QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

There are enough other sources from which we can get woman’s health information than from an organization whose main business is killing our next generation.

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The Pilgrims experimented with Socialism for a period of time when they first got to the new land. This resulted in great discontent amount the group as some did nothing while taking from the rest. The group then switched to capitalism and private property and the community expanded and prospered. Private property is referenced in the Bible which was the basis for declaring personal property as a God given right.

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Neutral

There are situations where current law may be limiting the ability of a district to perform its core competency: teaching our children. There are many other situations where the district may want to push something that the local community does not want and may choose to push the issue legislatively instead of facing the ire of the local community by making the choice themselves. This should not be allowed.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

My view is that the U.S. Department of Education is unconstitutional. There is nothing in Article 1 Section 8 that gives the House and Senate sway over education. As such, the federal government has no legal standing in directing education of our children. If the U.S. House, Senate and President want to provide money for education, they are fee to do so, but it must be without any stipulation on how the money is used or any regulations related to it. I view it as within the purview of the state government to be involved in education as it is given all rights not specifically excluded in the U.S. Constitution. And, within the Montana state Constitution, the state is obliged to fund education. I do not think that the government, state or federal, should be funding anything past the twelve years of public education. Part of the problem of high tuition in college is based on the federal government guaranteeing student loans: The colleges know they will always be paid and, as such, have no incentive to keep tuition under control.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

This is the student’s constitutional right and is supported both by Montana law and by GFPS policy.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

The role and function of the school district is to teach children. It is not to set and enforce community morals.

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

The students have the constitutional right to the free practice of their faith. This right is also protected within Montana law.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The Trustees have the responsibility of setting policy, selecting the Superintendent, setting the budget, and selecting the curriculum. It is also the responsibility of the Trustees to ensure that all of those decisions are being followed and enforced through reports from the administration and direct observation. And, it would greatly behoove the Trustees to take the comments of their constituents into consideration when making their decisions.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

It is the responsibility of the Great Falls Public School Board of Trustees to set the curriculum. This is done with input from the teachers, administration and community members.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never!

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

1. Language Arts 2. Mathematics 3. American History 4. Science 5. Physical Fitness 6. Art & Music 7. Information Technology 8. Personal Finances 9. Sexuality 10. Vocational Training 11. Foreign Languages

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

How can our students know how to be productive citizens in this country without understanding the principles on which this country was founded?

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

These are elements that have been typically taught in the home. For those parents who desire so, they can opt their child into the school-provided training.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Neutral

What I want to see is the cost of adhering to the federal regulations versus the money received from the federal government.

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Especially with the 1619 Project there are so many demonstrable errors in the training that this curriculum should never be introduced to public school students. The United States was the first nation to ban the slave trade and the fourth nation to outlaw slavery.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Agree

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

This world we know was created by God Almighty in the six days as He planned. Man broke the relationship with His creator by choosing to do as he wanted to. God has provided a way for man to return to that close relationship that existed before sin entered the scene and that way is through the virgin birth, sinless life, death, resurrection, and ascension of His only begotten Son, Jesus our Messiah. I have accepted that plan for getting back into relationship with God through His Son Jesus and have come to completely trust in Him for all decisions.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

This is especially egregious when a biological male who identifies as a female competes against biological females. It is a serious breach of our support of Title IX sports.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

It is parent’s responsibility to teach their children about sexuality. Within the school, in the middle school age group, it is appropriate, with parent’s consent, to discuss human biology and how the race is perpetuated, but it is not appropriate to discuss anything beyond pure biology.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

We should teach abstinence as it is the only methodology that is 100% successful in blocking pregnancy: it works every time it is tried. We should only teach human anatomy/the reproductive system. All else is between the child and the parent.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

This is the responsibility of the parent. The school’s role is to educate.

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

This is a bad question because it is two different questions. I strongly agree that school officials should not be involved in the decision of a child choosing tp transition. As the second question, if a parent and child have made that choice, I would have no issue with the school official honoring that parent and child’s decision.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

There is no way to ensure fair elections without knowing who is voting and that they have the right, as a citizen, to vote.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

None of the above.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Strongly Disagree

A candidate’s moral values determine so much about how a candidate will act in office. If a candidate is willing to lie openly to family members and business partners, how can I ever trust that the candidate will not also as easily lie to me? And if there is no moral values, by what value system does the candidate live?

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

None available

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Did not answer

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Agree

With a caveat: They must pass qualifications with a local law enforcement agency. Anyone can obtain a carry permit. Only teachers who have undergone the additional qualification training should carry in school.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

Schools should only be allowed to require vaccinations when the vaccination has been thoroughly and properly tested: NEVER as the result of an emergency use authorization.

I support mask mandates.

Strongly Disagree

This is an issue to be settled between the child and the parent. It is then up to the parent to determine whether the child should attend school or not with others having made the choice they made.
