QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Abortion is on the November ballot in Missouri and will be decided by the voters. It is not an issue that will come in front of the Missouri legislature.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Choose not to answer
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
If a woman chooses to have an elective abortion, it should not be done at taxpayer expense. However, Planned Parenthood also provides other healthcare services for women, which, depending on the service, should be supported by the government the same as if those services were done in a physician's office, community clinic or hospital.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Choose not to answer
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
As long as the church follows duly enacted laws, I see no circumstance that would permit the government to close a church.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
In a free market with freedom of speech, religion and expression guaranteed by our Constitution, companies should be allowed to operate their business consistent with their sincerely held religious and moral beliefs. Our free market economy allows customers to take their business to companies that align with their own religious and moral beliefs. The government should stay out of this.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Absolutely. Israel is the only democratic society in the Middle East that is a strategically important area for the U.S. due to oil and also the greatest exporter of terrorists with Iran being the main culprit. Having Israel provide a counter-balance to these threats helps the U.S. keep Iran at bay.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C. Having grown up with a government run healthcare system (Czech Republic), I strongly oppose such as system as it invariably leads to poor healthcare access with inevitable rationing of care due to its astronomical price-tag.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Vaccinations that have been demonstrated to not only eliminate clinical disease in the recipient, but also prevent the spread of the disease to others can be required. Vaccines that merely reduce infection severity (COVID-19) should not be required.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The government's role in the economy should be to set up a fair playing field, keep tax rates low, minimize intrusive regulations, support an educated work force and build and maintain a quality infrastructure.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Wages and salaries should be based on market forces and competition among employers for workers. Currently there is a shortage of workers, which has led to employers increasing wages. High minimum wages reduce entry level job opportunities.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Public money should be invested in companies and projects that are fiscally sound and provide a fair return to taxpayers and other stakeholders such as public pensions. The highest risk return investments should be sought.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
I am an immigrant who came here legally after escaping from communist Czechoslovakia. We waited for 3 1/2 years to get a visa to come to the U.S. I support robust legal immigration. It is unfair to those that came here legally and along with the influx of illegal immigrants there is a massive influx of fentanyl, criminals and terrorists. The cartels have a thriving business in sex and human trafficking, leading to untold misery among the migrants, especially children.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
The best remedy to improve underperforming schools is to inject true competition into the system. I have been able to send my children to public, private and parochial schools based on where they would have the best opportunity to thrive. Families that cannot afford to do that financially and their children should not be denied a similar opportunity. Everywhere school choice has been instituted, children in both public and charter schools demonstrate significantly better performance.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I believe that we have to support and respect our police so that they can keep the citizenry safe. We also have to make sure that criminals that are arrest are prosecuted and if convicted, punished according to the law.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Guns should be available to law-abiding citizens without restrictions on how may rounds a gun can carry. However, guns should be kept out of hands of criminals. I do support reasonable background checks and red flag laws that have robust due process protections.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Choose not to answer
This should be decided on a case by case basis. If a teacher wishes to carry a weapon in school, they should have robust training in handling a gun and keeping it safe.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Protect our natural rights and freedoms. Keep us safe, set up a fair "playing field", provide a safety net for those that cannot help themselves and get out of the way.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I see myself as a Reagan Republican. Not just because he liberated Czechoslovakia, but because he worked across the aisle with Tip O'Neal. They stabilized social security and Medicare for 50 years. His revenue neutral marginal tax rate reduction (70% down to 28%) along with tax shelter elimination led to a sustained economic boom.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Choose not to answer
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As the son of a Holocaust survivor, I am culturally Jewish, but attend Assembly of God Church.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. The U'S' has made great strides in erasing racism in our society since the passage of the Civil Rights Act and other laws that followed. There are still individual racists, but there is no more systemic racism.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
CRT is simply a form of cultural Marxism that attempts to set up conflict between different groups of people. In classic Marxism it is the proletariat vs. the kulaks. In CRT it is one race or ethnic group pitted against another. Both ideologies preach revolution (usually violent). The U.S. is based on equality of individual opportunity, ability and merit. Characteristics such as skin color, hair color, eye color, ancestors etc. should be irrelevant for employment or education.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
There are physical differences between men and women, that is why we have title X protections for women. Not only is it unfair to have men play in women's sport, but it is also unsafe. Think about a 230 lbs man/boy slamming into a 98 lbs woman/girl on the soccer field or in the boxing ring (we saw an example of that in the Paris olympics).
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
C. I do believe that a clean environment is important, but the costs and benefits of environmental regulations have to be carefully weighed. Lately, the regulators have gone overboard in a number of areas. Climate change is real and should be addressed, however, the absurdly restrictive mandates are impossible to meet with current technology and even if they were implemented, would have negligible impact on climate. We have to look at common-sense solution and adaptation to climate change.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Nuclear power has minimal CO2 and pollutant footprint. Unfortunately, the regulatory climate has made it nigh impossible to build nuclear powerplants. Natural gas is the best practical power source with a lot lower CO2 footprint than coal.
