Dr. Karen Hiltz: Why Parents Must Demand School Choice

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Enforce immigration laws, build barriers so the US has limited entry points, deport those that enter illegally, and close loop holes based on education, family, and job related entry.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

D - medicare is a contributory program while medicaid is an entitlement program. The government isn't good at managing programs and there is too much fraud and waste in both of these. I would suggest we look at a business model where people are aware of the cost of the services being provided before making a decision on which provider to seek care from. Overall - free markets have a way of providing quality goods and services at reasonable costs when the government gets out of the way and stops manipulating industries.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

What we've experienced over the past 2+ years I'm of the mind that none of these should require or mandate any vaccination. Medical decisions are personal and when people are informed, they are able to make the best decision based on their personal circumstances.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Would like to move towards a consumption tax model.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Entitlement programs in general; look at quid-pro-quo funding; wasteful or non-solution based programs; eliminate funding for outdated programs; wasteful and frivolous grant projects.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigration should be provided to individuals that are able to give benefit to our society and be self-sustaining. No entitlement programs should be provided.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

I also support money follows the child where state funding is provided to every child and the parents can place them in an educational environment that best meets their needs.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None - guns are merely a tool used to do harm just as a car, knife, rope, fist, etc.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

At the federal level - national security, monetary system, and interstate commerce; At the state and local level - law and order, safe infrastructure, clean water and air, and allow the people to decide through their vote on the rest.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

YouTube: (Dr. Karen Hiltz; ASCF; NWEF) FaceBook: Karen Hiltz; The Apple Report; Dr. Karen Hiltz for FL House; FreedomWorks - BEST Program

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I'm a Navy Veteran; had a career in Federal Procurement where I wrote, negotiated and managed multi-million dollar contracts; served on several boards; appointed to two boards; wrote and published 2 books and numerous articles; and I look forward to serving my district in the Florida Legislature. One of my legislative priorities is working on legislation that allows state funding to follow the child, similar to WV and AZ. Another priority is to work with veterans organizations to ensure those that served our country with honor are treated with dignity and have the skills and resources to serve in the civilian world. As a former Navy vet and married to a Marine vet, we know what it's like to move from one community into another and loose one's identity and purpose in life.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

The word of God is the foundation for our culture and government - God, Country, Family!

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

There are two genders - male and female.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT is based on Marxism; it is divisive, harmful, and is used to deceive people into a false sense of equality based on equity theory.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He is my savior, He died and rose again for my sins, and I have the promise of redemption and eternity with Him.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Require ID to vote, move towards 1 day to vote, eliminate voting machines, annual scrub of voter roles to remove the dead, relocated, and non-voter, and hold Election Officials accountable for mis-handling of ballots and voter rolls.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

We are "One Nation Under God" and since I believe God made each one of us, I'm not convinced racism is a threat. I do believe there are those that want to make race an issue as they profit off of racism. However, if we teach respect, dignity, and consideration for others, then I believe a lot of the divisiveness would subside. In addition, I see many more blended families, like mine, over the years and that tells me we are not as divided as some want us to believe.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A - there should always be a reality check on what is cost prohibitive vs. what is the benefit to the people.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Strongly Agree
