I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.S. degree in General Business. I have worked at Sertoma Center, a non-profit serving adults with intellectual disabilities, since 1093. For the last 14 years, I have served at Execuitive Director. I was the Co-Chair of the 1992 Dogwood Arts Festival. I was elected in a special election to the State Senate Distict 6 in 2011.
