OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Access to abortion should be maintained. The decision to have an abortion is a personal one and should be made between a woman and her doctor.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Choose not to answer

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Tax law should prioritize the interests of individual Americans, those with middle and lower income, and small businesses. Tax law can be improved to provide greater opportunity to middle and lower income citizens.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

In Alaska, the budget has been cut significantly over the past few years. Balancing our state's budget should involve continued modest cuts and efficiency improvements, while also prioritizing generation of new revenue.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Choose not to answer

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

The government should only be able to close churches in case of an imminent national emergency or declaration of disaster. The time-frame should be limited and specified. Every effort should be made to re-open places of worship in a timely manner.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Option A and Option B. While universal healthcare is ideal for providing care to the greatest number of people, it is more likely that healthcare in the United States and in Alaska will continue to be provided through a combination of government funded programs such as Medicaid and Medicare and through private insurers.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Vaccinations are required to participate in public education systems such as k-12 and University education. As long as a vaccination has been FDA-approved and the entity requiring vaccination can provide reasonable accommodation for the rare situation in which vaccination is not possible, than vaccine requirements are acceptable.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The United States should remain vigilant for threats of domestic and international terrorism from radical Islamists as well as other entities and governments encouraging widespread violence and oppression.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
