QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
Depends on specific language of law.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
It should be considered to save the life of the mother or to deliver a deceased fetus and should require a second opinion from a specialist obstetrician that the procedure is medically necessary. Currently, this is a matter of existing laws which can allow abortion up to the time of delivery -- this is unacceptable and I would work to reverse that direction while simultaneously seeking legislation to require a 2 day cooling off period and pre-procedure ultrasound studies so the mother can see the fetus. Viable options for supporting mothers to compel them to chose life so they would have the resources to continue their pursuits in a safe and supported environment. Options for raising the child or for adoption can be explored during the pregnancy so the child grows in a nurturing and safe environment. Due to current law and public opinion a sudden abolishment of abortion is not likely a practical solution and efforts should be directed to changing public perceptions and support a TRUE choice for the mother to carry the child to birth. We need to save as many lives as we can, and in increasing percentage of cases to work towards a future where abortions are not necessary or desired. No federal dollars should be spent on abortions or to support any organizations that promote abortion as a solution to unplanned pregnancy.
ECONOMY
Redistribution of income is needed to lessen the gap between the wealthy and working classes.
Strongly Disagree
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Strongly Agree
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Reduce taxes especially on middle and lower income groups. Eliminate double taxation between state, local, and federal entities. Eliminate loop holes for high revenue individuals and corporations that do not significantly reduce their effectiveness in the marketplace but that would offset the amounts needed to be paid by workers and small businesses. Reduce the federal budget by reducing waste and gradually eliminating expenditures on bail out programs and focusing on building a robust economy with a stable job market that sufficiently rewards hard work and job growth. Be sure that foreign entities are paying their fair share for benefiting from US investments and corporate activities.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The state should protect the rights of free expression of faith, the right to assembly and the freedom of speech for all citizens to express those beliefs without censorship or limitation.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Only for vaccination against diseases which pose a definite threat to the demographic group for which it is requiring them. The "vaccination" must PREVENT THE DISEASE and PREVENT ITS' SPREAD and pass RIGOROUS LONGTERM SAFETY STUDIES and be offered after FULL INFORMED CONSENT REGARDING RISKS, BENEFITS, AND ALTERNATIVES. RELIGIOUS AND MEDICAL EXEMPTIONS SHOULD BE ALLOWED and alternatives to vaccination should be available. Treatment choices should be based on the education and experience of the personal physician and can include off label uses of proven safe and effective treatments.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
C - Medicaid and Medicare only. Robust fraud detection and enforcement must be maintained.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C - Restore our sovereignty
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Restore our border security and enhance it to the highest levels. Stay out of conflicts across the globe that involve the direct use of US Forces. Maintain a strong economy and avoid dependency on foreign oil and other resources. Maintain high surveillance levels domestically to detect and deter attacks or terrorist activities and not to investigate law abiding citizens.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds shall be denied to any public or private entity, such as a sanctuary city, that is not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Persons who are fully vetted and complete the required process for legal immigration to the United States. They must remain law abiding and compliant with all obligations of the immigration process once in the US or risk being expelled.
VALUES
Sexual orientation and gender identity should be protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Biological sex (confirmed by chromosome testing) and sexual orientation should be protected. Gender identity is not a well defined category and is often subject to frequent change by the individual and should not be protected.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
The "theory" is in itself racist and inconsistent with the reality of American society. Traditional civics instruction should be required based on documented historical documents and students should be taught the principles of critical thinking so they can arrive at their own conclusions,
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in Judeo-Christian values and principles.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
A paper ballot for those who present a photo ID with proof of Citizenship. Post election audits of hand counted ballots. Clean voter rolls yearly. No ballot harvesting. Election Day should be a holiday, on a Monday, to allow in person voting. Mail in only for deployed military, citizens temporarily out of the voting district, the ill, and disabled. Election Duty similar to Jury Duty for all citizens.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. It is being promoted by a small number of persons to create division. The reality is that most Americans are not aware of specific race since we have become a melting pot of persons from all races and religions and sexual orientations who are judged by their characters and not by any external appearances or internal beliefs. Small pockets of "racism" exist in every society in various forms and is not a credible force in our country. They are a fringe element.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
The answer is between A and B. Reasonable regulations are needed. We are innovative enough to develop technology and methodologies which can be productive and environmentally effective/protective. We are the most environmentally responsible energy sector in the world in our methods of energy extraction. We can implement further conservation and mitigation strategies to offset the environmental impact of our energy consumption. The tax structure can be reformed to reward conservation and mitigation activities to encourage voluntary participation by all citizens, communities, and corporations.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I am a strong conservative who is dedicated to my values. It is possible to negotiate without compromising your values which places a boundary around the issues that are negotiable and separates them from those which are not.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
You may contact my staff for a list of media reports. contact@dipaolaforcongress.com
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am not a politician. Politics has contaminated the public discourse such that there is no courtesy and no critical thinking. Politicians are more interested in sound bites, photo ops, optics, and scoring political points. I am interested in getting the job done by promoting solutions and getting results for the people of Oregon. My legislative priorities are to re-establish the enforcement of our laws at all levels, restore border and national security, reduce spending and inflation, establish national standards of competency in education to allow diversity in the delivery of education (private, public, charter, home) and equivalency of outcomes (quality). Addressing the sources of drug addiction and the effective treatment of mental illness to end homelessness and restore public safety. Place limitations on the length of emergency declarations with congressional oversight and restructure our public health bureaucracy to assure that US healthcare delivers safe and effective treatments to the American public.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
Mental Health and Community programs should be funded separately without degrading the training and availability of peace officers.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The second amendment should be protected as written. Legal gun owners are not a threat to public safety. Efforts should be directed to having more effective law enforcement to protect public safety. This has been dramatically illustrated over the past 2 years.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
The perpetrators of gun violence should be liable and prosecuted for their crimes. Goods and funds confiscated from criminals illegal activities should be used to fund a victims compensation account which could be distributed at the courts discretion to the victims of gun violence.
