RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
I am Pro Life and Circumstantial Pro Choice. The government should not have any say in what impacts an individual's morals, ethics, religious bounds, or other. I BELIEVE in funding institutes like Planned Parenthood as they provide many tools for those who are not only pregnant but also struggle in getting pregnant. Only 3% of what Planned Parenthood does is abortion related. Additionally, I believe if contraceptives for men is free, so should women's reproductive health products.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
I again do not believe that the government should have a say in what coordinates with a persons morals, ethics or religious institutes that’s they themselves have. I believe that the US government stepped into a realm of “unwilling to be the bad guy” once they sided in Roe vs Wade which consequently requires them to write law that continues to challenge a personal belief, faith, etc.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Rape cases and terminal health risk potential death to the mother. An ignored systemic flaw currently unrelated to the above is that abortion only gives the mother a say. Many women choose to get abortions with no regard to the second party in relative cases that (do not involve rape) with no regard to men having a say in what would and often does impact the psychology of both men AND women as it pertains to by choice abortions.
iVoterGuide Notes:
Candidate clarified, "We need to make The Morning After Pill and Birth Control COST FREE so there are no excuses. We need to make them ACCESSIBLE so there are no excuses. #PlannedParenthood Always exceptions but make THAT the 1%, ProChoice. We have WAY too many who cannot afford or access these. Do not discount the mental anguish a woman endures, sometimes for a lifetime. Do not discount the mental anguish a family endures, sometimes for a lifetime, when faced with days, weeks and months of waiting/ often times tormented by this possible fate of choice. Empower women. Cost free and accessible Birth Control Cost free and accessible Morning After Pill Cost free and accessible Feminine reproductive products. BUILD UP Natural Family Planning and Planned Parenthood. Provide all tools available to give women all options possible before choosing. As a male… I think it is vital to have conversations like this with women. What can we do, together, to make this not only right, but progressively right!"
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
This question reads as though it is the responsibility of the wealthy to share their wealth. I do not believe this is how not just our system, but life itself should work. I DO however believe that the government should be responsible in treating all people equally…and this means LOWERING taxes on all parties as to keep money in ALL classes pockets AND to incentivize the uber wealthy NOT to seek tax loopholes and give them a desire to spend they money as potential investment capital. Stimulate.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
This is like asking a business who’s about to go bankrupt if they need to cut overhead to prevent going bankrupt. When will we stop avoiding common sense? Yes, the government needs to cut spending, focus back on our own citizens, and weigh needs vs wants and focus on the needs.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Most government drafts need to have an easy-to-understand document attached. This gives our citizens an opportunity to comprehend what’s being written creates a transparent government without its citizens feeling like things are written to prevent them from understanding completely. We see this commonly with our propositions that are so convoluted and confusing that many people have no idea what it is they just voted in. So, the tax code needs the same attention in pursuit of laymen.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
It’s a constitutional right. The government ‘picks and chooses” what parts of religious freedom are considered sacred as it pertains to certain religions. This picking and choosing has created near insurmountable rectification of “separation of church and state”. A person's religious freedom is exactly that, even if it does not align with the representatives. It is each person's right to have their religious freedoms protected as written in the US Constitution.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
Because the government has polarized and radicalized “the need” for government intervention, there is a nearly unfixable situation that has been created. Just as it is a freedom of a person to practice and recognize their religion, as is it a right to business and how they conduct their business. Religious beliefs were never a governments issue until they stepped in and made it their issue. With that said, the anti-discrimination laws set forth exist to protect BOTH consumer AND business's.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
Separation of church and state. Because you have so many religions and religious beliefs as well as individuals who hold such beliefs, the government will forever be chasing individual solutions for individual people infinitely. Separation of church and state.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
It is not the governments position to be an enforcer upon its own people. Presentation is everything. Our current government blew it in presenting not just vaccines, but the way we would try and combat covid by uniting together to TRY things, such as wearing masks, gloves, etc. I absolutely believe we had a chance to give our population comfort in trying simple things, but the presentation was awful and that opportunity was lost.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Every single person has the right to preventative health and acute/chronic care of injuries. We as citizens pay taxes and have paid taxes all of our lives and in many cases when we seek care, we are told “the insurance will only cover X” or “your insurance will only cover X amount”… etc. I believe in universal healthcare, however, it can not neglect pre-existing conditions AND it needs to cover a persons ability to seek preventative healthcare, recognizing all professions of healthcare.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
If you look at the trend that’s been set… we have been so focused on other countries other than our very own, under the guidance of the same elected officials who have been in office for DECADES who have let our home crumble. The days of putting our own “second” need to end.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Agree
We need to start removing ourselves from forcing other countries, especially those who don’t want help, into “democracy”. It failed in Iraq… it’s failed in Afghanistan, and we are spending trillions of dollars and thousands of lives to seek democracy for other countries while our very own slowly falls apart.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
I love how this question is in the present tense. Anyone who thinks they haven’t been a threat for years is either too ignorant or too stupid. It’s time we start calling a spade a spade and stop fearing how people will react if something distasteful is said.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Simply letting countries where these terrorists exist know that extremism won’t be stood for and working WITH their government to irradiate it. We are way too technologically advanced to have people control entire countries. We have also chosen to be the bad guy/bully to many countries that actually enrage radicals and create such terrorist.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Our nation is built on immigration. This system is not something that we should allow to be abused. Once again, if we turn a blind eye to the on the streets weapons, drugs, and gangs that come through the borders with nearly zero screening, we will continue to be infiltrated from the inside. We need to have a better system in place that monitors and seeks out those who come into our country seeking nationalization. Open/compassionate yet lawful.
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Anyone who enters ANY country is subject to THEIR laws. America is no different. We can not continue to ignore the fact that this is the real world. We are far too advanced as a nation to allow lazy lawlessness.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Everyone has the right to pursue America, amnesty, and the American dream. The circumstances are ever changing, however, procedural refinement is needed to comfortably handle influx and to try and prevent “border abuse” if we run a lax processing system. The vast majority have no where to go or stay. Any coincidence with our increased numbers of homeless? What cities in what states are most dangerous? No coincidences.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
This has nothing to do with sexual orientation or identity. It has everything to do with humans acting like humans. You can’t govern that. You CAN lead by example. We can and should have leaders setting examples as leaders. Watch our current officials in how they conduct themselves presently, and youll see the type of examples they set. It's no wonder why everyone hates one another.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Neutral
"Systemically" racist is a perception. Our government has done an AWFUL job of screaming racism while isolating groups of people based as “all encompassing”… which creates the perception of Systemic. Example: That police officer displayed racism and therefor, all police officers are racist. We need to stop being so radically reactive and we need to stop abusing race as political trend talking points to rile up a base. People are racists. Systems are not. People within a system can be racist.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I am a man of faith. My faith is my faith and I do not expect others to bend a knee to accommodate that of my own, personal faith. My faith is not superior to that of your faith because faith is internal. I expect humans to be humans in mutual respect as individuals with differing outlooks on life, ALL individualistic.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Everything that constitutes “of legal age” requires identification of proof. We’ve been REQUIRED to file for the “real ID” to simply fly… I think voting for our government officials who write laws that impact large communities and nations has much larger of an impact than you flying. But, what do I know. We are a nation of picking and choosing as proven by the last 30 years.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Voter ID and Signature Verification. I could have voted 4 times in the 2020 election given that I share the name of my father, thought his voting place was my voting place, accidentally signed in HIS space and was told “it was okay” and to go ahead and vote. I was dumb founded. I could have gone to my assigned voting place and done that all over again rather than reporting it. Simple fixes require recognizing simple solution...aka: common sense. We have officials mandating vaccinations but not mandating that it’s ACTUALLY you who’s voting in our American elections, which can EASILY be construed as "stolen identity prevention". Come on.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Affirmative action happened already. Although, as time goes on, and we have an increase in mixed races, we likely need to revisit what exists and amend that.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes… simply because it’s been a weapon used to push political agendas, rile and anger a base, and get votes. It disgusts me to see our current politicians speak “to a certain race or gender” and THEN tell us we need equality. It's a constant "do as i say, not as I do" theatric. Yet… we sit here like it’s "normal" or “okay”.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral
I believe in the development of being self sufficient. We have advanced as a nation to be better than we are, yet, somehow, we CHOOSE to remain reliant on foreign oil… which, as we see, causes economic stress on OUR CITIZENS when there is foreign unrest. Do I support the impact on the environment? No, I don’t, however, I do support our ability to pursue being self sufficient.
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. We can’t have a flourishing economy if 80 percent of our workforce is replaced by foreign built automation where foreign companies profit from the implementation and replacement of the American work force on American soil. How/Why is this being ignored? Let’s start thinking in the present in order to prepare for the future. We have to get through “now”.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Liberal
I believe JFK had it right in being able to recognize issues that impacted ALL people and didn’t only say things that his party wanted him to say. This isn’t what representation is about. The best candidates are the ones who are accepted by both parties simply because they aren’t parrots TO their parties.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
@ursichforsenate on twitter (so far)
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No and never.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
Let’s bring our voices back. This isn’t MY campaign. This is OURS. We have issues that matter NOW… not 50 years from now. Additionally, let’s stop pushing the future further away as it comes into the present. Our representatives have and continue to neglect the tools we have to allow for open means of communication in ACTUALLY REPRESENTING. Fielding questions from your constituents to ask a supreme court nominee through social media and digital outreach is the best, most recent example. Yet? We get absolutely nothing. We get to hear 5 minutes of rambling on about their own egos, how important they are, passive aggressive statements about how much they HATE the "the person on the other side of the aisle". We continue to allow this and condone this behavior by continually voting for the same people. It's time for new. It's time for fresh. It's time that we get the representation we expect and deserve. Simply put. It's time.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Disagree
No. One. Is. Above. The. Law.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Neutral
Redirected does NOT mean to “psychological” assistants replacing law enforcement. Redirected means back through the training and return to duty system. I do not believe sending a psychiatrist in place of a police officer is an intelligent decision. Training can be revamped. Psychological clearance through the training program needs to be revamped. And, Psychological clearance post traumatic events to return to duty needs a major update. Too many return to the force skiddish/over reactive.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Why we don’t have physical handlers classes/ required handlers hours/courses but we have driving training classes baffles me. Why we have required continued ed classes/renewal courses but not for guns is baffling. Why we don’t have an additional psychological test that goes along with a. Universal background check and written handlers test is baffling. We need to start SIMPLE. People not in the right mind sent won’t pursue the extra steps. That’s psychology 101.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
That’s like suing Target after you've cut yourself because they “allowed you to buy a quality knife”. This is nonsense.
