ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Washington has one of the most regressive tax structures in the country. I oppose Income, Capital Gains, Long-term Care, and Carbon Emissions Taxes. In Washington we can run our state on the taxes we have, if we use the money more wisely and are transparent in the spending budget.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Lawmakers massively increased spending in the 2022 supplemental budget, a total of $15 billion surplus dollars were worked into the budget. We need to reduce the size of government by eliminating programs and regulations that inhibit growth.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

A college education isn't always the best choice for people who are entering the workforce. A focus on supporting individuals gain experience through trade schools, internships and other alternative methods of gaining work knowledge and experience, will have a larger impact on their lives and income earning potential.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. The current system is bloated with abuse and fraud taking valuable dollars away the ability for participants to receive the care they need. We need to renegotiate the cost of prescription medications, strengthen a providers ability to give the patient the care they recommend, not what a guideline recommends, and create competition in the health insurance industry that will provide a competitive edge in cost. Providers should be protected against rules and financial incentives that force them to provide services that go against their faith and moral values.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism has become a social construct. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of any minority race, color or sexual preference, these protections did not eliminate racism in totality, but it has made it possible for equal protection under the law and in our marketplace.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am a very engage community member and a small business owner. My priorities for my family and my community involve common sense actions to restore balance and transparency to the legislative processes that effect us right here in the 23rd legislative district. At a state level, we need to address the repercussions of the laws passed in 2021 that restricted our law enforcement from do their jobs effectively. If a community doesn't feel safe and is experiencing a high rate of both personal and criminal activity, this should be the priority for any representative above all other issues we are facing right now.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The biggest driving factor in our country's fight against violence shouldn't be a focus on the tools these people use but the reasons they feel compelled to act on them. I'm proud of the stride that we as a nation have made regarding personal freedoms but marginalizing the majority does nothing but create an environment that makes them feel like they need to lash out. Addressing these issues will not only lessen the amount of gun violence but create a forum to eliminate violence as a whole.
