Our Founding Fathers had a full understanding of man's depravity and his sinful nature, causing men to have selfish ambitions and a lust for power. Hence, they believed that the power possessed by those in civil government must be restrained and dispersed, and given only those powers needed to carry out the tasks given them by the people.
