RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None. Murdering children is morally wrong, and scientifically, as soon as the sperm and egg join, it is a human being, seperate and distinct from the mother. As a human being, that individual is entitled to the rights granted by nature's God (in the words of the founders), and has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I will work to defend the rights of every individual, especially those who cannot defend themselves.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Agree
The ultimate liberty is the right to die. Many laws which infringe on natural rights use "safety" as a reason for infringing on Liberty- Motorcycle helmet laws, seatbelt laws, and forced treatment laws among them. I support a persons right to choose to die if they desire- but only if they are cognizant and mentally capable of making that choice. "Do not resucitate" orders and the like are examples of what I support. Forced euthinasia is murder.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
It should be thrown away and start over. Taxes are a neccissary evil, but an evil nonetheless. God makes do with 10% of your income, and government should be capped at 9% of any individual's income in total. That should cover all taxes at all levels. Spending should be cut to fit within that budget. Any and all taxes should be cut. People work for their income, and should be able to dispose of their income the way they see fiit, not at the government's disgression.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Education budget needs to be looked at, and optimized. There is a tremendous amount of waste, fraud and abuse there, and we are not spending that money wisely. Wyoming spends the second most per student in the nation, and our schools are performing solidly in the middle of the pack- we ain't getting much bang for our buck, and that needs to change. The Department of Transportation is grossly mismanaged and has a bloated budget. Their job is to ensure our roads are maintained, and that seems to be their lowest priority. They have well manicured and landscaped lawns, while snowplows sit idle in snowstorms. We have 2 jets, with all of their associated crew that sit idle the majority of the time, until the governor goes campaigning. We also have a number of prop planes, a bit of overkill, and a drain on those road maintainance dollars. Since those are the biggest items in our budget, that would significantly reduce the amount of revenue needed, but every department is bloated and wasteful. Every department needs to be audited and cuts made where they can be made, and services provided at the lowest cost to taxpayers possible. But that takes courage, something sorely lacking in our current administration.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
Homeschoolers should be allowed to homeschool, private schoolers should be allowed to private school, and students who don't want to go to college should not be forced to, but should be able to choose their own path in life. Ideally, the dollars for non-public school students should follow them, but ONLY if there are no strings attached. Many school districts attempt to exert unlawful control over homeshooled students, and that needs to be reigned in and criminally punished. Hathaway good.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
An individual's moral values and their expression are protected under the 1st Amendment, and the state should protect them. This is so simple that even the SCOTUS should be able to figure it out.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
NONE! Again, this is protected by the 1st Amendment, and any violation is illegal.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C to D. Government should provide care for those in dire need, but a persons health and healthcare is their own responsibility, and their own choice. As we saw with vaccine mandates, government is too eager to make healthcare decisions for people, and that is exacerbated when they are paying the bill.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
None. An individual has the right (and that right is protected by the Wyoming State Constitution) to make decisions regarding their healthcare for themselves (and parents have the right to make those decisions for their minor children). Schools and employers are infringing on an individual's right to privacy when they ask for or demand proof of medical care. And government overreach is always a violation of rights.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
At this point, they should get off of a war footing, and use intelligence measures to identify threats, but we need to get our troops home and return to pre-Patriot act levels of liberty.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The BDS movement is anti-semitism with a new name. Isreal has a right to exist, Jews have a right to live, and both have a right to security. The Arab- Palestine movement seeks to destroy Israel and kill every Jew on Earth. I am strongly against racism and genocide in every form. Of all the nations in the Middle East, the only one that guaruntees Palestinians the right to vote and other basic civil rights is Israel. The only nation that allows them freedom of religion is Israel. I support Israel
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
This is simple. The federal government has only a few jobs it HAS to do according to the Constitution. Providing security and providing for the common defense are 2 of them. The federal government is failing miserably at that. Securing the border- all of them, is of paramount importance.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support legal immigration, People who want to be free, and want to become citizens should be allowed to, and should seek to assimilate into our society. That doesn't mean they have to give up their culture, but they shouldn't demand we bow to theirs. I don't support temporary work visas, either come here for a better life, or stay in your own country. We don't need a pool of foreign workers undercutting our own citizens.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
All of the above. The more choices a parent has, the better. The only caveat is that vouchers (i.e. the money) cannot have any strings attached. Period.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Only moral people can govern themselves, and only they want to. Immoral people use the government to victimize their fellow citizens, some on the streets, and some from the halls of congress.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I am strongly against ANY special class of citizen. The 14th Amendment guaruntees equal protection under the law. Special protected classes are given special access to legal protectin, and are therefore unjust.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
Governemnt should get out of the marrying business. Marriage should be between 2 people and their God. Not the government.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT, SEL, and all of its other forms are racism. Teaching our children racism is wrong, and should be outlawed. Teachers who attempt to teach it should be fired and barred from ever teaching again.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a non-demoninational Christian. I was raised Mormon, but have left the church due to moral and ethical disagreements with that church. During the shutdown of churches due to Covid and the governor's mandates, I attended church every week at what I refer to as "The Revolution Church of Powell" at a friend's house.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
This is pretty self explanitory, but only citizens ahould be able to vote in our elections, and only upon proving their identity. Election security is of utmost importance.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Parties should be able to endorse candidates in the primary the same way that other private businesses can select spokespeople and public faces for their companies. Voters should present ID at the time of voting. Votes should be hand counted by people, and any fraud should be vigorously prosecuted. Eligibility for offices should be tied to the party which a person was registered as at the time of the last primary. Wyoming mostly has good election laws, they need to be enforced, and they need to be cleaned up, but the framework is good and solid. Some people proopose changing our system to be more like State-X, which has more vote fraud and less secure elections, and I oppose those measures.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Not really. Racism exists, but the majority of people are not racist. There are recent laws which are racist, usually enacted under the banner of stopping racism, but the framework is not racist. All men are created equal, and deserve equal justice under the law.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
This is such a no-brainer for anybody who actually knows history.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Once upon a time, we needed some regulation, but it has already gone way too far. We need to roll back to a much more limited regulation of industry.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Wyoming and the US can produce cleaner and cheaper oil than any other country in the world, and we should. There is no reason the US should not be energy independant, and even export our energy to other, friendly nations.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To protect the individual rights of it's citizens.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
https://www.powelltribune.com/stories/constitutional-conservative-files-to-run-for-hd25,40677?
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priorities for the future, regardless of whether I get elected or not, are many and diverse. My top priority is election integrity, and that encompasses many things. Hand counting of ballots is a big one. Whether you trust the machines or not, you have to admit that there are sane, rational people who do not have faith in our elections, and that is of utmost importance in a republic. If we don't trust our elections, they are meaningless. We need our parties (all of them, not just the Republican party) to be able to endorse candidates in the primary. Since this is a rule of the FEC, it will take a lot of work and a governor with courage to accomplish, but since the US Constitution very clearly makes elections a state responsibility and right, the FEC should not even exist. This would allow parties some say in who represents them in elections. We also need to be able to limit crossover voting without infringing on citizen's right to change parties. Tying eligibility for party positions (Precinct and state committee positions and vacancy appointments) to which party a person was registered to on primary election day will do that.My second priority, and possibly the first bill I would introduce, would be to allow for the death penalty for rapists and child molestors. These crimes are much more heinous than murder, and are much more destructive and cruel to the victim than murder, and the punishment should reflect that. Wyoming is quite unwilling to actually go after the death penalty even in murder cases, but it is often used as a bargaining chip to get defendants to plead guilty and accept life in prison. While I am not a fan of that tactic, at least these disgusting predators will be out of society permanently, and that will make Wyoming a better place to live, and safer for our children and women. My third, but overarching, goal is to limit governmental power, especially overreach and expand personal liberty. The federal government can't go a day without overreaching and infringing on our rights, and I will stand very firmly in the way of that. Whether it is standing against CRT (and whatever name they are using since we found out what they are pushing), to ending unconstitutional gun laws, to protecting our nurses from being forced to get a vaccine they don't want, or a thousand other encroachments, I have already spent half my life standing in their way, and I don't intend to stop. Wyoming just passed a Second Amendment Preservation Act- not a very good one, but we can and will work on making it better. Now we need a First Amendment Preservation Act, and a 4th Amendment Preservation Act and a 5th Amendment Preservation Act, and we urgently need a 3rd Amendment Preservation Act to prevent our schools from having armed Federal agents dressed as commandos or Swat teams from invading our schools and infringing on our children's right to not live in a police state. And we need to address our National Guard, and its sexual misconduct issues.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
Each and every individual in a free society has the moral obligation to do what is right. "I was just following orders" was not an acceptable excuse at Nueremburg, and it shouldn't be acceptable in the US. As a soldier, I was given an illegal order by a General, and I refused that order, and informed the General that if he gave me that order again I would arrest him. The MP he called agreed with me. Standing for what is right can be very scary, and is never without cost.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Neutral
Most police deparments are overfunded, and we can cut those costs. If we can afford to provide mental health care as a result, we should, that may even be a wise investment. However social workers and midnight basketball will never replace a good cop, doing their job to reduce crime.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. Public safety is served better by an armed citizenry than by a million more cops. And the Second amendment is pretty clear- "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED." Pretty simple, and tying public safety in is a false narrative.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
Spoon manufacturers are not liable for making people fat. This is a pretty basic principle, people are responsible for their actions, and nobody should be held liable for the actions of others.
