QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

People should have a right to an abortion until a pregnancy becomes viable, at that point an abortion is simply a delivery.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

An abortion is a medical procedure, it deserves the same federal funding as any other medical procedure.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

While of sound mind or facing immanent demise from a slow and/or painful disease I believe you have the right to end your life. I don’t believe you have a right to life unless you have a right to end your life.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I think loopholes in tax code that allow rich people to pay less taxes than I as a working class person should be closed. I would also like to see less property taxes and little to no sales tax. When it comes to sales taxes I would like to see the tax in the shelf price so that when a consumer gets to the counter they already know what they’re going to pay.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I feel closing the deficit by relying on reduction would be harmful to the public services we’ve come to rely on (the ferry for example). To balance our budget I’d like to see a diversification of state income by increasing our investments. Somewhere around 20 percent of workers in Alaska are Non-Residents which suggests that the money they make here isn't being spent here, I would be open to looking into a state income tax specifically geared towards Non-Residents to help encourage residency and to keep Alaskan dollars in Alaska.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Agree

I would like to see trade schools and colleges freely accessible to the public because I believe an educated community is integral to a working democracy however, I understand that education tends to be expensive so until we balance our budget I can't imagine a way to reasonably expand our spending on higher education. Perhaps low-interest state loans to students in degree programs of growing fields would be the happy medium.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

To say “required” involves the force of government, I believe that businesses/individuals that have religiously based discriminatory practices will be unsustainable, free-market pressures will make them fail

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

You can close a building but the only way to close a church is to stop the congregation from believing and I doubt that the government will ever have the power to do that. If a church building is breaking the law specifically around health and safety regulations I feel the government must uphold our regulatory standards in churches just like it should in any other business that caters to the public.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B. I support a public option, we the people work best when we unite our voices and work together, I believe that through our elected representatives the government can be used to protect the people against price gouging from insurance companies and drug manufacturers.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Private institutions are allowed to require vaccinations whenever they deem necessary and public institutions are allowed to require vaccinations when sanctioned by the people.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Did not answer

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Choose not to answer

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone who wants to become an American and is willing to go through the hoops of immigration should be allowed immigrate here.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Disagree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Choose not to answer

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I think there’s always more to learn and more to grow. I value individual rights and community cooperation. I value policy informed by evidence and transparency in governance. I value life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B. We only have 1 planet, it would be a shame to ruin it in the pursuit of profit. Alaska specifically has hectares of natural beauty and I would love for that majesty to still be there when I have children.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The purpose of government is to provide a framework for the will of the people to work through. Government and politicians are to serve their constituents as lined out by our state and federal constitutions.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I want to see a sustainable future where Alaska thrives, I want our wild-lands to continue to be viewed with awe and reverence by all who see them. My priorities would be to protect individual rights to bodily autonomy, work to ensure a fiscally responsible government, and to shore up and repair our infrastructure to make for a safer Alaska.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Choose not to answer

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Agree

By redirecting funds to mental health programs we can reduce the load on our police officers and corrections system which would reduce our overall governmental spending while simultaneously creating a safer community and work environment for our officers.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Did not answer

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
