QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I have yet to meet a single person whose red line, regarding abortion, is the same. While I have my personal views, especially being the mother of 2 daughters, I would be representing the views of State House District 82. I would need to be able to thoroughly review any future proposed legislation and have the opportunity to hear from this District. I would hold a town hall to share the facts of such legislation and listen to the voice of our community. Unlike my opponent, I believe being a representative means you represent the people, not your own political views.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Staving off the effects of inflation and addressing the current budget surplus in Georgia are critical to all Georgians. I was able to attend several sessions under the Gold Dome to hear, in person, these issues discussed in committee. Several options are being considered that I would support. Lowering the current State sales tax by 3/4th of a percent and replacing the State Income Tax with a consumption tax similar to our neighbors Tennessee and Florida. The concerns from opposing views were sufficiently addressed. The point being, you keep more of your own money in the 1st place!

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We currently have a large budget surplus.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

I do not believe Taxpayer funding should be used in all cases. There should be qualification requirements such as financial need, aptitude and if the degree provides a needed skill. More focus should be on promoting trade schools.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Government should be protecting Religious Liberty, not regulating it.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

None, healthcare choices should be made by the individual with input from their physicians. No 2 people's situations are the same and a blanket requirement interferes with individual needs.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

We need stronger border security. Right now, we have no idea who is coming across our border.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Our borders should be open to those 1) Who have a skills to contribute 2) Have a real need for sanctuary. 3) Do not have a criminal background 4) Those who adhere to the laws of the US. It should not be open to all for any reason.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

It is apparent that throwing more money at schools is not solving the problems in my County. We are in the bottom 25% for competency in the State. If the school boards aren't going to spend the funds they already have to improve the schools, then parents should have the choice to take their children elsewhere. This exodus will drive the school system to actively solve the current problems and return the DeKalb School System back to the days when it was held in high regard.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Choose not to answer

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I am against discrimination for any reason. Creating additional "classes" is not productive nor solving the problem.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Disagree

A marriage is God-ordained if the people marrying feel it is God-ordained. In some cases, it's more of a contract. It should be up to the individuals wishing to make a union.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT encourages more racism and is not the solution it claims to be. No child should be taught they are worth more or less than another. No child should be punished for the assumed sins of their ancestors.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian and attend a Methodist Church.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We need to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat. No other country in the world votes without proof of identification.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Reduce the length of early voting. Georgia has a longer voting window than most states. Get rid of drop boxes. Each person can put their mail-in vote in their mailbox.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I have traveled significantly around the world. While there is much progress that needs to be made and in spite of what our news is telling you, this is the least racist, most accepting, most generous country in the world.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

My ancestors did not own slaves and they fought and died fighting for the North. Should I contribute towards Reparations? Many blacks did not have ancestors that were slaves. Should they receive Reparations? There were other slaves in the USA besides blacks such as the Irish indentured servants. Should they also receive Reparations? I don't see a path to be able to repair the actions of our ancestors in an equitable manner.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Choose not to answer

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To maintain the security of the land and it's people and uphold the rule of law.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

I believe in the Constitution, individual rights, less government and term limits.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://youtu.be/GgJJiOMKns8

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am a mother, grandmother and a software engineer specializing in stopping consumer fraud before it happens. I have spent a career solving critical problems for some of the largest financial institutions in the world. I know how to tackle problems through collaboration, bringing in experts and making sure we don’t create additional problems with proposed solutions. In the business world, you don’t solve issues based on a political party but based on the most successful outcome. These are excellent skills I will bring to the House Legislature. I was raised by parents with wildly opposite political views. I did not grow up in a bubble and I do not live in a bubble. My friends represent as much diversity, if not more, than what is represented in this District. When you work for large international financial institutions, as I have, you interact with a very large group of people with a wide variety of experience, ideas, motivations, and goals. The ability to navigate those waters is a skill I will bring to DeKalb and District 82. I’ve learned that everyone’s opinions and experience is valuable and worth giving attention to. The diversity of views in DeKalb are more vast than most of Georgia. Unlike my opponent, who consistently only supports the extreme views of her party, I will listen to and make sure to give respect and support for varying positions. While I certainly have my own opinions, I am glaringly aware that when elected, I will represent ALL of District 82 and not a specific political ideology. Solutions are not Left or Right. Solutions either solve the problem or they don’t. EDUCATION-I raised 2 female athletes in Georgia Public Schools. We were blessed, at the time, to be in the best school district in Georgia. DeKalb’s education system was once held in high regards. That is far from the case today. DeKalb ranks in the bottom 25% of districts in the state. The literacy competency rate is currently at 27%. These are numbers you would expect from a 3rd world country. The mismanagement of the school board even gained national attention. Whether you have children or not, the fact that our schools perform so poorly is a concern for all residents in that it lowers the values of our homes. PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITY-I’ve had the opportunity to speak with DeKalb Sherriff Maddox, Decatur Police Chief Richardson, Sergeants and beat cops. I consistently hear the same story “my opponent needs to go”. Her vote on House Bill 286 was a vote to defund the police and reduce the safety of our communities. DeKalb once had 1,000 officers and they are down to 400. They do not have the resources to deal with their top 3 issues 1-Officer hiring/retention 2-the Homeless 3-Mental illness. As your representative, I will 100% support efforts to Back the Blue. INFLATION - Staving off the effects of inflation and addressing the current budget surplus in Georgia are critical to all Georgians.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

If officers are following department policy to the best of their ability, they should be immune. Only cases of purposeful misconduct should be prosecuted.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

We should take nothing away from the funds supporting our officers. We should put additional funds towards mental health and community programs as a separate effort.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I 100% support the 2nd Amendment

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

In no other category are the manufactures responsible for the actions of the user. Car manufacturers are not held responsible when a car is used to run over someone.
