RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

If the birth is not viable or the pregnancy directly threatens the life of the mother.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

These institutions have no value in society as providing abortions is their primary function. Women's healthcare and pregnancy prevention measures are readily available through many other options.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

Canada's legalization of assisted suicide is proof that these laws are dangerous to "the least of these" in society. We should be helping the sick, the hurting, those with mental illness, along with many other groups of people. These "aid in dying" laws allow communities to ignore those who we should be helping.


ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

As Minnesota’s tax system ranks 45th in the US, it is easy to conclude that we have a surplus because we have simply collected more tax revenue than was needed to support the budget. We must lower our tax rates to be competitive with other states. The US tax code is far too complicated for everyday Americans to understand, which is why we should strip out many of the special deductions and credits which just confuse people. The US tax preparation industry took in over $9 billions in 2012, this massive spending is due to the tax code's complexities at the personal and business levels.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Minnesota's budget surplus points to over-taxation, so the first step to balance the budget would be to reduce the tax burden on businesses and our residents.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Not everybody has interest or the ability to succeed in college. In fact, an ACT study in 2019 showed that only 30% of Minnesota graduates met all four ACT College Readiness Benchmarks. Education must be provided to help every student to meet the high school equivalency standard. After that point, each individual must weigh the benefits of choosing their career path and the associated educational requirements.


RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Apparently, when an over-reaching liberal government feels they have the authority to enact emergency orders that restrict people to gather in worship, then they can close churches. In reality, the government has no right to infringe on the actions of a church. It is at the direction of the church itself whether they choose to close or stay open.


HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. There will always be a need for some form of taxpayer-funded program, as there will always be people in need of healthcare that cannot afford it. A state funded healthcare plan (universal healthcare) will only drive costs up, service quality down, and result in dangerous ideas of how to cut costs. Canada is a great example of what happens when the government manages everyone's healthcare. The gap between rich and poor is widened as those who can afford to travel for treatment will, while those who can't afford to travel and pay for treatment will compete with everyone else in the healthcare system and many times will die before getting needed help.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

There is no circumstance where government, school, or employer should be allowed to require vaccinations, it is a personal medical decision between an individual and their doctor. There are risks and benefits to each medical procedure that each person must make, and they must live with the consequences of each of those decisions.


NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Islamic terrorism, just like any form of terrorism, must be understood as to why the perpetrator hates the victim. By understanding the reason for this hate, then attempts at peace may be started. If peace is not possible, then defensive measures must be taken.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Israel has taken many defensive measures to protect its state from the attacks of several of the neighboring anti-Jew extremist militant groups.


IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

We need a big wall with a great big door. Forcing everyone who wants to enter the US through set locations with a process is the best way to protect our country from those who want to bring harm to us and to focus on how we manage people looking to immigrate here. When other countries expect a large influx of people at their borders, they also put-up barriers to funnel each person through and process them appropriately.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

First, we need to secure our borders and restrict those from coming illegally. Next, we can focus on what direction we want to go with growing our country. Create a policy that allows us to bring in as many immigrants as possible while ensuring safety in our communities and job opportunities for those who are already here. We are a land of immigrants and we need to be able to accept more people into this country. The current policy of "no-policy" is no good for those who live here nor for those who want to live here.


EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Judeo-Christian values may establish a framework of morality, but many believe government is a way to ensure we help "the least of these" as is commanded in the Bible. I believe limited government and stronger religious institutions is a better way to support those in need.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Gender identity is a fallacy and has no place being noted anywhere discrimination could happen. To create a non-discrimination law around gender identity would only create discrimination as a result.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

The United States of America is the least racist country in the world, where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. There are institutions such as the KKK and BLM that are fundamentally racist, but they do not speak for the country as a whole.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Briefly, I am Christian who believes we all have a responsibility to love others. I hope others will also become Christians, but as an American I respect each person's right to believe how and what they want to. We have rights in this country that many other places in the world do not and I will do my best to ensure those rights are preserved for the next generation. I believe that the Declaration of Independence was correct over 245 years ago when it stated,” All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Life requires having identification, so there really isn't any significant reason why photo identification wouldn't be required to cast one's vote.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I would propose to shorten the early voting window and absolutely require photo identification.


EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Any emotional topic can be a threat to domestic security when a group of people become extremists in the name of that topic. We must be aware of potential flare ups, regardless of the topic, and be ready to ensure our citizens are protected from these extremists.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy - The environment fanatics have taken an approach that as long as we don't see it, then it doesn't happen. This allows us to buy from foreign countries with no regulations, sends jobs outside of our country and results in far higher environmental degradation. We must balance regulation and environmental protection to ensure we are doing what is best for both sides.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

I embrace change and believe that we can make the world a better place. When making laws and investing resources, we must look at facts, results, and expected impacts to ensure decisions do not negatively impact people and will not threaten our way of life. History is the best teacher; we must learn from our positive and negative decisions from the past.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

We currently have problems that legislation needs to confront, the most important of these problems are a declining educational system, increasing crime, and inflation that threatens our economic prosperity. The current administration in the state is focused on Green Energy and Abortion access while our cities burn, kids fall further behind, and inflation and fuel prices keep people from living life. We do need to discuss Green Energy and Abortion access, but we must prioritize what all Minnesotans are concerned about.


CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

We must hold officers accountable to the policies that they are trained to follow. And just like every other job, we shouldn't punish them for following the policies they are trained to follow.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Minnesota's current gun laws are effective in ensuring only law-abiding citizens can legally attain a firearm. Those who are not allowed to own guns, by law, must be held accountable and not be allowed to attain guns in the interest of public safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
