QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion is one of the most divisive issues in our country, and I believe it should be limited and rare. I believe our focus should be on prevention and adoption - there is much we can do in those arenas to protect life and provide women with viable options other than abortion.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
While I am not an advocate of legally assisted euthanasia, I do believe that in exceptional cases, matters should be considered on a case by case basis. I am grateful for Hospice and for the work they do to provide relief and comfort to their dying patients.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I don't believe the government has the right to close churches.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
As a State Representative, I have no control over this issue. This needs to be addressed at the Federal level. I feel that terrorism of any kind should not and will not be tolerated if I’m elected. We need to support our military and our police to ensure our Coloradan citizens are protected and that we uphold the laws of our country. Those who break the law should be fully prosecuted according to the law.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I don't believe governments, schools, or employers should be allowed to require vaccinations. In this country, we have always allowed for medical and/or philosophical exemptions, and I don't see why that needs to change. I trust individuals to make the best medical decisions for themselves and for their families.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
a. Decrease State Income Tax to 2% b. Make the Senior Citizens Property Tax Exemption Transferable (To protect them from higher property tax rights should they choose to downsize or move) c. Eliminate Estate Tax d. I am open to discussing non-traditional state tax systems.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
We have a balanced budget in Colorado. We need to be prudent in the future so that we continue to maintain a balanced budget. A balanced budget is codified in our Constitution.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe we should open our doors to those seeking asylum or a better life. Those who wish to immigrate to the US and apply for residency and/or citizenship should be carefully screened under the current rule of law.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
I agree that we need to help fund our mental health and community programs, but we should not divert funds earmarked for public safety to do that.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe Colorado has stringent restrictions in place that protect public safety.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To secure the rights given by God and the Constitution, to secure our borders from enemy threats, and to provide for the people what the people cannot provide for themselves (public safety, sewage systems, roads, bridges, etc.)
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
I have an interview with the Coloradan on September 23rd, so please look for that. Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I want to be the voice that represents all of the voices in my district, and I want to roll back all the harmful legislation enacted by the legislature.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Gender is already a specially protected class in non-discrimination law.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Agree
I don't believe the government should be involved in marriage at all. The sanctioning of marriage should be left to the church.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I grew up in the church and hav always been connected to the Church. I believe in God the father, the son, and the holy spirit. I live my life according to six guiding principles: Faith, Family, Justice, Responsibility, Honesty/Integrity, and Agency/Freedom of Choice.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I believe voting not just a right but a responsibility. All citizens should vote and to have access to voting. I believe there are policy changes that could be made to make our voting system more fair and accessible but also protected from misuse. I think we should adopt a system similar to the one used in France.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. However, the attempts of the fringe left to paint the US as a systemically racist country has made us more divisive than ever. This divide threatens our domestic security as well as the sanctity of our Republic and should be taken very seriously.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. I believe we all want clean air, clean water, and clean, reliable, and affordable energy. I believe we can work toward these goals strategically so that we don't disrupt the economy or cost people their jobs.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
