QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Agree
This is my belief. All education should be operated non-politically. Parents must be responsible for the health and well-being of their children. This question should have never been asked, as a School Trustee all issues political such as this should not be a part of education in any manner.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
This is a political question to which I have personal beliefs, however those personal beliefs have nothing to do with this public office. As a Board Trustee, we are to be Non-Partisan politically. This should be included in high school curriculum along with other forms of political and social issues. This is what students should learn in a history or political science course in high school somewhere between 10th and 12th grade.

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
Agree
This too is a political question. I have my own opinion, but the current politics may require its use. Politics is what has setback education today at CCSD and nationally. Communication and working for the common good (doing the right thing) are all that's required by government, however those in power want to stay in power, so unless you pay you don't get to play. It's a sad day in America when the office is more important to the one sitting in it, then people they are supposed to represent.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
This again is a political question. I have my own opinion, but as a School Trustee I don't see how my opinion holds any weight since I nor any other Trustee in this office will play any part in the decision either way. I paid my own way 2 bachelors, a masters and teaching certification. The students, parents and country would be better suited by reducing the cost of education

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Strongly Agree
The Constitution has been said to say, "The Separation of Church and State" but that is not what is says... "it is Separation of State from Church." The government is to have no say in the matters of religion. American society and communities (the people) are the determiner as to what can or cannot be spoken in schools at the community and district level.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
There should be no discrimination of any kind of anything for any reason in our school districts or in our society.

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
Strongly Disagree
Students, teachers, administrators, parents and everyone else of any religious faith should be able to pray anywhere at any time regardless of their location. Decorum needs to be maintained however to not effect or disrupt the normal flow if business in the classroom or on-campus (tardy for class and etc...).

EDUCATION
What is the function of the local school board?
1. To establish the Communities expected learning goals (curriculum) for all children PreK thru 12th grade: create it, monitor it, evaluate it, modify it and when needed add to it. 2. Financial Responsibility to the Community who pays for their children's education through their taxes collected. By usuring all funds collected by the government for education are sent to the school districts proportionately across the State based upon enrollment and other considerations such as the cost of living, special needs and institution redevelopment. The Board through the Superintendent must assure the proper accounting of funds from the highest to the lowest level are in-place. The annual District budget formulization are uniform throughout, with the District seeking competitive vendor bids for services on a regular basis at least every 3rd year. The Board approves all financial expenditures requested by the Superintendent after they verify to the best of their ability the information provide is true and correct. 3. The Board establishes District Policy, Rules and Procedures through their appointment of a Superintendent who enforces (implements) them and makes recommendations as to there revision, based on there effectiveness and government requirements from the State or other agency which has oversite powers. The Board establishes measurement goals annually and 2, 3, 5, 10 years modifying if need be on recommendations from the Superintendent and District staff. Annually the Board reviews the Superintendent progress in attaining the Board's established goals. 4. The Board must create and build a communication mechanism with the Community. The Board and District has underperformed in this vital relationship component which must occur to assure the Board is aware and meeting the community's expectation for their children's education.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Parents should never be restricted from speaking as long as the government rules are followed, and public decorum is maintained. I would like to see a method to follow up with parents after the official meeting is dismissed, then or later date (within 7days) with their District Trustee or CSSD Administration representative with an optional follow up if needed showing the resolution result.

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.
Agree
There must be a truthful contrast and compare of America with other countries of the world institutions from America's inception thru the present. The truth in the curriculum will reveal America principals of liberty and equality and its continued growth and expansion in these areas from inception to present.

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Agree
With today's political agenda of infiltration into school curriculum, Sex Ed (Health) has been a primary access point. "Health" should be part of every student's "CORE" education. I placed the curriculum in question #4 above at the middle school grade level 7th or 8th grade. In question #2 above I specify parent review of all curricula prior to its approval by the Board and its implementation in the District schools.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.
Strongly Agree
Since America's inception education has always been created and paid for at the community (parent) level. The Constitution delegates education to the States.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
Strongly Disagree
I believe all schools should teach core subjects and prepare our children for the University, College, Tech or Trade School or Industry job/career of their choice. Politically influenced courses such as those listed above have no place in education. However, truth of the curriculum must be priority, a contrast of today's paradigm with that of the time being reviewed leads us toward a better future and the understanding of where we've come to where we are going so, we don't repeat the past.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
Strongly Agree
Parents must be fully vested in their child's future and must make decisions which best fit their and their child's needs. If public education does their job correctly parents will choose it instead of private schools. Public schools have lost touch with the parents who are the determiners of their child's education and future. The Trust of Parent to School Relationship Must be Repaired for the sake of all of our children and all of our futures.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
This is another political question which school district trustees will likely have no say in the matter it will be mandated by the Federal or State government. Perhaps it is time to consider a 3rd type of restroom, Lockeroom and athletics team.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Health teachers who are certified by their degree and by the States Board of Education have been authorized to teach this curriculum. Depending upon the State and School District, this subject is taught between the 6th and 9th grade level. Again, the curriculum must be approved by the Board with prior review by the community (parents) in which it is to be taught in their schools.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
Health sometimes called Sex-Ed curriculum generally includes the body (skeleton, muscular, organs, glands, circulatory system, reproductive system, DNA, RNA, etc.) physical fitness, nutrition, pregnancy, childbirth, mental health, first aid, CPR, AED training. In some districts Health is a Core Curriculum course.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
Our Forefathers coming from a Judeo-Christian background would lead one to believe and is supported by their words utilized in many of their founding documents that America was founded on the Judeo-Christian framework. The lack of volumes of documents at America's inception and the words utilized in the limited documents would also lead the reader to believe that the Federal Government as initially formed was limited Federal Government. The 13 colonies wanted to maintain their level of control.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Strongly Agree
Schools are there as an extension of the parent not to replace them. If it is an emergency schools should utilize the health care system and permissions obtained prior to the child's enrollment into the school and immediately contact the parent(s).

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
As a retired teacher, retired law enforcement officer, city public/traffic safety commissioner, corporate general manager, controller, finance manager, and multiple small business owner. With a master's in education, and bachelor's in business administration and human resource management (both Summa Cum Laude) I have the time to make a real difference in the Clark County School District. I will focus on 1) The Districts financials to assure financial integrity and longevity. 2) Teacher turnover, benefits and communication. At 25% loss of teachers per year and the incompetent process of filling vacancies and the lack of communication and lack of care and support for the same. Our children are suffering the consequences as they are missing fulltime certified teachers throughout the District. 3. Curriculum review and District-wide focusing on core subjects pre-K thru 12th grade with parent review and feedback and uniform curriculum District-wide. Being retired, I will be working this Trustee position as a fulltime job (40 plus hours a week). I will be working directly for the Parents and their children who placed me in their seat. I will bring their voice and will be in the community regularly to meet, listen and bring back their ideas to the board. I will vote their will and direction not my own. The monthly stipend I receive will be given back to the schools in my district to show I am here for them.

2ND AMENDMENT
Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.
Disagree
As retired teacher, campus supervisor, law enforcement officer, public safety commissioner and CCW carrier there are better methods of deterrence then arming teachers on school campuses. There are numerous methods of safety screening on and off campus that can be utilized to reduce the chances of a violent attack on school campuses. It only takes 1 weapon not properly maintained, secured or taken from a teacher to be utilized against the teacher or student.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?
Currently some States require a battery of vaccine shots prior to attending school in their districts (here are Nevada's vaccine list prior to a student attending school; DTP, DT, DTaP, Polio, MMR, Hepatis B, Varicella, Hepatis A, Tdap). However, those vaccines are time tested and have been vetted. The current COVID vaccine has not been through a similar vetting process and the data shows it has little to no effect in preventing the Covid virus. Data also shows that children are less likely to be hospitalized or die from the virus than from the annual flu. The Covid19 shot is the only shot that I am aware of in the past 30 years, that states have considered requiring for students to attend school. Based upon the data, the Covid 19 shot is not worth the risk of the student taking the shot (boys have an elevated chance of myocarditis with girls and elevated chance of infertility) that hasn't been properly vetted. Current data shows that the Covid virus is continuing to become less lethal with each mutation, while the shot becomes less effective.
