QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I have been and will remain unrelenting in my pro-life stance. I have been endorsed by Tennessee Right to Life in each election since I first ran and won in 2022. The Dobbs decision was issued in the summer of that election, which invoked Tennessee’s trigger ban on abortion. I was the first in that election to give a full-throated endorsement of the Dobbs decision, and I have stood in lock step with TN Right to Life in efforts to protect and defend the state’s law.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Never.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
Yes. The federal government has a duty to protect innocent life. The 14th Amendment guarantees equal protection under the law, and that should apply to unborn children as well. While states must retain the primary role in regulating abortion, Congress can and should take action to protect life at the federal level. I would support legislation that stops taxpayer funding of abortion, ends federal funding for Planned Parenthood, and ensures that no federal dollars are used to target pregnancy resource centers. Most importantly, I am committed to defending Tennessee’s right to set strong pro-life protections without federal interference from activist judges or bureaucrats. I will always stand for life and work to ensure our laws reflect the dignity of every human being.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
Cut wasteful spending, cap government growth, and lower taxes so working families keep more of what they earn. As the most conservative State Rep. in TN history, I have championed legislation that would lower taxes and protect American families.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Strongly Agree
My focus will be simple: fight for the working families of Tennessee. Our district is home to some of the hardest-working men and women anywhere in America. Washington shouldn’t take from working families to benefit the wealthy and well-connected. In Nashville, I’ve already proven I’ll take tough stands to protect our freedoms and oppose redistribution even when it wasn’t popular. Tennesseans don’t want handouts. We don’t want special favors. What we want is freedom and the dignity of work.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, the separation of church and state means the government cannot create a national religion or silence people of faith. But it does not mean stripping faith from public life. Our rights come from God, not government. That’s why I co-sponsored legislation making July the Month of Prayer, affirming Tennesseans’ right to live, speak, and act according to their faith without interference from Washington.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. No individual or business should be forced by government to violate their moral or religious beliefs. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our Constitution, and Tennesseans must be free to live and work according to their faith.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Never. Medical decisions belong to families and individuals, not bureaucrats or employers. I stood against Gov. Lee’s COVID mandates because freedom means respecting personal choice, especially when it comes to health.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. I’ll work to lower costs, expand choice, and protect seniors without moving toward government-run healthcare.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The Chinese Communist Party is the greatest strategic threat to America’s security and prosperity. From stealing our intellectual property and undermining our economy to building military power and spreading propaganda, the CCP seeks to weaken the United States.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. Israel is America’s closest ally in the Middle East and a beacon of democracy in a dangerous region. In the wake of Hamas’ barbaric massacre on October 7, I cosponsored the resolution to affirm Tennessee’s support for the State of Israel, condemned Hamas’s terror attacks, and called on the United States to provide Israel with all necessary assistance in its self-defense.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
The decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention stems from woke policies that weaken morale, lack of accountability in leadership, and political interference that distracts from readiness. Add to that inadequate pay, housing, and healthcare for service members, and fewer young Americans feel called to military service. To fix this, we must restore a warrior culture, raise standards, and ensure our troops are respected and supported.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. A nation without borders is not a nation. And every state is dealing with the fallout of Biden's radical open-border policies. Don't just take my word for it: I sponsored legislation that created a misdemeanor offense for harboring or hiding illegal immigrants, and I am the only one in this race to call for investigations into Belmont University for harboring illegal immigrants.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
America must welcome immigrants who follow the law, respect our culture, and contribute to our nation. Immigration should be legal, orderly, and merit-based, prioritizing those who want to work hard, support themselves, and strengthen our communities.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Agree
I'm a homeschooling dad. I support empowering parents with more control over their children’s education. I opposed Gov. Lee’s voucher program because it was a top-down, lobbyist-driven plan that puts government into our private schools, and the people opposed it. I'm the only candidate to call on the Governor to opt Tennessee into President Trump's school choice program. I’ll continue to back true school choice to put parents first, strengthen local schools, and hold the system accountable.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and pornography. That’s why I introduced HB 221, creating a private right of action for those harmed by obscene material online, and HB 222, empowering the Attorney General to seek injunctions and penalties against companies that make harmful content accessible to kids. I’ll always defend children’s innocence and stand with parents to keep them safe.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, and my faith shapes every part of my life: how I raise my family, serve my neighbors, and how I lead. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and he has guided me through life’s battles, from my service to my community to my work in the legislature and now in this campaign. My wife, Holly, and I homeschool our kids to ground them in faith-centric education. In the legislature, I’ve stood firm for life, religious liberty, and traditional values, even when it wasn’t popular. At the heart of this campaign is a calling: that I can help preserve a nation where we put God first, defend religious liberty, protect life, and honor God in how I serve the people of Tennessee.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
National voter ID should be the law of the land.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly oppose abolishing the Electoral College. It protects the voice of states like Tennessee from being drowned out by big liberal cities on the coasts.
EQUALITY
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
As a husband and proud father of two amazing daughters, I know what a woman is. I have signed the Stand with Women Commitment and am proud to stand with Riley Gaines and Independent Women’s Voice in the fight against the woke left mob that is hell bent on forcing their sick transgender ideology on the rest of us.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
The most reliable energy sources are abundant, affordable, and homegrown: oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear.I’ll fight to unleash American energy production and make the U.S. energy independent again.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I’ve been ranked the most conservative State Representative in Tennessee history, earning two perfect 100% scores from independent groups grading conservative voting records. But it’s not just about my record as the most conservative candidate in this race. It’s about courage. I’ve stood firm for our values, even when the full force of the D.C. machine and political insiders tried to pressure me to bend the knee. I’ll always fight for our families and Tennessee’s conservative principles.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The purpose of government is to protect God-given rights, preserve order, and defend our nation. Our Founders created a limited government to safeguard life, liberty, and property, ensuring families and communities can thrive in freedom. Today, the radical left seeks to weaponize government, and weak Republicans too often go along. I'll take the fight to the left and the apologists on the right to preserve our God-given rights.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The Second Amendment is a constitutional right, not a government privilege. Law-abiding citizens should never be punished for the crimes of others. I oppose red flag laws, gun grabs, and federal mandates that infringe on our freedoms. I authored and passed Tennessee’s Anti-Red Flag law to protect gun owners from unconstitutional overreach and was one of only four Republicans who voted to shut down Governor Lee’s special session on red flag laws.
