QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I do not believe late-term abortions should be allowed unless there are extreme circumstances regarding the life of the mother.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I voted to defund Planned Parenthood while in the legislature.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

As we have seen over the last several years after Covid, wages have risen without the “aid” of minimum wage increases. I believe if companies want to be competitive, then they will set wages that will do so.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

I have voted multiple times to remove ESG from government investments. I have voted for bills that require brokers to tell their clients that if a company uses ESG, then it could potentially cause the return on investment to be lower.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Government should never have the power to shut churches down.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

The Obama administration sued nuns that refused to offer birth control in their clinic. That was morally repugnant and should not be allowed to happen.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C. While I do believe the market should be able to provide healthcare options, I also believe that government can offer Medicaid and Medicare to those who cannot afford it, the elderly, and those who have special needs.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

While I understand people’s trepidation regarding the Covid vaccinations and believe in their right to get or refuse this vaccine, I believe the vaccinations that have been established for decades and have proven to reduce illnesses can be required.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

I have voted multiple time to ensure Missouri farmland is not sold to the Chinese Communist Party.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

America has both moral and strategic reasons to be an ally to Israel. This has been no better illustrated than the senseless and unprovoked attack on October 7 last year by Hamas against innocent Israeli citizens. I voted on House Concurrent Resolution 30 supporting Israel and their fight against terrorists in Gaza.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Due to Biden’s failed policies, every state is now a border state. I gladly voted to add supplemental funding to the budget to support Gov. Parson sending Missouri National Guard and Missouri State Patrol to supplement Texas’ border security forces.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

I believe that a zip code should not dictate where a child goes to school. I have voted to give parents more control over their child’s education and where they can send their kids to get the best education, whether that is public, private, or homeschooling. When schools are in competition with each other, then it provides the best outcome for parents and the kids.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Last year, I voted to pass legislation that prevents these “services” to minors.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Did not answer

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised the Lutheran tradition and currently attend Trinity Presbyterian Church where I have served as a deacon for 4 years. My faith guides not only my daily conduct, but also how I approach my views on issues we face in the legislature.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

If someone needs an ID to purchase beer or get on a plane, then they absolutely need an ID to vote to prevent fraud.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe that racism in any form is a threat to the tranquility and stability of the US. The pigment of someone’s skin does not make them superior or inferior to another person. That is why I have voted against DEI.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

I voted last year to pass legislation that prevents biological males from participating in women’s sports.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

A is close to my views on this matter. I voted to pass legislation this year that prevents St. Louis County requiring business and non-profits from adding electric car charging stations at the company or non profit’s expense.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I believe in nuclear energy, and there is a lot of research in small modular reactors that can provide clean and efficient energy.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is to provide for the defense of its citizens, make investments that allows for business to thrive without picking winners and losers, and anything that allows citizens to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I have a conservative voting record over my term and will continue to do so as my time continues in the Missouri House of Representatives.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

We have seen how defunding police in St. Louis City has caused a historically low moral and recruitment of police officers in the city, but also the rise of crime in the city and St. Louis County. I have always voted to support our first responders.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe restrictions that prevent law abiding citizens from owning guns violates the 2nd amendment.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Choose not to answer

I think it would have to depend on how the program is implemented. I would vote to increase resource officers in each school to prevent school shooters.
