QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.

Strongly Disagree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Education should always be under local control; therefore, any government funding received by public education should NOT be contingent on the loss of local control over education.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.

Strongly Agree

Our nation was founded on Christian principles. In addition, our First Amendment Freedom of Speech should NEVER be infringed upon simply because of the location of the speech.

School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Students should not be allowed to pray in school.

Strongly Disagree

Personal prayer is an inalienable right that has been given by God to each individual. This right does not end at the schoolhouse doors and should be unhindered as long as it does not interfere or interrupt the regular operations of the school day.

EDUCATION

What is the function of the local school board?

The Gwinnett County Board of Education and Superintendent serve as the governance team for the school district. As such they set the direction for the district. The board functions to: 1) Ensure teaching and learning is based on a rigorous curriculum, instruction, and high-value assessments; 2) Educate every student to world-class standards and individual potential; 3) Provide a safe and secure learning environment; and 4) Govern the district fairly and openly, seeking the engagement of the many stakeholders that are served.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

Ultimately, the curriculum for public education should be set and determined by a team of stakeholders to include, parents, teachers, administrators, and ultimately approved by the school board.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Parents are the most important child advocates for their children in the educational process; because of this, there should not be any times when parents are restricted from speaking in school board meetings, except when there is conduct exhibited that violates a written and publicized state law.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

1)Mathematics 2)Science 3)Language Arts 4)American History 5)Information Technology 6)Vocational Learning 7)Physical Fitness 8)Foreign Language 9)Art & Music

American civics education should emphasize our nation's founding principles of liberty and equality.

Strongly Agree

When we remove our CIVICS education out of the classroom, this is a big disservice to our children, because they are not taught to value the freedom that others died to give them; they are no longer taught to love and appreciate our country; nor are they taught to respect and honor the tenets for which this country was built upon.

Before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Strongly Agree

Comprehensive Sexual Education should NOT be taught in public schools, except the Sex Ed teaching of physical biological growth and abstinence. Social Emotional Learning should NOT be instituted without the input of parents, where parents are leading the charge, leading the conversation, and leading the right to Opt-Out and/or Opt-In.

The loss of local control in education is too high a price to pay in exchange for federal dollars.

Strongly Agree

I support the teaching of curricula (such as the 1619 Project, No Place for Hate, Second Step, etc.) that emphasizes slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Disagree

Critical Race Theory. My stance on CRT is clear. I am all for our students understanding our history--the good, bad, and the ugly; I believe strongly in full disclosure. If we don't know our history, we are likely to repeat it. However, CRT teaches divisive concepts--Whites are inherently superior, oppressive, & responsible for ALL racist actions committed in the past; and blacks are inherently inferior. This is RACIST ideology, & we cannot fight racism with racism. CRT is racism in reverse!

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Agree

Yes, I support SCHOOL CHOICE, and giving Parents the choice to decide which schools best meet the needs of their child/ren, because school choice would help to keep public school education COMPETITIVE. Just like in our fee market Capitalist society, consumers win and thrive by receiving superior quality products, because of the COMPETITIVE MARKET system. Education should be no different. We are already currently offering school choice in our Pre-K, and Pell Grant programs, why not for our K-12?

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I love God, I love people, and I love making a positive difference in the environments and communities that I serve.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

I support restrictions that prevent biological males from joining interscholastic sports teams designated for women or girls, because the biological differences between females and males, especially as it relates to natural levels of testosterone, creates UNFAIR athletic advantages for these males. Every woman and female should be against this idea because we have fought long and hard as women, just to get the equality we have now, and this is an assault against our hard-earned Women's rights!

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Parents have the first right of responsibility to teach their children sexual education, at the age that the parent deems is appropriate based on their child's maturity. The term "sexual education" itself is a very broad topic, therefore more information is needed to identify areas being addressed. I do not believe schools should be responsible for teaching anything more than human anatomy and the reproductive system, abstinence, and the stages of pregnancy and fetal development, to help explain the stages of how each child was born into this world. As it relates to these three areas alone, I believe Parents should have the choice to either: 1) OPT IN; and/or 2) OPT OUT of any public-school initiated teachings on sexual education. As it relates to these three areas of education, If the public school is offering such teaching, it should not be taught to school age children until the fifth grade.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

ONLY the following 3 topics should be included in Sex Ed, and this is with the addition of an OPT-IN and/or OPT-OUT option for Parents. 1.human anatomy and the reproductive system 2.abstinence 3.the stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student, including the use of alternative names and pronouns.

Strongly Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

To preserve the integrity of a fair and just system of elections, photo identification is necessary.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

GCPS CHALLENGE--LOSE OF GOOD TEACHERS: Gwinnett County is losing a lot of our quality educators and teachers due to low pay, low teacher morale, and high paper-work and administrative tasks that reduce teachers time with the students they love. This negatively impacts are children, especially at this time when we are struggling to recover from the loss of academic teaching hours that the pandemic created. When these teachers leave our district they take with them years of experience, thousands of hours of teaching, creativity, and the passion and zeal for teaching that our children so desperately need, especially in a post pandemic educational environment. So how do we retain quality educators here in the county? I have created an "EDUCATIONAL THINK TANK" for teachers by teachers, that I plan to bring with me onto the school board, with a two-fold plan of attack: 1) We are analyzing and unpacking the key reasons WHY teachers are leaving; and 2) We are identifying ways to address, minimize, and RESOLVE issues with viable, common sense, teacher-focused solutions. My goal is to listen and act on the suggestions and path forward strategies identified by the teacher advisory panel in place. I also plan to take advantage of opportunities to eliminate unnecessary tasks; and help bring that positive energy and excitement back into our teachers work environments. GCPS WEAKNESS--STUDENT MASTERY OF EDUCATIONAL BASICS: We are BLESSED to have a GREAT Gwinnett County Public School District for such a long-extended period, and our children and our county have benefitted because of it! However, there are areas for improvement, and one of the weaknesses that our district can improve upon is helping our children master educational basics. We MUST address our students failing to master the basics of reading, writing, arithmetics, STEM and civics. My SOLUTION: 1) seek to reapportion, redirect funding, and refund programs to support student mastery of the educational basics; and 2) implement my GCPS 'EDUCATIONAL ELITE STATUS' INITIATIVE: My plan is to be the first school district in our state, and maybe the nation, to roll out Metaverse, Virtual and Augmented reality, Non-Fungible Tokens, Blockchain, and Cryptocurrency Technology education as a Gwinnett County Career Pathway. I plan to promote this pathway at both the high school level, and more importantly, at the middle school level, to prepare our students to be competitive in the global landscape, and to provide viable employment opportunities for students who choose NOT to attend college and are seeking alternative pathways outside of post-secondary education to earn a lucrative career to support their families. This program is designed to be "the icing on the cake" that will help us secure that educational elite status of world-class schools and retain our position at the top of the educational ranking where we belong!

2ND AMENDMENT

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Neutral

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Under what circumstances (if any) should schools be allowed to require vaccinations?

The current vaccination requirement system in place should NOT be expanded and is sufficient to ensure the proper workings of our educational system.

I support mask mandates.
