QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Health of mother, rape and incest
iVoterGuide Notes:
"I support a woman's right to chose as was defined by Roe v Wade before it was overturned by the Supreme Court."
Staff Note: This revised survey response was submitted by the candidate after the survey deadline was reached and was not considered during panel evaluations.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
Since victims of rape, incest, and conditions which jeopardize the health of the mother are not moral choices, I dont have a problem with government financial support for organizations that assist with helping those people with difficult health choices
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Agree
My father suffered greatly in his last few years of life and begged to pass. I was not able to help him with those final wishes and he had no quality of life at the end
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The tax code is way too complicated for the average tax filer. It needs great simplification
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Every single department of every single government should be required through efficiency identification to cut their budgets 5 percent each year. It worked in my corporation and it should work in government
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
Taxpayer funded public education should be guaranteed through high school. I would support expansion of funding support for trade education (welding, plumbing, carpentry etc)
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
Depends upon the scenario. I would not support for example a Jewish deli not selling food to Christians because of religious differences.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never, but that is probably not the intent of the question. Churches should never be required to "close." However, if there is a public emergency in which large groups meeting would jeopardize the health of the community and create a crisis for EMS and Hospitals or during a wartime emergency, then requiring organizations to "Assemble" virtually is a viable option. My church never closed during the pandemic because we used zoom to continue to meet.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
B - Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.....similar to windstorm insurance in hurricane zones.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
As determined by the government in question after thorough analysis including public input......we have had mandatory vaccinations for decades for polio, measles etc. We dont have these diseases often in this country because of that and that gives me and my family peace of mind.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Continue to identify sources of terrorism and use all the instruments of national power including military to eliminate
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
I have no strong opinion on this matter as I consider it an internal issue to Israel and a matter of foreign policy that does not impact my efforts at the state level
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Agree
I support continued improvement to secure the southern border with emphasis on use of technology to identify illegal crossings and resources to apprehend
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those that follow the established immigration process to the US
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Neutral
We the people are responsible for establishing a framework of morality for this country....including judeo-christian vales as well as others
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
No one should be discriminated against in this country for any reason including not identifying as a male or female.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
I do not think that the United States institutions are fundamentally racist. I do believe that there are examples of institutional racism but they are not the majority and those that we identify as needing improvement should be improved in the spirit of all are created equal.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God. I believe in the two commandments of Jesus.....love the lord with all your heart and love your neighbor
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support use of photo identification for voting
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I support electronic voting and believe that we can create a system that takes advantage of people voting without physically going to the polls. Many execute electronic banking everyday without fear of loss of integrity. We should be able to create a similar system for voting in the 2020s
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes......we are inching closer and closer to another civil war over racism and I blame social media from both parties for creating hostility between our citizens. It needs to stop. It may be good business to create constant anger in order to create followers, but it will not end well.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I do not support any form of reparations for the actions of those hundreds of years ago.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Neither represent my view. But, given the choice, I believe that we can do better to protect the environment while also not destroying the economy if we could get both parties in a room to compromise. As such, B is my choice
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Hydraulic fracking executed properly has little to no risk to the environment
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Protect individual freedoms and provide for the common good
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Please refer to my numerous postings on my facebook, website, and twitter feeds @creedonfortexas for my most recent election.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
N/A
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
In addition to my 30 years of service with ExxonMobil and my 28 years of service as a US Army Officer, I am also a professional engineer with the State of Texas. My legislative priorities for Texas House of Representatives District 24 are flood control funding, power grid reliability, traffic reduction, economic development, jobs, property tax reduction, and quality public education
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
If a police officer is following departmental policy, then I support immunity
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Whereas I agree that additional funding for mental health is needed, I do not think it should be at the expense of police department funding
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Those that are convicted of a felony and have documented mental health issues should not be allowed to own a firearm. Those that do own a firearm should be required to safely lock up their firearms and ammunition at home or be subject to punishment if an injury occurs with those unlocked firearms at their home
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
If there is no willful negligence by the firearm dealer or manufacturer during the sale of the gun then they should not be the subject of court action
