RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
I support one's right to their own body, and I support only the use of taxpayer funds to pay for the enforcement and oversight to ensure the safety and compliance of regulations at their individual level of governance. Oversight in both regulatory and medical practice will require funding to ensure safety by compliance. With the exception to extreme cases, only grants at their respective level should be authorized to remain congruent to public health and preventative measures.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Agree
As part of our liberties, the right to commit suicide is one of the most sacred acts of self-agency. If a patient is of sound mind, is in unbearable pain, they should not be forced to stay alive if their wish is to end their own life.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Almost all. 1. Pre-viability, without question. 2. If the pregnancy is the result of a crime. 3. There is a medical risk that may compromise the Mother's life. 4. The unborn has a life-threatening condition that will be fatal before or soon after birth or drastically affects their quality of life.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Disagree
When implemented with measurable outcomes and limited durations, social programs are proven and effective. Tailored and targeted taxes should be implemented to reduce a gap and provide economic growth opportunities. Avenues such as 1. tying federal minimum wages to CPI and inflation 2. Reduce the federal financial burden on everyone for certain mandatory federal services 3. raise tax on carried interest 4. reduce off-shore tax havens 5. reduce home mortgage interest deductions.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
Spending should not only be cut but transferred when and where applicable. Taxes should be spent specifically on the programs as intended and not placed in non-categorically divided "funds."
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
1. Gov. Provided Tax Services. The need to pay taxes is required by law; however, the average person must pay for services out of fear of a fine or imprisonment. Under any other situation, this would be considered coercion. Tax services should be provided, starting with giving all citizens an annual tax bill. Furthermore, people should not need to guess what is owed but rather be informed and processed accordingly. 2. Ensure equal and fair application of regulations for the IRS and citizens. The IRS has seven years to claim back taxes, while the Citizen has only three years--shorten to be the same. 3. Sunset clauses on tax codes/ clauses that require a mandatory review after five years. 4. Simplification of the US Tax Code. 5. Raise tax on carried interest. 6. Dramatically reduce or remove home mortgage interest deductions, specifically on investment properties not being occupied by the owner 7. Reduce offshore tax-havens. 8. Reduce the upper tax rate, and move to a higher bracket. 9. Increase the tax brackets, but reduce the lower end baseline and graduating to a higher limit. 10. Revisit the 2025 individual tax cut expiration.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
As guaranteed by the Constitution, we must ensure the protection of free and unhindered practice or observation of one's religious beliefs.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
Only when it does not infringe on the rights of others and protected peoples. Furthermore, deferment or referral are valid alternatives for instances of individual observation of religion at odds with another individual's availability of that service.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The Establishment Clause ensures the relationship between Church and State is strictly one of recognition and protection, as identified by the First Amendment; however, much like all rights, they end when they infringe upon other people's rights.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Businesses have a legal obligation to protect the safety of their customers and employees. Safety may come in the form of vaccination, protective equipment, or work methods. Citizens also have the right and agency to their own bodies, free of coercion or forced violation. Except for extremely limited, well-defined, and rare circumstances, such as the protection of public health during national emergencies and citizens' safety under the governments' direct care.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Option "E." This question is heavily loaded and does not provide an option where federal and private solutions may work in tandem. I submit "E," where removing regulations that open up the public healthcare marketplace competes with low-income solutions. Consolidate all forms of public healthcare. Ensure the government is not in the business of providing healthcare, but rather the oversight and management through contracting with contracting performance-based requirements.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
Option "E": We have always stood for freedom and a beacon of hope, but that scope of intervention must be limited. The United States should intervene through all avenues available, such as Diplomatic, Information/ Intelligence, Economic, and lastly, most reserved with only Congressional support -- Militarily. We must protect our allies, enduring allies, foreign partners, and most importantly, the American people. The United States must exert influence globally in our globally connected relationship to ensure our strategic interests are secured; however, it must not come at an avoidable cost of lives or wealth.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
I fully support Israel in its sovereignty and right to defend itself and the equal treatment of its citizens.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The United States leads the world in force projection, innovation, research and technology, and economic influence. The People's Republic of China has taken active steps to thwart, malign, and perverse Western influence through active cyber espionage, theft of intellectual property, and an opportunistic land creation and territory grab approach to bastardize international sovereignty. They threaten America and the international community's lasting peace and security.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
There will always be the threat of terrorism, and we must set a solid and active position against it and those that offer a safe harbor. Actively enabling our foreign partners to combat violent extremism through training and equipping while also maximizing intelligence collection and analysis and information sharing among the international community will provide the best means to defend against terrorism. Preventing extremism, though, is a much more complicated preventative process of ensuring economic and social security at the lowest level of government. Bolstering relationships with the regions of origin and enabling those governments with the best tools to provide education, food, supplies, resources, and protection to their people, but not to the taxpayer's detriment. Lastly, ensuring we demonstrate humility, transparency, justice, and strength to the international community when needed.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Yes, but continue to expand revisions of immigration policy, entry points, and programs with our partner nations. Develop transparent processes to clearly illustrate to prospecting Americans how to receive authorization to immigrate legally. National security, sovereignty, and protection of the Citizens are paramount; however, so is the fair and equal treatment of people.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
If immigration laws were revised in ways that encouraged a legal and reasonable path, this would be a non-issue. It is not acceptable for the continued use of federal funds for organizations that do not meet federal laws until then.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We live in the world's greatest nation. Everyone that does not pose a threat to national security is at least 18 years old and demonstrates "good and moral character," among a few other exceptions. Overall though, I do not hold it against anyone for wanting to become an American and productively be part of this great nation.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Discrimination of all kinds is unacceptable.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
It's healthy for us to reflect on our history and critically think about the mistakes we made as a people in the context of the times, but also understand we are not our ancestors. We must move on, learn, and grow as a people together.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a non-believer but respect and appreciate other people's beliefs and observations. I feel faith, spirituality, and religion have a powerful place in the community and are beautiful.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
We must ensure the security and integrity of our elections while also not infringing or preventing people from voting. Photo identification is only one authentication method, and others should be leveraged where applicable. If they have authenticated their identity through other, and acceptable means, then I do not see an issue.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
1. If there was an increase in any federal requirements for voting, the federal government is responsible for paying for those expenses to accommodate. 2. Implement a federal holiday for all federal elections, and move to combine with a weekend 3. Allow multiple forms of authentication and identification. 4. Ensure all voting systems are FISMA compliant. 5. Reform voter registration 6. Modernize our voting 7. Allow same-day registration 8. standardize early voting 9. Make it easier for people with disabilities to vote 10. Provide tax breaks to people that voted.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
We must be critical and honest about our history, but not be trapped by it.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism proves a point that may be exploited, as demonstrated by foreign threat actors in former elections. If people's ignorance can be manipulated and used to place us against ourselves, to cause violence or civil disruption, then it needs to be addressed as a people.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Regulated, controlled, monitored with oversight -- of course! Just ensure all stakeholders are involved, including Federal, State, Local, Sovereign Tribes, Labor, and Conservation groups.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I feel like there can be a fair balance between the two. We often think of it as a dichotomy of jobs versus the environment, but historically has been proven that you can create jobs, explore resources, and protect the environment.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
Middle-Right. As a political candidate, my constituent's opinions and beliefs matter more than my own. I personally believe in individual liberties, fiscal conservatism, and social liberalism.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I am not a career politician, so it's a good thing I do not have a history requiring validation.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I believe in you. The position of RepresentativeRepresentative is to represent you, not my beliefs. I believe in the American people and the strength of Alaskans! It is not about me or my personal opinions. The beliefs you should know are "I will listen" and "I will fight for you." I believe in Family and Community Engagement, Innovation, Civic Responsibility, Transparency, and Accountability. I feel my upbringing in a small town in the American Midwest and my career in military and contract service for the United States have heavily influenced my core values and reasons to represent Alaska in the U.S. House of Representatives. I am an Alaskan with a firm belief in individual liberty, and I am called to serve our State and great nation once again because it is the right thing to do. Unfortunately, I feel members of our electorate have strayed from these core values while also depriving our future of growth, opportunity, and prosperity. Although there are lifelong members of Congress that have accomplished great good, the issues we face as a nation stem from a fundamental disconnect between those members and their constituents—the people. My priorities are based on the feedback from Alaskans: 1. Representative Transparency 2. Representative Responsiveness 3. Representative Accountability 4. Protect all Constitutional Rights Equally 5. Congressional term limits 6. Separate finance from the elected officials' influence (Mandatory blind trusts) 7. Encourage economic growth 8. Diversify energy sources (Wind, Nuclear, Geothermal, Wood/Coal) 9. Address PM2.5 10. Develop the arctic for the future 11. National security, economic, and logistical needs (Expansion of Deep Sea Ports, Increase Icebreaker, revise laws) 12. Revisit the Jones Act 13. Bring Alaska to the forefront of National and Regional Security. 14. Work with State, Local, Sovereign Tribal, and Business groups on all issues. 15. Protect Alaskan crabbing and fishing (Bycatch regulations, enforcement) 16. Expand federal and State cooperation in reducing domestic violence. 17. Protect U.S. supply chains (Expand highways, railways, shipping, air...) 18. Seek ways to ensure energy and refining exports increase while decreasing the cost of fuel. 19. Reduce regulatory and tax burdens on Alaskans. 20. Healthcare system reform (Public, Native, Veteran) 21. Develop and expand apprenticeship programs, leading to higher education, trades, and professional services (Medical, Legal, Engineering). 22. Education system reform (Lending and Teaching). 23. Bring federal funding into the State via defense, infrastructure, and research & innovation avenues. 24. Empower law enforcement, but increase accountability and oversight. 25. Set a long-term Representative plan for my replacements. 26. Grow and develop Alaskans for the seat next. People who are eager to engage in the political process, the non-career politicians that I wish to empower, and prepare to represent the people next. I have no intention of sitting in the seat as a career, let alone multiple. I plan to disrupt the system, engage the people, and depart my term for the next Representative to carry on the tradition set forth by our founders in 1788. I thank my Family, wonderful wife, and two children, those around me who believe in doing what's right, my mentors, and the failures. Although I would appreciate your vote, I wish you to vote for your reasons and the right reasons, not because you feel your vote will be wasted, or perhaps a lesser of two evils. If you do not wish to vote for me, vote for one of the many other red blood Americans putting their heart and will in nomination to serve you. All of us are equally qualified to represent the people, just as you could be someday.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Disagree
Law enforcement does require some degree of protection to address the risk required in the performance of their duties, but not unlimited. Some forms of reform should include increased oversight, audits based on metrics, and automatic reimbursement of expenses incurred from "Not Guilty" verdicts.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Mental health and community programs require their own funding sources, and should not be mixed with law enforcement.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There are plenty of restrictions currently on firearm ownership. Focus on enforcement.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Agree
Anyone is "able" to sue anyone else--whether or not they have grounds or may win, is not subject to my interpretation. If they are simply "able" to sue? Sure, it's their money to spend how they wish.
