OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life of the mother is in jeopardy.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Disagree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

With the implementation of the Arizona Flat Tax, I believe our tax system is more in line with my beliefs. In the future, I would consider no state income tax and instead convert to a consumption tax.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Arizona is current running with a surplus. Spending that is furthest from the taxpayer should be the only line items considered for reduction in funding when balancing the budget. Any tax cut should have the least impact on taxpayers and their families.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

The Arizona constitution says secondary or higher education is to be as free as possible but does not eliminate the requirement of individual support. However, not all children should need to attend college and we should pay attention to developing a strong economy and well-prepared workforce.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

There are no circumstances applicable to when the government can close churches. The essential principal of religious liberty rests in preventing government from interfering with religion.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

None.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We should do everything we can to eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Per the American Immigration Council, “U.S. immigration law is based on the following principles: the reunification of families, admitting immigrants with skills that are valuable to the U.S. economy, protecting refugees, and promoting diversity.” As a naturalized citizen brought to this country at the age of five, I am very grateful for the United States and the freedoms it has provided me. I support our immigration policies.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

If the Pandemic taught us anything, it is that as a society we must look for a variety of educational options for our children so that disruptions such as we experienced will have minimal impact on their growth. There is no perfect one-size-fits-all policy to education, and I believe we owe our children our best efforts to ensure that their education is not a hindrance to their lives, but rather the greatest opportunity they will ever be given.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Neutral

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am Christian and believe in biblical principles.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I would support a tighter voter registration policy as well as stricter guidelines on mail in voting.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

There has been and always will be racism in a multicultural society, however, I do not believe racism in the United States is at the level of a threat to domestic security.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

I believe the purpose of government is to protect an individual’s life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://gilbertaz.com/2022-candidate-evaluations

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

We are all consumers of government, be it in our homes or businesses. It is my belief that as a member of the Arizona State Legislature, we are the producers of government, and as such I must be mindful of the short and long-term ramifications of my every decision on our diverse population. My decision-making process will include evaluating every proposed action, measuring the ability to increase the quality of life, grow opportunity, and ultimately better our state. My legislative priorities include education funding, with a focus on finding creative ways to reduce the cost of higher education; keeping Arizonans safe during increased illegal immigration and dangerous narcotics to our society by working to secure our border; helping to find solutions to our state’s water crisis; working to grow Arizona’s economy and keeping our state one of the greatest in the nation to live, work and visit.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

Given that many crimes committed in our state are the result of mental health challenges and addiction issues, we should provide more funding to mental health and community programs. However, I do not agree that this funding should come from defunding our reducing our police departments budgets.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe in background checks for gun purchases.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
