OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Incest, rape, and the mother's health.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Neutral

It depends on what the funds are being used for.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

God has a plan.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

We must have balanced budgets. The state's revenue should exceed its spending. Too often, the state spends more than they take in. We can never do the Brownback experiment again.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

This year, Kansas had a well-balanced budget, along with a surplus. We must work to not overspend.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

I champion well-funded K-12 public education. However, college should not be fully funded by the government. I do agree with government money that goes towards grants for low-income students and the FAFSA.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

We must stand up for what we believe in. We are guaranteed our right to freedom of expression. I would not expect anyone to compromise their moral or religious beliefs to provide a service they do not want to.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None. We need churches open all the time. God needs to be back in our society.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Government healthcare insurance should depend on the individual's ability to pay. Medicaid and Medicare should remain available.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I believe in current childhood immunizations requirements as well as Kansas college immunization requirements. However, I do not think immunizations should be required for Influenza or Covid-19.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

N/A for Kansas Statehouse.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

N/A for Kansas Statehouse.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe anyone should be able to immigrate to the United States. However, it must be done legally and through the proper channels. I would like to see a better and faster naturalization process. I believe anyone that is not a criminal should be allowed to immigrate to the United States, but we need to secure our border from those who do not want to come legally.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Disagree

I do not support these programs. I believe that Kansas School Districts should have solid boundaries and government money should only go to public education. However, one can personally attend and pay for private schooling if they choose.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Neutral

I agree with the most recent Supreme Court ruling on marriage.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am an LCMS Lutheran. I believe in working hard to achieve your goals. I believe in honesty and integrity. I also believe in helping others. We should look to God to guide us and often ask the question of, "What would Jesus do?"

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I believe everyone should have to present a driver's license or ID when voting.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I will advocate for a state holiday on election day. Everyone US citizen deserves the right to vote.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Did not answer

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

It all depends on the situation.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is outlined in the Preamble to the United States Constitution. Government exists to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

Rural Kansas has been forgotten for too long. It is time that western Kansas is represented well. It is time to bring businesses back to bring the job market back, so we can market rural Kansas to the next generation. I want to focus on growing rural Kansas and providing for the people who are already there. It is also time to champion rural education for our youth. Give school systems the correct funding and resources to get a quality education here in rural Kansas.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

I believe we should fund police departments and mental health and community programs. The police budget should not have to change. A new budget should be created for mental health and community programs.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I would recommend a short period of waiting after getting a clean background check. No person that I know has ever needed their gun the same day they go to buy it. I also would be in favor of looking at the red flags and making sure everything is being caught.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
