Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life. The only circumstance I believe abortion can be considered in is when medical professionals determine that the LIFE of the mother is at risk.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Man's inclination toward jealousy, ambition, and self-promotion is what led the Founders to craft a system where "ambition counteracts ambition." The Separate branches of government, each with clearly defined powers, helps to protect the people from individuals, who would undermine their liberty for their gain.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a practicing Christian, by that I mean I try each and every day to live the Gospel. I try always to love my neighbor both in my private life and in the public sphere - though I often fall short.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
The best way to bring down unemployment is for government to allow the free market to operate. Central planning has a long history of failure. Reducing burdensome regulations and cutting taxes has a long history of success in putting people to work. Government doesn't create jobs the private sector does.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I think we need to empower individuals to make decisions about their healthcare. My position as Auditor, however, is not a legislative position. I can make recommendations for how government can work better and handle rising healthcare costs in a better way. One area that I think we can take a look at is opening access for health savings accounts for state employees, which will bring down costs. Also by promoting performance audits of agencies like the Department of Medicaid we can reduce costs and icnrease efficiency.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The government does not need to play a role in boosting the economy outside of reducing barriers to economic growth - including burdensome taxes and regulation. Free markets, not government, make the best solutions.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
As a lawyer, I've handled mostly financial litigation - dealing with cases that are complex and entail forensic accounting issues. As a state legislator, I have worked to hold government accountable, cut burdensome regulations, and make government more transparent. Most recently, I chaired the House subcommittee on State Government and Agency Review, where I was able to look into the budgets of a limited number of boards and agencies to determine whether they were effectively spending tax payer dollars. Through this subcommittee, we uncovered serious issues, with the State's Department of Administrative Services IT contracting system, which has since received further scrutiny for how inefficient it is.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
The Auditor of State is not a partisan position. The Auditor wears the jersey of the referee. He congratulates Democrats who are serving the public well and chastises Republicans who abuse the public trust, and vice versa. I am not running for Auditor to be a super legislator, I am running to make sure government is not wasting your money and government officials are not stealing your money. It would be an honor to have your support.
