QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape, incest, or life of the mother. Getting to this point in Colorado is politically challenging, or impossible. Over time, best political outcome is likely restriction to abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Federal Tax Code is still far too complex and it is unpredictable - ie, with frequent changes. I prefer a flat tax with few deductions. State tax code is simple with single rate. I always favor tax reductions.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

82% of the Federal budget is in payments to individuals (72%) and interest on the Federal Debt (10%). The Federal budget cannot be balanced unless entitlements are reformed. Medicaid has grown dramatically since the passage of Affordable Care Act. The Affordable Care Act should be repealed and replaced. I have a plan to do this. Perhaps we could do it in Colorado. Social Security eligibility age should be raised and social security should be means tested.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

it should be funded through high school. Federal government's role in loans and grants to college students should be significantly reformed as those programs have been significant contributors to the incredible rise in the cost of college.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Never

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. But how about E - Medicare and Medicaid should be replaced with insurance vouchers. Medicaid eligibility should be restricted. Employer based health insurance should be eliminated. Employees formerly covered by their employer will choose an individual plan and employers will contribute part of the cost of that plan.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Vaccinations, that are tested and proven safe and effective, for illnesses such as polio with widespread death or serious illness.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

I'm running for state legislature. We do not deal with national defense issues.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

I've been to Israel. Loved it. It is a remarkable country with many challenges. I observed jewish, Arab and Palestinian residents co-existing peacefully.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

US immigration policy should be revamped. We need immigrants as we have reached near 0 population replacement birth rates, but, immigrants should come into the country legally.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Neutral

This is a politically very unlikely place to get, even if referred to states for state by state votes.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in God the Father, in Jesus the Son and our Savior and in the Holy Ghost. I believe that we are all children of God and that as a brotherhood and sisterhood of God, we have a responsibility to love each other, to treat each other with kindness and respect. I value the great work that communities of faith do in our country in strengthening families and in service the weak and weakest amongst us.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Voter registration should require photo identification. Mail in ballots are here to stay. Receiving a mail in ballot should require registration with verification of address and photo ID

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Eliminate same day voter registration. Require photo ID to register to vote. Periodically update the voter roles. In my door to door work, I find high numbers of names on voter roles who no longer live at the registration address. Many of such people still receive ballots. Our system should be easy to vote and hard to cheat.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

We have come a very long way in the United States in my life. We have a ways to go, but, I do not consider the racism that does exist to be a threat to domestic security.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To enable the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To provide for national defense and public safety. To provide and maintain key infrastructure. To assist those who really are on the first rung of life, but to not create dependence.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Did not answer

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I have significant experience in four areas - Business - I am a business owner and very engaged in mitigating government practices that significantly complicate being in business. I am engaged in the community having co-founded 3 non profits, all designed to Make Life Better. I have a large famil - 5 married children and 20 grandchildren. Family is the greatest laboratory for learning and for challenge in life. I have been in this crucible of family joy and family challenge. I have grandchildren in our schools, which keeps me focused on what is happening in our schools and what could be much, much better. I have been involved in envisioning and bringing about significant change in government systems - such as sales tax, and have been a key part of improving the system for all. I understand problem identification, solution identification, collaboration and problem resolution.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

Taking away qualified immunity in Colorado has had devastating effects on police officer recruiting and retention and on public safety.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I would restrict purchase of some weapons to people over 21 with no criminal history.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree
