QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I will never vote to ban abortion and believe the decision by the United States Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) was the correct one. That said, I would advise against abortion, and would present all viable alternatives. If a woman still chooses abortion, within the parameters of Roe v. Wade, the decision should be honored.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

Provided the person is independently assessed to be of sound mind by at least three medical providers and death is certain and imminent.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

A business cannot discriminate if doing so is in violation of California law.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

When the church poses an unacceptable danger to the residents of California.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Engage the countries involved in open discussion and employ treaties and accords. Treaties and accords among countries are important to ensure national security and economic stability. They should be fair and balanced, and mutually benefit the countries involved.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

I am vaccinated and I encourage everyone to do so as soon as possible. I wear a mask when I feel doing so is necessary. I also wear a mask when verbally requested, even when I don't think it's necessary. I would allow for indoor dining and similar activities without requiring vaccination or a mask. Our children must be taught in-school. I would not require that teachers be vaccinated, or that students wear masks, but I would honor a district's decision to require such if they felt it was necessary. The same goes for requiring vaccinations to attend concerts and sporting events. Those decisions should be made by each district, county, or establishment and not by the Governor of California unless absolutely necessary.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

I support an annual tax at a rate of 1% of a California resident's worldwide net worth in excess of $50,000,000, or in excess of $25,000,000 in the case of a married taxpayer filing separately.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would wind down and end the high-speed rail project, finding whatever way possible to salvage what has been completed to this point.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

If you are or wish to live in the United States of America and desire to stay and become a U.S. citizen, there should be a clear and efficient path for you to do so. That does not mean that all persons will be granted citizenship, but it does mean that all persons will be given an opportunity to meet the necessary requirements. I have personal experience with the inefficiency of our immigration system in connection with the adoption of my daughter Melinda from the Federated States of Micronesia. There needs to be change.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Disagree

If you want to go to a private school and pay tuition to do so, go ahead. My first priority however is to ensure that our public schools provide our children with the best education possible.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am satisfied with the current laws in California regarding gun ownership.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Disagree

There might be a circumstance where the facts call for civil liability, but as a general rule, I disagree.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To serve and protect the people.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

www.skee4gov.com

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

Please look at www.skee4gov.com and give me your thoughts by email, through social media, or by calling me at (714) 875-5130.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in Good and am searching for God. I believe that if you do good, and you be good, that good things will follow. I have reached out for God in times of despair, so I must believe in God, yet the attorney in me wants empirical proof of an all mighty being who can answer my prayers. I have read Lee Strobel's "The Case for Christ." I'm still searching. For now, I intend to be the best person I can.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

None at this time.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. It is real and exists throughout the United States.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
