resources. One of my final roles before becoming a school board member was to hire a highly talented group of individuals to select, install, manage, and repair technology that was being utilized along with instructional software in all of our Title I schools to increase access for our highest poverty students while improving their academic knowledge and skills. I ran for the school board position in 2018 in order to be a voice for all students. I base all decisions on what is first and foremost best for our students. Every student deserves the very best educational opportunities and experiences because they are our future. I am invested in Volusia County this is where I have spent the greatest amount of my life and I raised my own two children in this community.
2ND AMENDMENT
Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.
Neutral
I believe a teachers first responsibility is educating students on the state approved academic standards utilizing state approved curriculum and resources. I am neutral to this topic even though I support the 2nd Amendment and most of my family members have their concealed weapons permits and meet the requirements to carry. I want our campuses to be safe learning environments for all students, teachers, staff, and administrators and believe we are doing a great job with our guardians and SROs.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
I believe in parental choice and medical freedom. Therefore, I don't believe schools should be making this decision.
I support mask mandates.
Strongly Disagree
