RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
No matter the circumstance in a pregnancy, there are 2 lives involved. The mother and the baby. Not just a clump of cells, but a human being hoping for a chance at life. In all cases there should be every attempt made to protect both lives.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
With today's rising inflation and a recession looming, we should make every attempt to lower the tax burden on families. Especially the necessities such as food and clothing. Home values are sharply rising as well, along with property taxes. Seniors and people on a fixed income are getting priced out of their homes. We need to work on tax relief for this population. The last piece of this puzzle is to control government spending so we can continue to pay our bills while providing tax relief.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Kansas has had a problem with massive amounts of unemployment fraud. I have heard figures as high as 700 million. I would start there by improving cyber security, processes, and systems. Once elected, I am looking forward to digging into the budget to identify wasteful spending.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
None.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) I believe Medicaid and Medicare should be available for those who truly need it. However, anything that is government controlled has issues. Waits are long and the red tape to work through for best treatment options is extensive. Doctors are spending too much time trying to convince insurance companies to approve their requests instead of focusing on their patients. Insurance, deductibles, and prescription costs keep rising while coverage is decreasing. Private insurance and health sharing plans are key to giving people the options they need to fit their healthcare needs.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I understand that vaccinations have wiped out many diseases from the past. I also understand that vaccinations have caused concern and even injury to many people. The decision to vaccinate should always be between the doctor and their patient. The most recent push to mandate a COVID vaccine, that was rushed through the process due to the pandemic, was startling. Although district courts limited the scope of the mandates, many had already lost their jobs. This includes people who had exemplary records in the military, healthcare workers, and others who had given decades to their trade. The cost to train just one Air Force Pilot can be upwards of 10 million. Several lost their jobs in an instant because of a vaccine mandate. Healthcare freedom is a necessity for true liberty.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
First, we must secure our border and give law enforcement the resources they need to do their jobs. Secondly, we need to stop giving money to leaders who are sympathetic to this cause. The focus should be on protecting human life, not on who gets offended. We need to improve our intelligence and ramp up our resources to identify threats and thwart any efforts of terrorism.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
As long as immigration laws and processes are followed, fees are paid, and there are enough available visas, anyone should be afforded the opportunity to come to the U.S. Our goal should be to re-unite families who have been separated, attract highly skilled workers, and those who are seeking asylum due to genocide or other volatile circumstances in their home countries. The recent disaster of pulling out our military occupation in Afghanistan and the current war on Ukraine are examples of how we should help when needed...again, as long as legal processes are followed and proper vetting is completed.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be afforded all available options to make the best choices for their children.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Everyone should receive equal protections under the law. Adding a long list of specially protected classes just highlights one group over another.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ. I use biblical scripture as the foundation for my life. I believe that every person is made in God's image and that Jesus died for us all to save us from our sin. As a Christian, my goal is to love others and to be salt and light to those around me.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our democracy. Requiring photo id, verifying citizenship, cleaning up the voter rolls, and stopping ballot harvesting would be a great start. Absentee ballots should be carefully scrutinized and should adhere to strict guidelines to ensure identity. Allow election observers complete access to the election process. Prohibit early vote counting and same day voter registration. Provide state legislatures with legal standing to ensure enforcement of election laws.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I believe there are lasting affects of our past sins of slavery but I also believe that we have made great strides towards equality. I do not believe that racism is a threat to domestic security. We all recognize that there are some truly bad people out there, however, America as a whole is not racist. America is the melting pot of the world, mixing, merging, and becoming stronger than each individual one. The United States attracts immigrants from all over the world because of the opportunities available here. They know who America is at the heart and many will sacrifice everything to get here.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. Over-regulation kills jobs, forces rising costs, and impacts wages. Inconsistencies in regulation can also inadvertently (or in some cases advertently) pick winners and losers in business.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
While we need to understand the environmental impacts with fracking (earthquakes and ground water quality), it is in America's best interest to become less dependent on foreign oil. Our dependency on other countries keeps us hostage to geopolitics and the volatility of those regions of which we have no control. Instead of using our "emergency reserves" when gas prices sky rocket, we need to find consistent ways to neutralize the market by tapping into our own natural resources.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The framers of the U.S. Constitution knew history and human nature. They had to create a government strong enough to promote the public good, but not so strong that it threatened our individual liberties. Government was established to provide security and protection from outside forces. To protect people from conflicts and to provide law and order, understanding that the law applies equally to all citizens. It has morphed into social programs, regulation, healthcare mandates, and out of control spending. Smaller government is better for business, better for the economy, and more responsive to the people.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
My priorities are to lower taxes and support policies that will lower our cost of living, back our law enforcement and first responders, stand up to special interests, and defend life and liberty.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
Police Officers are exposed to risks every day. That risk includes the possibility of being sued while simply performing their law enforcement duties. However, excessive force or unjustified shootings should never be protected simply due to qualified immunity. I support the use of patrol car and body cameras to keep both parties accountable and thorough investigations when a police officer's conduct is in question.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
Many police departments are already operating with low budgets and working overtime to cover the needs of their cities. The answer might not be to re-direct funds from the police department but to create new funds to assist with the ever so important mental health crisis and programs that invest in our community.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The problem with restrictions is that they only affect law abiding gun owners. Those who want to commit a crime will not adhere to gun laws and restrictions. Almost every proposed gun control policy would not have prevented these tragedies. Background checks already exist, although I recognize there are loopholes. However, many of these shooters steal their guns from unsuspecting family members or friends. Waiting periods are already in place if something flags the background check. We all want school shootings, or any shootings, to end. I am always open to that discussion.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
