OTHER INFORMATION
During The School District of Lee County School Board Meeting on 05/09/2023, candidate voted in favor of Approving to Adopt Policy 2.113, Guardian Program.
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
My Christian faith is my guiding compass, and it shapes my deep conviction that all human life is sacred and deserves full legal protection—from the moment of conception until natural death
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
The school district’s role is to work with both the student and the parent or guardian to help the student stay on track for graduation and future success. For students who become parents, our district offers a specialized program that allows them to continue their education while providing on-site childcare for their child. The goal is to ensure that a pregnancy or becoming a parent does not prevent a student from earning a diploma and pursuing future educational or career opportunities.
ECONOMY
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Strongly Agree
I believe students are responsible for repaying the student loans they voluntarily choose to take on. Taxpayers should not be expected to assume that responsibility. An exception can be appropriate for programs that provide loan forgiveness in exchange for a commitment to serve the public in high-need fields, such as teaching, healthcare, or military service, where there is a clear public benefit.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I believe the government’s primary responsibility is to provide funding for a quality K–12 public education. Where funding is available, I support voluntary Pre-K programs, but I do not believe Pre-K should be mandatory or universally government-funded. For higher education, I support expanding opportunities through scholarships, grants, work-study programs, and other forms of merit- or need-based financial assistance. I do not support universal free college tuition.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and school means public schools cannot establish or promote a particular religion, while students and staff retain their individual rights to freely practice and express their faith as protected by the Constitution.
IMMIGRATION
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.
Strongly Agree
I support the lawful deportation of individuals who are in the country illegally. At the same time, I believe public school districts have a legal obligation to educate every child who enrolls and should not inquire about a student’s immigration status as a condition of receiving a public education.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
I do not believe abortion providers or organizations that promote gender-affirming services should provide instruction or services in our public schools. Schools should use only state-approved sex education curriculum, and parents should always have the right to review the curriculum and opt their child out if they choose.
Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
The Student Code of Conduct establishes clear expectations for behavior and appropriate consequences when those expectations are not met. It is important because it helps maintain a safe, orderly learning environment for students and staff while minimizing disruptions so teachers can focus on teaching and students can focus on learning.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism because our present students will be our future leaders
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
School funding is being shifted to other federal agencies because of the elimination of the department of education. These other agencies are then sending funding to states to best use. Before 1979 there was no DOE.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
I support teaching the State Approved Sex Ed curriculum with an opt out for parents.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, Civics, Foreign Language, informational Technology, Personal Finances, Vocational Learning
Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.
Strongly Agree
I believe that academic achievement is number one followed closely by Career and Tech. Every student should have a plan A and Plan B upon graduation.
School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.
Strongly Agree
I support School Choice and I am committed to making sure the LEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT is the BEST CHOICE.
VALUES
Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Disagree
I am fully committed to protecting the integrity of women's sports and ensuring the privacy and safety of female-designated spaces. Biological males should not participate in women’s athletic programs or occupy private female spaces, including locker rooms, bathrooms, shelters, or housing.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
For me, my Christian faith is centered on loving our neighbors and investing in the next generation. On the school board, that looks like making sure our schools are excellent, safe, and supportive environments for every single family in our district.
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
I am in total agreement with the Florida Parental Bill of Rights, which outlines all the above.
I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
Strongly Agree
I have nothing to add as he said it perfectly.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
This is part of my Christian faith and I personally have been married to my wife for 49 years.
Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.
Strongly Agree
I believe that serious conditions like anorexia and gender dysphoria require comprehensive clinical treatment rather than simple affirmation. Left unaddressed, these challenges can become genuinely life-threatening, which is why we must prioritize real medical and psychological care.
School library books that have literary value, as determined by experts, should be exempt from obscenity laws.
Strongly Disagree
Obscenity has no place in our school libraries, and I firmly reject the idea that a book should be exempt from obscenity laws simply because a group of self-described experts claims it has literary value. Our priority must be protecting children and upholding community standards.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Securing our elections is a matter of common sense. If we require valid identification for everyday activities like driving, flying, and banking, we should absolutely require it to protect the ballot box. Voting is the foundation of our republic, and photo ID ensures that every legitimate vote is protected.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2014 Republican Primary 2014 General Election 2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 Republican Primary 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election
I make it a point to vote in every single election because I firmly believe that voting isn't just a right—it is a profound civic duty. If we want strong communities, we have to show up and make our voices heard.
What political party are you affiliated with?
Republican
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Strongly Agree
Student safety is our absolute highest priority, which is why I voted for the Guardian Program. This isn't a casual initiative—I have watched the intense, comprehensive training hours required firsthand. Our Guardians are thoroughly prepared to serve as a vital line of backup for our SROs, ensuring our schools remain safe and secure.
