OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I oppose abortion under all circumstances.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Public monies should not be used to fund abortions.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

I do support not assisted measures that purposefully hasten death. I recognize support hospice services and recognize living wills that contain such directives as "do not resuscitate".

iVoterGuide Notes:

Candidate notified iVoterGuide that the intended first sentence in the answer to this question should have been, "I do not support assisted measures that purposefully hasten death."

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I support the simplification of state and federal codes. Being an IRS-registered tax prepared, I see the burden and expense that average citizens go through at tax time. I would support measures in Kansas to make social security nonreportable.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would cut or reduce many of the wasteful research projects, especially those with social engineering or social justice goals.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Post-high school education is a choice that should be made by students and families including its funding. There are a large number of choices all with different costs. I do support state funding of Pre K - 12, including better pay for teachers and measures that shore up the teacher retirement system. As a teacher of 35 plus years, I believe Kansas needs this funding to recruit and retain a strong teaching core.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Respectfully declining to engage in business that violates a business person's religious beliefs should be a guaranteed right.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Governments should have no power to restrict people from meeting in houses of worship.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C). Medicare and Medicaid should not be defunded, At this time I would not support Medicaid expansion. I would support catch-net health care programs for children in Kansas.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Vaccinations should be a personal decision. For minors, it should be a family decision. Citizens should not be required to prove vaccination to move about the country.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

The first measure I support would be securing our borders, specifically our southern border.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

Israel is a sovereign nation. I do not support the boycott movement pushed by Tlaib and Omar. In 2019 the U.S. House voted 398-to-17 on a resolution to condemn the boycott movement. I agree with the condemnation resolution.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Under the Trump administration, it was shown that our southern borders could and were being brought under increasing control. That progress has been more than relinquished. We need a return to a strong border control policy.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Amnesty claims for the religious and politically oppressed should be a priority. I also support well-regulated farm worker programs.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

I agree with choice and competition. In my state, however, there are only 7 registered charter schools, and about 5% of Pre K-12 attend private schools. The choice is very limited and not very workable. In some rural areas, there may not be a choice other than the local public school within driving distance. I support homeschool, virtual schooling, and remote options.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

We were founded on Judeo-Christian values. The deterioration of these values is playing out in the chaos we now see in our society.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I do not support adding gender identity as a specially protected class. I do support the equal treatment of males and females as they are naturally born.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

A true marriage requires a man and a woman.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

I disagree with true CRT Being a teacher of 35 plus years, 15 of those in the Metro Atlanta, Georgia area, I am fully aware that there is work to be done in the area of race relations, but I do not agree with the CRT approach which generally depends on heavy stereotyping and is not redemptive.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a believer in the Bible and a believer in Jesus as savior. I value life from conception. I value truth and transparency in all communications. I guard myself, and taught my family to guard themselves against sexual impurity according to the Bible. The Ten Commandments are a great place to start.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

A valid photo identification should be required. The vote is the basis of our representative form of democracy. It should be protected with photo ID.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Eliminate unattended voter drop boxes. Eliminate electronic voting machines. Retain strong voter identification processes for mailed ballots. Enforce a deadline for ballots to be submitted on election day.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is not a great threat to domestic security, although some threat is always possible. The greatest threat is in small pockets where groups are incited to violence.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

I generally disagree with reparations. Where I may lean towards some actions of restitution is with the Native Americans;

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Many of the proposed stricter regulations do not, in my opinion, pay off against the pressures they put on everyday Americans' lives.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is to maintain peace and protect the freedoms of the people to pursue life, liberty, happiness, and flourish in their srengths.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

The Republican (newspaper) Council Grove, Kansas, April 28, 2022

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My first priority is eliminate or to restrict abortion as much as possible. I would also be known as one who stood as a protector for the rights of the people. This would include protecting speech, press, religion, right to bear arms, privacy, and all the rights given in the Constitution.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

Police officers are well trained. They strive to act within those parameters. If they do as they are trained they should not be presecuted.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Strong and consistent enforcement is the foundation or starting point for a safe community. I do not oppose mental health and community programs, but not in trade for less law enforcement.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I do not believe that selective gun owner restrictions generally improve public safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Disagree
